Flexible Demeanor

Bullet Points:

** Mule Lore – because I have nothing more interesting to discuss at the moment. There was a time when the Army relied heavily on mules. A green, untrained mule had its tail shaved (shave-tail). Once it was trained to carry a pack, a single bell-shaped notch was cut into its tail. When it learned to pull a wagon, a second bell was added. If the mule was also trained to be ridden, a third tassel was trimmed below the others. So, a ‘three-bell mule’ was fully trained and highly versatile, making it easy to spot the right animal for the job just by glancing at its tail.

** Growing up in Appalachia. More of living in a holler. Note the paved road. We at the White Wolf Mine think of living on a paved road is like living high on the hawg.

** Shame – A sharp cultural critique that explores why many on the political left, especially younger generations, seem to embrace a posture of collective shame. The author argues that this trend reflects a broader shift in how progressives view America—less with pride, more with regret, how shame becomes a tool of moral assertion and identity formation. The article contends that the satisfaction derived from self-critical guilt signals a deeper unfamiliarity with traditional American virtues—and suggests that this response reveals as much about the left’s evolving worldview as it does about the country they critique.

** Finding an appropriate gong: What do we pin on for participation in the recent Twelve-Day War? Explored here. I was thinking of the Gulf of Sidra Yacht Club during the Reagan era. As I recall, I received a Navy Expeditionary Medal for that one. There was more than meets the eye in terms of classified, behind-the-scenes stuff to that one (as with Iran). As far as I know, it’s still classified at the TS-SCI/WNINTEL*/NOFORN/LIMDIS/ORCON level, so there you go—no magic beans for you to chew on.

  • The use of WNINTEL and another marking, NOCONTRACT, was eventually eliminated following recommendations in the Joint Security Commission report. This change was part of a shift towards a more flexible approach to disseminating intelligence, emphasizing timely and wider dissemination while still employing risk management for the most sensitive information. The elimination of WNINTEL also aimed to simplify guidance for sharing intelligence with U.S. contractors and foreign nationals.
    • A Full Scope Polygraph (FSP), also known as a counterintelligence-scope polygraph, is required for a TS/SCI clearance in some casesIt is not a universal requirement for all TS/SCI clearances, but is often used by agencies like the Office of the Director of National Intelligence, CIA, DIA, DEA, FBI, and others. The polygraph is just one part of the overall TS/SCI clearance process, which also includes a background check, adjudication, and potentially reinvestigations.

** Apple is set to revolutionize iPhone connectivity by integrating SpaceX’s Starlink satellite network. Through a partnership with T-Mobile, the upcoming iOS 18.3 update will empower users to send text messages from even the most remote locations without a cell signal.
This new feature, easily activated in your cellular settings, introduces a powerful alternative to Apple’s existing satellite service. Early beta testers are already experiencing this significant upgrade in mobile communication, marking a major shift away from Apple’s previous exclusive provider. The collaboration is already sending ripples through the market, causing a notable drop in the stock of the former provider, Globalstar. This move signals a more competitive era for off-grid technology and suggests a broader rollout to additional devices.

** Green China runs on Dirty Coal – In his Epoch Times commentary, James Gorrie highlights a glaring contradiction in China’s climate narrative. Despite its leadership in solar and wind power, the country still consumes over half of the world’s coal and is actively building new coal-fired plants. Gorrie argues that China’s ambitious targets—like reaching carbon neutrality by 2060—are undermined by its ongoing investment in coal, revealing a profound tension between its “green” aspirations and its reliance on fossil fuels. The piece challenges policymakers and global observers to look beyond Beijing’s renewable energy achievements and address the persistent dominance of coal in China’s energy mix.

** Take the Fifth – Ex-White House Dr. Kevin O’Connor pleaded the Fifth Amendment and ducked out of his high-profile congressional deposition Wednesday over the purported shielding of former President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline. Biden’s longtime personal physician exited the House Oversight Committee grilling just an hour after it started, with O’Connor’s attorney David Schertler telling reporters, “No comments to press.”

“Dr. O’Connor pleaded the Fifth Amendment,” Oversight Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) later revealed. “I’m gonna read the first two questions that were asked. Were you ever told to lie about the president’s health? He pleaded the Fifth Amendment,” the chairman said. “Did you ever believe President Biden was unfit to execute his duties?”

“I think that this adds more fuel to the fire that there was a cover-up,” he declared.” It’s time to grant Dr. O’Connor immunity and ask the question again. If he refuses to answer, then, imprison him for contempt. The Fifth Amendment doesn’t protect you if you’re now immune from prosecution.

** Some people in the UK don’t know what a woman is, but they claim to know what a Sikh is. Curious. A proposal to create a dedicated Sikh regiment within the British Army has resurfaced in the House of Lords, with Defence Minister Lord Coaker signalling openness to further discussions on the matter. Will Sikh women be allowed to join the newly formed Sikh regiment? Will they grow beards and wear turbans?

** Our brave ICE and Border Patrol officials are keeping America safe—but the loon wing of the Democratic Party obstructs, insults, and targets them at every turn. It’s no wonder so many Americans think the Democratic Party looks like the game room at a mental hospital. Senator John Kennedy

Let’s Chat about AOC

AOC has had a rough couple of weeks. Besides the big things going wrong – the BBB passing even though she and the other Dems in congress fell on the floor and kicked their feet and held their breath; the Iranian leadership failing to start WWIII after Trump gave pulled out the MOP (not gay slang) – she’s made some missteps that have hurt her brand.

She’s tied herself to Mamdani in his bid to become NYC’s worst-ever mayor. (And DuhBlasio and David Dinkins were NYC mayors, so the bar has been set high. Or should that be low?) Aligning herself with an extremist train-wreck like Mandami is playing well with the dead-end leftists in NYC. Still, it will become a significant liability if she eventually wants to run for president, God help us all.

The bad news is that Mamdani is a phony. He’s a trust fund baby pretending to be a poor Third Worlder; he’s used more phony accents than Cankles McPantsuit and Que Mala combined; he’s claimed to be black to get affirmative action preference when both of his parents are Indian. (Red Dot, not Warren.)

The worst news is that the things he’s not phony about are his most deeply held beliefs. He’s an authentic Jew-hater and an authentic communist. So…great.

AOC has also done more to expose her phoniness. Just like Mandami, she’s long pretended to have a much harder-scrabble, blue-collar background than she does. Her motive is apparent – being from an intact, financially successful family and earning good money yourself is a considerable handicap for Democrats, which tells you a lot about the dysfunctionality of the Democrat party.

AOC has always tried to portray herself as a tough Latina “Rosa from the block,” and she’s leaned into her Bronx roots nearly as hard as she’s leaned into the rolling “r” and “s” sounds of her exaggeratedly Spanish pronunciation of “Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez.” Unfortunately for her, the people who knew her in grade school and high school are only in their mid-30s, and were not all killed by either global warming, net neutrality, or COVID. Also, high school yearbooks from 17 years ago exist. So the truth is out there. AOC lived in the Bronx until she was 5, after which her family moved to tony Yorktown, in suburban Westchester County. And though records are murky, she caught a case of “WASP nickname syndrome” that may have resulted in a subsequent “Ocasio-ectomy.” Because in high school, she was not a chola from the Bronx, but sweet little Sandy Cortez from the ‘burbs.

Not that she didn’t have some hardships in her life. Her dad was an architect who started his firm, but he died from lung cancer when she was only 19, and her mom worked some blue-collar jobs. There are some sympathetic aspects to her life story, if only she hadn’t exaggerated to give herself some non-existent street cred. For example, in 2018, she said, “My mom scrubbed toilets so I could live here, and I grew up seeing how the zip code one is born in determines much of their opportunity.” Except that her own story demonstrates the opposite, since her birth on the mean streets of the Bronx didn’t stop her family from moving to the suburbs before she started school. Also, “the scrubbing toilets” reference is a nice rhetorical flourish, and sounds much more downtrodden and noble than “cleaning houses.”

Anyway, AOC has been catching more heat for her fabulist tales of her rough teen years lately, as many Yorktown residents are posting messages saying, “You’re from here!” One such guy, who I am sure I would love to hang out with, is a retired FDNY firefighter from the Bronx who now lives near Yorktown. He told a reporter, “You can tell right out of the gate that she isn’t from the Bronx. Listen to her! [Then] listen to us! We’ve been out of the Bronx for years, but we still sound like idiots! It doesn’t just go away.”

AOC has not been dissuaded. She recently made things worse for herself when she tried to engage Trump in an insult battle. Trump started it by referring to her as “one of the dumbest people in Congress,” which, as a president, he shouldn’t do. On the other hand…Fact Check: accurate.

(In fact, the quote I’m about to share with you isn’t even the dumbest part of her tweet. That was her accusation that his taking out the Iranian nukes was “betray[ing] the American people… by illegally bombing Iran and dragging us into war.” Annnndddd…the “war” was over before she could spell-check and post her tweet.) But AOC had to take a closing shot at Trump’s roots in Queens: “Also, I’m a Bronx girl. You should know that we can eat Queens boys for breakfast.”

Now you may remember that Que Mala kept using the line, “I eat ‘No’ for breakfast!” until she was mocked out of it, because of how stupid it sounds. But you’ve got to give the Cackler this: at least it didn’t sound uncomfortably sexual. But I know enough to recognize that a female boasting that she can eat Queens boys for breakfast is not coming across as she wants it to. Because here’s the bottom line (phrasing!): If a guy from Queens is about to go on a date with a young lady from Yorktown, and he hears that she recently bragged about Yorktown gals being able to eat Queens boys for breakfast, he’s going to be…how can I put this?… NOT offended.

More Uranium!

In a RealClearEnergy opinion piece, energy and national security experts emphasize that to safeguard America’s strategic interests—ranging from nuclear defense to energy independence and clean power—the United States must dramatically increase its domestic uranium mining.

The article highlights the risks posed by a heavy reliance on foreign sources, particularly adversaries such as Russia and China, for uranium —the essential fuel for both commercial nuclear reactors and defense applications.

It argues that reviving domestic mining and the broader nuclear fuel cycle isn’t merely an energy issue, but a core element of national security infrastructure and global competitiveness.

In another but Distantly Related Note

Russia offered to help replenish Iran’s depleted uranium stockpile to support a peaceful nuclear program. Russia’s involvement in the US-Iran nuclear talks would be very unlikely to secure US interests due to Russia’s alignment with Iran. https://isw.pub/IranUpdate070925

French intelligence assesses that Iran’s nuclear program is very seriously damaged and its weaponization timeline is significantly delayed, which is consistent with previous reports.

Gender Flexibility?

One news story that I loved was U Penn’s bending the knee and admitting their defeat in the transgender wars, by stripping male athletes of the trophies they won in women’s competitions, and apologizing to the women and correcting their records. It’s impressive to see how quickly the cultural dominance of the transgender fever has broken. Just a year or two ago, our universities, corporations, and federal government were on a deranged jihad to cancel everybody who dared to say that biology exists. You couldn’t swing a dead, nonbinary cat in public without hitting a pride flag.

And when our least qualified SCOTUS nominee confessed that she didn’t know what a woman is, everybody just laughed and gave her a lifetime appointment. (And how’s that working out for us?)

Now the shoe is on the other foot, and the genitalia are back in the proper locker rooms. SCOTUS has given “gender affirming” mutilations and chemical poisonings the kibosh, even as Ketanji Jean-Pierre yells from the men’s room, “I dissent! And why are these strange toilets on the wall?”

Even though sane gender rules have returned to our society, I anticipate a rough transitional period ahead, during which many of our young people, along with university administrators and leftist politicians, will need to relearn how to distinguish between males and females.

My profound (some might even say heroic) modesty cannot prevent me from admitting that I’ve done it. I’ve developed a test that I hope will one day be as famous as the Heimlich Maneuver, thereby immortalizing my name in medical history. Like the Heimlich, my method is low-tech, simple, and effective. And it doesn’t require expensive lab work, invasive cheek swabs, or embarrassing physical examinations.

I call it the GCP – the Gender Confirmation Protocol- and I plan to give a presentation about it to the College of Medicine at Johns Hopkins this fall. Here’s how it works: Before an Olympic event – or a sanctioned grade school, high school, college, or professional athletic competition – all of the contestants who want to compete in the women’s division will line up in front of a GCP™-certified test administrator.

Each administrator will be accompanied by an assistant who qualifies as a PWFE – a Person with Functioning Eyesight.

The PWFE will separate the would-be competitors who are males into a separate line. Then the administrator will grab a clipboard and stand in front of each person in line. After recording each competitor’s name and date of birth on the clipboard, he will carry out the Gender Confirmation Protocol™ by administering a swift kick to the groin. (Think of a punt at the Super Bowl)

Suppose the candidate falls to the ground and writhes around, praying for the sweet release of death for the longest, most agonizing minutes of his life. In that case, the administrator will check the box marked “physically intact.” If, on the other hand, the candidate just grunts and continues staring at the administrator with crazy Dylan Mulvaney eyes (and asks for a Bud Light), the administrator will check the box marked “previous bottom surgery.” Either way, the candidates will be sent to intensive psychiatric treatment and will be banned from women’s sports and women’s spaces. Problem solved, and you’re welcome. If you’ll excuse me, I need to work on my acceptance speech for the Nobel Prize in Medicine.

  1. 1?
2 is Beechcraft Model 73 Mentor unsuccessful entry for US jet trainer.

3 is Me 262B-1a/U1. Used by the British in post war tests.

    1. The only surviving Messerschmitt Me-262 night fighter (indeed, I think it’s the same one shown in the photograph above) is in the South African National Museum of Military History in Johannesburg. It’s an interesting plane, although I understand that hanging those very un-aerodynamic aerials off the streamlined nose played havoc with its low-speed handling.

  2. Identify the Aircraft:
    1. Yokosuka P1Y Frances
    2. Beechcraft Model 73 Jet Mentor
    3. Messerschmitt Me 262B

  3. I had an active TS/SCI clearance back in the day. I took the Polygraph test and came back inconclusive. The second time I took it the guy giving the test said the test proved I killed Kennedy when I was 2 years old. I did not get the commo position at Camp David, oh well.

Don’t get me started on AOC. I believe that she paid somebody to take her classes at Boston College. There is no way somebody with an Econ degree could be so ignorant of basic econ principals. And how is somebody with a BS in Econ and International Business only able to get a job at Hot Dog on a Stick or as a beer waitress? BTW: she was never a bartender.

    1. Some people take the poly better not because of deception, but because they do. I hold my breath as a matter of unconscious routine ALL THE TIME, which can be a problem on the poly. Examiner to LL: “Do you know that you held your breath for three minutes at a time?” LL: Not long enough?

          1. One is instructed NOT to hold one’s breath while operating open or closed-circuit UBAs. I think that I developed the habit early. My father was a professional diver when I was young, and he trained me to free dive with a snorkel. For some reason, the training stuck, and to this day, I habitually hold my breath. It shows up in polygraph tests. I expect that I’ve taken my last flutter, out to pasture with age, approaching my dotage (or whatever the Golden Years hold for me). I looked in the mirror the other day, and an old man looked back. Pity.

        1. Participated in a Tour The West camping trip while in high school. At some point the guys in the car with me wanted to have a breath holding contest. I did it for three minutes and all the other guys were convinced I was faking it.

          1. To take the test correctly, you have to stand at attention and allow them to punch you repeatedly in the solar plexus as hard as they can. There is no shame in barfing afterward.

          2. Geez…that’s rough. Watching the Shooter series, Swagger confronts “Lon Scott” who boasted he’s a better shot than him, says: I’m a force recon sniper…when grenades are going off, you’re under threat and taking fire, and your buddy is bleeding out next to you, and you still have to remain calm and take the shot. No…you…with all the time to zero your target…you’re a marksman.”

      1. And then there are people like me, who ooze Catholic Guilt (guilt over everything, because He died on the Cross for YOU!!!) and thus can blow a polygraph test by being so nervous that the whole test fails.

Had a job offer at a local PD for office work job. They had to do a full background check on me, including going to the hospital where I was born or at least the local admin office of said hospital to look at all my paperwork from me being born. Interviewing next-door neighbors from my childhood and such. Which caused a lot of problems because I was born at a military hospital and lived on military bases for my first 10 years. That almost cost me the job offer.

Then the polygraph came. I failed on my correct name, my wife’s correct name, my address, the name of the building we were in, the name of the polygraph operator, the current at that time President of the United States, what state we were in, even before they got to questions on drug use and criminal activity, which I failed. I think I got one true positive result. So the operator did it again. I completely failed on every question. So she had to talk to me for a while, do another test without the machine actually on and then did yet another actual test. I passed that time.

What’s truly screwy is that actual cops had a much less strict background check and polygraph than what was required for an office worker. That’s screwed up.

        1. The real thing that;s screwed up is that they can polygraph anyone, ever,
          for any job application legally.
          *
Polygraph is snake-oil bullshit that’s utterly unreliable.
That’s why they are inadmissible for evidence at trial.
          *
Might almost as well use the Magic 8-Ball.
          – Kle.

    2. “no way somebody with an Econ degree could be so ignorant of basic econ principles”
Hell, there are people TEACHING economics who have goofier ideas. Here’s an example from my own past.
Way back in college I remember leafing through various econ textbooks for introductory microeconomics and was struck by one by Daniel Fusfeld (Econ Prof at Univ Michigan) because it was seething with Marxism (and resentment) that even naive, innocent, small-L libertarian Mike back then (yes, I was one of Them; /hangsheadinshame) could detect. It was full of little vignettes that were meant to illustrate principles. It literally had characters called “Mrs Gotrocks” (as in diamonds) and “Joe Workingman”. Needless to say, Mrs Gotrocks cruelly exploited good ol’ Joe. Incidentally, I later was told by persons in UMich Econ that Fusfeld’s course content was entirely different from the content of the same microecon course taught by other faculty. Now the thing is, there are thousands of Fusfelds embedded like ticks in Academia throughout the US, busily pumping nonsense and poison into young minds. Here is a link to Fusfeld’s Departmental obituary. This excerpt should disturb you (y’all).

At his retirement dinner, Professor Robin Barlow estimated that “one out of every 6,000 Americans now living has taken Principles of Economics from Dan Fusfeld.” In addition, he regularly taught courses in Marxist political economy, the development of economic institutions, and the history of economic thought.

      https://lsa.umich.edu/econ/alumni-friends/in-memorium/daniel-r–fusfeld.html

      1. The entire previous Department of the Treasury spent all day, every day spouting MMT
lies. Remember Yellen stating that printing money wouldn’t cause inflation 10,000
        times?
        *
Pretty sure all those traitorous scum had econ degrees, too.
        *
In that environment, Ocasio-Cortez’s imbecility pales.
She isn’t even close to the dumbest person in Congress; she’s probably close to the 75 IQ
I estimate as the average. Look at Maisie Hirono, for a start.
        – Kle.

        1. If you can fog a mirror, you can serve in the democrat caucus. Look at Hank (Guam will capsize) Johnson, who may be dumber than AOC, Masie Hirono, or the members of The Squad.

        2. If it’s an Econ Degree based on Marxist Economic Theory, it’s still an econ degree.

  4. “the Gender Confirmation Protocol”
Hey, here’s a crazy idea! Let’s apply some sort of GCP towards being the First Lady of a Western nation. (Note: I am NOT hatefully saying that you must be biologically female to be the wife of the leader of a nation. I’m saying you have to be female (and human) to be called “Lady”. If Cenk “Horse-F*cker” Uygur ever becomes President somewhere, he can have his First Mare, because to do otherwise would be anti-Equinism, but Mrs Cenk wouldn’t be called First Lady.) I don’t need the kick in the ‘nads for GCP. Radiological imaging as proof suffices (MRI would be great, if the person refuses X-ray or CT because “but ionizing radiation!”).

Big Mike (BM) is already past this hurdle and we will not be retroactively GCPing BM, as amusing as that might be.
As for Brigitte “Spousal Abuser” Macron (Little BM), ball’s in your court, Madame. Balls are probably in a jar of formaldehyde, but that’s another story. And, ewwww.
Little BM is why I am a proponent of radiological evidence in place of the shot to the ‘nads (or the cunt punt, in the event of a confirmation): kicking Brigitte, who is totally NOT the former Jean-Michel Trogneux, would be elder abuse.

Bad news for Brigitte, BTW. French court overruled a lower court: two actual women who claimed that Little BM is a man have been cleared of libel charges. Sweat and seethe, Little BM. In other legal news, Cenk “HF” Uygur’s appalling nephew, YouTuber Hasan Piker is in trouble. Now the ignorant (and oddly effeminate [1] for a bearded 6’3″ Turk) Piker is always in some sort of trouble, but his social media orbiters fell bigly into a copyright trap set by Ethan Klein. I don’t know much about Klein (and am not a fan of what I do know) but good on him. Unlike idiot “purists”, I have no trouble with the unpleasant taking out the unbearable and intolerable.

[1] Any of y’all find that your gaydar doesn’t work for males under, say 30? Either “normal male behavior” is different these days, or something like 30% of males are now faggots. (Word chosen deliberately, I didn’t say homosexual because I didn’t mean homosexual. I meant faggot as in “mincing little”.) Now bear in mind where I am most days, major east coast city or midwestern college town, so probably skewed (heh) toward MLF behavior. Where y’all live, the percentage may be lower. But so many young males these days seem light in the loafers. Getting a lot of false positives on the ol’ gaydar.

    1. Males in liberal bastions – it’s tough to tell. Better to assume 100% gay.

  5. “(Red Dot, not Warren.)” Around here we use the undoubtedly racist, ‘as in dot head not “woo-woo”.’

        1. Clearly she would so self-identify if it would make her a stipend in her Indian Studies chair at Harvard.

  6. Mules – many thanks LL, for finally teaching me where the hell “shavetail”
comes from. I’ve been trying to figure out out for years.

Holler – that does seem like an unusually ritzy Holler. Almost suburbia,
    even.
    – Kle.

  7. Flexible Demeanor: These came to mind straight away (like most of my comments, zero governor…but this is The Bible so holds sway): “Eph 4:14, “We must no longer be children, tossed to and fro and blown about by every wind of doctrine, by people’s trickery, by their craftiness in deceitful scheming.” – and – James 1-12 “Blessed is the man who remains steadfast under trial, for when he has stood the test he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to.”
    ***
AOC & her supposed Econ degree: Doesn’t say much about the econ program at BU…surprised she didn’t wholeheartedly support “no tax on tips” as this was her main income for years serving adult beverages.
    ***
“Dr. Kevin O’Connor pleaded the Fifth”: Weasel…who clearly has no clue he just confirmed his medical license should be revoked. His argument of “doctor-patient confidentiality” is BS when it’s the President, especially when everyone pretty much knows….and especially since the Left and Dem’s have demanded President Trump’s medical records (and taxes) be released! Soo – thinking the movie “Dave” – what if the President becomes an invalid or massively incapacitated, do WTP have a right to know his condition and where things stand, or does this clownish MD believe it’s his duty to say “all good” with 5A immunity?

  8. An Appropriate Going; If there’s ever magic beans available , even in fiction form, a declassified version of the Sidra Gulf would be interesting to read. Im only aware of the aircraft dogfights in 81′ The implications of the patch appears to be Lybian vessels bottom up from torpedo damage or maritime “accidents”?

Polygraph and clearances. Can’t remember which short it was in “Conduct Unbecoming”, that included these 2 necessary procedures in the Op.

      1. X2! (Good job Ed…way to inspire and inform the rest of us plebes ‘who don’t have their own radio program’)

      1. Not fair. The mule is somewhat useful and can be eaten (relatively tasty) if necessary. New 2nd LTs are usually not useful and who’d want to eat one (except maybe some split-tail trying to get a bedroom promotion)(And, sorry, for that visual image.)

  9. Yep, clearances and SSBIs were a PITA. At least you could ‘cheat’ if you kept a copy of your previous SF86! You didn’t get dinged for ‘changing’ things like references or addresses…or your third grade teacher’s name.
