In the game of national priorities, where President Obama would seem to be scrapping for a war (any war) to get the national focus off of the scandals that plague his administration — the country doesn’t seem to want a war.
Meanwhile, scandals aside, the Obama Administration has yet to pass one single budget during his time in office. Under other presidents and congresses, it was a priority. Not now. Not when there is golf to be played and votes to be purchased. I suspect that he will leave office after 8 years without once passing a budget. It’s tough to buy votes by “giving away” free things to one demographic that were earned by another demographic if you’re enslaved by a budget.
Congress will soon be forced to vote more money for the Obama Administration (budget or now) and I can’t help but wonder if the president’s war mongering has something to do with trying to get a continuing resolution for more money (rather than simply move the ball down the field). Whatever the motivation for this ill conceived war, his own party isn’t buying it. The Democratic Party’s membership — not the bullied and cowed Congress — is even more opposed to the war than the Republicans are.
Instead of dealing with:
The National Budget
National Debt Issues
The Benghazi Scandal
The NSA Scandal
The IRS Scandal
The Fast and Furious Scandal
Trade issues with China
The worst relations with Mexico in the last 50 years
—on and on—
The President wants a war in Syria that the American people are overwhelmingly opposed to. Meanwhile Obama has made the US an international joke because of his antics.
