Congress has passed (Title 26 of the U.S. Code). The Government Printing Office sells it spread over two volumes, and according to them, book one is 1,404 pages, and book two is 1,248 pages, for a total of 2,652 pages. At perhaps 450 words per page, that puts the tax code at well over 1 million words.

A tax practitioner who relies just on the tax statutes will go to jail because so much of federal tax law is in IRS regulations, revenue rulings, and other clarifications. Congress will set down a policy and leave it to the IRS to write all the rules to implement it. The National Taxpayer Advocate also noted that the tax code changes an average of once per day, annually.

A lawyer who relies just on cases and regulations isn’t a very good lawyer, because most court decisions are made on the basis of previously decided cases. The respected legal publisher Commerce Clearing House (CCH) puts out such a compilation, the Standard Federal Tax Reporter of 70,000 pages, with notations after each statute containing relevant cases and other information. CCH itself considers this volume to be representative of “the tax code,” since an expert needs to know all 70,000 pages to understand the tax code in full.

 

Political Update

I’ve been on the phone with people using commercial-grade (as opposed to military-grade) encrypted voice coms. Everyone seems to be sitting on the sidelines eating popcorn as the deep state works to sideline Biden in favor of Harris.

Yes, you heard it here. The permanent administrative state prefers the more easily directed woman of color/colored woman to the demented, embarrassing, and erratic Pedo Joe. I asked, “why the Ho?” The answer from several sources is that she doesn’t ask questions. She just does as she’s told, sort of the same way as she did when she serviced her clients. It brought her success in outcall and in politics, which are not that different. I don’t know who she’d pick as her VEEP. Right now insiders say that……it’s a toss-up between Gov. Gavin Newsom, her old buddy from California, and Michelle (Big Mike) Obama.

** Food –  Pakistan is not one of the poorest nations in the world and the lack of affordable food is starting to cause panic inside that country.  The following comes from Time Magazine…

Last Saturday in Mirpur Khas, a city in Pakistan’s Sindh province, hundreds of people lined up for hours outside a park to buy subsidized wheat flour, offered for 65 rupees a kilogram instead of the current, inflated rate of about 140 to 160 rupees.

When a few trucks arrived, the crowd surged forward, leaving several injured. One man, Harsingh Kolhi, who was there to bring a five kg bag of flour home for his wife and children, was crushed and killed in the chaos. The US is in a much better situation, but I’m sure that many of our betters would like to see that happening here.

** 10% for the Big Guy – In 2020 Hunter Biden’s laptop hit the news and emails were uncovered involving Hunter Biden, Jim Biden, and Joe Biden.  These emails and text messages showed multiple pay-for-play schemes involving the Bidens and major players around the world, including officials in China. This week the Daily Mail uncovered another email found on Hunter’s laptop that included Joe Biden in a 2017 email discussing a multi-million dollar gas deal with China. The Washington Free Beacon reported that Biden lied to the American people and took oil from the US oil reserves not to help Americans at the pump, but to help China.

** Where’s the beef? One billion people should stop eating meat in order to save the planet. Danish businessman and chairman of the German manufacturing giant Siemens, Jim Hagemann Snabe pushed the Great Reset agenda of replacing meat with synthetic proteins at a “Mobilizing for Climate” panel at the annual globalist meeting in Davos, Switzerland on Wednesday. “If a billion people stop eating meat, I tell you, it has a big impact. Not only does it have a big impact on the current food system, but it will also inspire the innovation of food systems,” Snabe said, adding: “I predict we will have proteins not coming from meat in the future, they will probably taste even better.”

Because of my personal respect for Jim Hagemann Snabe, I am going to grill a big, juicy tomahawk ribeye for dinner tonight. I will use an outdoor gas grill (under a deck cover) even though it’s cold and snowing. Maybe baked potato and green beans to go with it?

** But there’s more – The World Economic Forum has also been at the forefront of the meat-free future movement, arguing that people should opt for more “climate beneficial foods” such as algae, seaweed, and cacti.

The Klaus Schwab-founded organization that pioneered the idea of a “Great Reset” of capitalism, has also promoted the idea of eating insect protein rather than meat to lessen the impact of supposedly man-made climate change. I’m sure that you’ve read that the Canadians are said to be following every popular PM Trudeau into a bug-meal future.  “What’s for dinner, Mom?” –  “Mealworms and algae, son, with a big, room-temperature mug of soylent green.”

** Last Saturday afternoon, former FBI agent Charles McGonigal, who was head of counterintelligence in the New York Field Office and a part of the investigation into supposed ties between Trump and Russia, was arrested over his alleged ties to Russia.

CBS reports that McGonigal was arrested over “his ties to Oleg Deripaska, a Russian billionaire who has been sanctioned by the United States and criminally charged last year with violating those sanctions.”

** On Thursday, a security researcher posted a blog entry showing how she allegedly easily hacked an unsecured server and was able to gain access to the U.S. government’s Terrorist Screening Database and its controversial “No Fly List,” which contains the names of hundreds of thousands of people suspected of ties to terrorism or other illegal activities.

The server was apparently under the control of the U.S. national airline CommuteAir and her hacking led her to the government files.

 

British Ships

The first recorded use of the abbreviation HMS was in 1789, although the term HBMS or His Britannic Majesty’s Ship had been used since the Union between England and Scotland in 1707. Smaller vessels may be referred to as HM ships or, in the case of the Royal Yacht, HMY. The logistical support ships of the Royal Fleet Auxiliary are referred to as RFA. Ships of some nations of the Commonwealth may be referred to as HMAS, HMNZS or HMCS (or NCSM for Navire canadien de Sa Majesté).

RMS stands for Royal Mail Ship and is used for ships that are under contract to the Royal Mails regardless of what line they belong to. This terminology dates back to 1840. The first Royal Mail Ship was the Mona’s Isle which carried mail to the Isle of Man. The most recent is the Queen Mary 2 which does not actually carry mail but was designated RMS in recognition of the Cunard Line’s long history of carrying the mail. The most famous RMS was probably the RMS Titanic.

  2. I have had assorted middle of the city in-laws ask how growing up on the farm (1960s Australia) we could raise cattle, name them and eat them. I usually say medium rare.

    Can’t understand people who have no idea how much work there is in food production.

    • They know all about food production. They arrive at the store or restaurant and food is present or it’s brought, prepared, to their table. That is precisely what they think. Most of the elite are not deep thinkers, most of them have never done an honest day’s work in their life. Stealing from others may present challenges – but that’s the extent of their familiarity with work.

  3. Yeah, I was wondering why Mooch didn’t run directly, until I came to the conclusion that she was and is as or more loathsome than Hillary. But install her as VP to Cum-all’ya’s presidency, and then get rid of Cum-all-ya in 6 months to a year and then Mooch runs as an actual sitting president (who can stand up and pee without a whizzinator.

    Get that? Biden et al was less loathsome than the Mooch. But do an end-run around the whole pesky election thingy and then she’s just fighting with a corrupt election system and news agency and the power of a fully-weaponized federal bureucracy and victory in 2024 and 2028 will be assured.

    As to ‘climate beneficial foods’ and all the other anti-meat and green movements and all that other WEF bullscat and poop. Well, you want people to actually reach the moment of actually “EAT THE RICH”? Keep this crap up and, well, all the elites at the WEF will discover what FAFO means.

    • Big Mike is too lazy to run. Life on the campaign trail might cause the mask to slip. Today, campaigning from your basement to be installed might even be too much work. Being selected by Harris might be ok, but one day living in a “house built by slaves” might be too much for her. She could rule from Martha’s Vineyard possibly? There would be a lot to unpack with another 8 years of the other Obama.

  7. They are in the process of throwing Biden to the side, but they do not trust Harris as she is too stupid and I do not think they can control her. So Biden will be around until end of term. Obama is running things from behind the scenes. I believe he will have Michelle Obama run so the selection will have the Blacks and Suburban Moms going for her and keeping the election numbers close no matter who is the Republican, Trump or DeSantis, so they can try to keep us out of CW2 for election fraud. I think we will end up there as the same people that have the southern border open, inflation running massively, and destroying the country will still be in charge and with no change CW2 will start as most large urban centers start to break into war zones.

  8. Federal Tax Law is merely legalized theft, otherwise it wouldn’t need to be so “weighty” and complicated (like the ATF “Regs”, same thing, different title). Laws and regs created by those who feel entitled to steal from “the little people” and feel good about it.

    • Edit: …otherwise a Flat Tax as proposed multiple times would have been enacted by now. Fill out a card, pay ‘X’. Done. But that would eliminate the Money Transfer Theft Mechanism, so it’ll never happen.

      • The tax system rewards the faithful and provides equity since the lower 50% don’t pay anything at all and make bank with earned income credit. I’m not cracking on the poor but everyone should pay SOMETHING. It’s true that they pay excise taxes and property tax if they own property. But even a dollar means that there is a collective effort with some contribution on their part.

        • Always been two base options:

          1) 10% of gross, everyone pays based on income not social whatevertheheck. Done. No IRS needed. Corporate tax structure could be differentiated to allow certain business deductions, etc., since S-Corps do not pay taxes, the consumer of their products/services do. (the media forgets this simple fact)

          2) A ‘X’ percentage consumption tax would work as well, maybe more even-handed and totally eliminates Federal Income Tax on people. Spend more, pay more (total, not graduated, same percentage).

          But DC never looks for solutions, especially when they are in the candy store free-for-all, they won’t want to see that end regardless of logic or reason.

  10. Wife and I are most fortunate to be able to shop at Kroger. They have their own in house “Nolan Ryan” brand of beef. They routinely have ribeye, T-bone, or top sirloin steaks on sale. This past Sunday, we bought bone-in ribeye steaks for $5.97/lb. And yeah, gas grill.

      I wonder about that. In the past there may have been (was) condescension and even contempt for the average man, but today’s “elite” seem to genuinely HATE the normal American as being actively and inherently evil.

      Perhaps the difference is that past “elites” thought of themselves as superior and thus deserving of power due to natural hierarchy. But today’s “elites” see themselves as victims (always the powerless innocents, persecuted for No Reason At All). When you’re the aggrieved innocent then there is no concept of stewardship or noblesse oblige that sets limits on what you do. Instead, you’re the shield of your* (blameless and eternally innocent) people, and also their righteous sword.

      * note that “your people” does not necessarily mean your co-ethnics or co-religionists. Some of the most egregious apologists for negros, or sexual deviants, or Islamists, what have you, are in fact persons that negros and Islamists generally hate.
