Working underwater in the tropics means you don’t have to wear a wet suit or a dry suit. The dry suit in conditions such as those (above) means you’ll cook like a Thanksgiving turkey in one of those roasting bags. This photo was taken on USS Cavalla, SSN-684 (Sturgeon Class nuclear powered fast attack submarine). The boat was decommissioned in 1998, dating me somewhat. However the memories remain. I was not part of her regular crew. You could fairly say I was part of the payload.
