This is what happens when you combine a precision JP Arms LRP-07 .308 rifle with a Magpull stock, custom grip and top it with a Schmidt and Bender Police Marksman 2 rifle scope (5-25×56 PM II/LP)
JP Rifles are not designed for heavy combat. They’re about as far away from an AK-47 as you can get (in the “gas gun” category) and still have a rifle in that class.
They are designed to be a precision rifle and when handled by a good shooter, they represent a quality tool that will print minute-of-angle at 300 meters. Precision shooting isn’t only about the rifle and sighting system. It involves understanding bullet flight, accepting the conditions involved and requires precision ammunition to be effective. Practice ammunition should be of the same quality as ‘war shots’, which mean that shooting is never inexpensive.
One key advantage to the LRP-07 is the heat sink (left) that surrounds the barrel. It means that a cold barrel shot will go through the same hole in the target as a hot barrel shot.
I’ve had my LRP-07 for about five years now, and I’ve punched a few rounds through it. I use Barrett scope mounts to lift the scope higher than other standard mounts because the Schmidt and Bender needs it to keep the clearance between the scope tube and the barrel where it needs to be.
The price of these components has gone up since I bought them. But I don’t buy firearms to invest for the purpose of reselling. I buy them to shoot.

The glasses are prescription – I have no idea. But when making fine click adjustments on the scope, better to have them on than to do it as with brail.
That's half the fun.
(1) You can shoot a poodle with it. Though I haven't shot house cats, I suspect that it would work on feral cats too.
(2) Yes, 16" barrel. And even with the shorter barrel (loss of some velocity with powder burn in factory ammo), you can compensate with hand loads. This rifle does handle hotter loads better than any of the tradition semi-auto gas guns that I have owned or shot professionally.
Shooting out to about 800m, with Nossler partitioned rounds, the accuracy is wicked good. Beyond that, it simply drops off because you're shooting a 308. If you're going to be shooting way out there you need a different cartridge and a different platform.
For combat load out from 0 to intermediate range, I'm exceptionally fond of the Barrett 468 (6.8 Remington SPC) because of the ballistics involved. The LRP is a good sniper weapon for .308 but it's not designed to be a combat rifle.
I have a tack puncher in 5.56mm and may do a blog about it in the future (not a JP rifle) that is super accurate, but all things being equal, I simply prefer the 6.8 Remington for all applications.
I like all of that. I think I need a S&B scope.

LOL, yeah but cats would blow up… 800M out of a 16" barrel is DAMN GOOD! Yep, Barrett makes good stuff, but expensive… sigh I've got that HBAR and it shoots way better than I do. I'm not getting into the 6.8, I don't need anymore calibers to try to stock! 🙂

We just got .308s on an AR platform, I don't recall the maker. I think a few real-word ops (Idaho, Pennsylvania) might have influenced that decision. I didn't get one…but I will get to play with it…
You need to make noise until they issue it to you.
The perfume I wear is by "Juliette has a gun" it is therefore only right that I should know how to handle my weaponry from every respect. When I reach the desert I will send the Alchemist to fetch you and you can teach me all I need to know about straight shooting.
There are things that I well and things that I do poorly. Fortunately, I can safely and accurately operate a firearm and teach others to do likewise.
