The 2012 Benghazi attack was a coordinated attack against two United States government facilities in Benghazi, Libya by Ansar Al-Sharia.
At 9:40 p.m., September 11, members of Ansar al-Sharia launched a premeditated and coordinated attack against the American diplomatic compound/consulate in Benghazi resulting in the deaths of Ambassador Christopher Stevens and FSO Sean Smith.
On September 12, the same group launched an attack against the CIA annex, about a mile away. The attack results in the deaths of CIA contractors, Tyrone S. Woods and Glen Doherty and wounding ten others.
The US Government had the capacity to support the defense of the CIA annex and chose not to. I followed the hearings and listened to the ass-covering including the defense mounted by then SECSTATE Clinton. It made me sick then and it makes me sick now.
Remember Benghazi.

Ed – Who got the elk?
I have no idea. Maybe the tow truck driver who hooked up the U-Haul. It was a very big bull. There are elk everywhere here. If I was hungry for elk meat, I’d just pick the one I want and shoot it from my deck, walk over, winch it (vehicle winch) up into a tree, clean it, butcher it and drop it into the freezer. I realize that’s ‘poaching’ but if a rifle fires in the forest and there’s nobody (else) to hear it – did it really fire?
Beans – Oh, I haven’t forgotten any of the Fondas, or Kerry, or the Weathermen, or any of the other darlings of the left that made their mark standing on the bloodied bodies of our people.
There are just some things I don’t tolerate in my house. And in conversations with other people. I bring up that traitor Fonda and her idiot semi-traitor and now dead brother in the checkout lane whenever I see their idiot faces on any periodical. Same with Kerry, or any of the Clintons, or the Obamas.
Heck, I still remember and support the execution of the Rosenbergs.
Sometimes it makes for interesting times when one studies history and are surrounded by indoctrinated sheep, and one can’t keep one’s fat trap shut.
My wife thinks someday someone’s gonna shoot me for sounding off on evil and hypocrisy in public, but if someone doesn’t, then who will?
I feel like I belong to the ancient and unsung order of Cassandra, shouting truths into the wind while no-one around wants to hear the truth. But truth must be sounded out. Truth must be told, as some will eventually hear.
If you think this is bad, you ought to hear me rail about ‘ban the plastic bags’ that my idiot city commissioners enacted without any public support because our plastic was choking the oceans (you know, the plastics from our city that end up in the landfill that’s 150′ above sea level. If our plastics end up in the ocean, we have a lot more to worry about than some stupid plastic, more like what the heck the water level is doing above 150′ above sea level, yaknow?)
Many years ago I was in the check out line at a grocery store with my little daughter, who is now a grown woman. She looked at the tatted up, long hair’d guy in front of us, buying with food stamps. She asked me, “Dad, is that a dirtbag?” I replied, “Yes, Amanda, that’s a dirtbag.” He turned around, mad-dog’d me and asked, “What are YOU looking at?” I replied, “a dead man.” He gathered up his crap and left the store.
She reminded me of the incident the last time I was in Southern California. Amanda became a police officer and then she left that to raise three boys. (Her husband is also a police officer) Thus, I get you. Walk softly and carry a big stick.
Raven – I have long maintained the Utah data center has nothing to do with it’s ostensible purpose, fighting the bad guys. It does no good at all to archive info to fight terrorists if the info is not reviewed in real time, so actionable material is obtained.
My take on it is that it is a retro active filing system, so when someone becomes of interest,aka a political threat, the data can then be sifted to find an infraction- the modern equivalent of “show me the man, and I will find the crime.” or “give me five lines written by a man, and I will find something in them to convict him”(Robespierre? I forget.)
Reflect on this- there is no way to prevent or punish a suicide attacker retroactively. Therefore, all the data banks in the world are useless in this capacity, unless actionable intelligence is received, analyzed, and used. Hence, the system we have built, is the least useful against the enemy we ostensibly built it for. It’s maximum power is when used against people who respect life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.
My sense is that you are 100% spot on. As an example, the provisions of the Patriot Act were used against an elected president in a fraudulent effort by the Federal Bureau of Investigation to try and remove him from office. And if they can do that to a President of the United States, how much easier is it to crush you, Raven?
There has been a systematic effort to eliminate the Bill of Rights in our generation. The government either classifies the information and would attack anyone who opposed it as in the case of the Fourth Amendment and the NSA’s spying efforts domestically. Or the all too obvious assault on the Second Amendment.
It makes me think that the progressive movement actually wants a civil war. Gun confiscation would certainly deliver them what they’ve been begging for. And there is no doubt but what it would thin their ranks.

The LL standard for whether we should have a war is that those people who are promoting the war should send their children to fight in the front lines. If they do that, it’s likely worth fighting. If not, then not so much.
During World War 2, the sons of American representatives and leaders did do that. Hollywood actors even actually fought. Some died. But that’s not how we do it most of the time. To be fair about it, after September 11, 2001, there were a number who joined to fight…radical Islam. However, we didn’t do much of that. Iraq was a secular country – not an Islamic country that made war on us. Afghanistan didn’t make war on us either. Yes, it did harbor jihadis, but how many of the old jihadis are left there after sixteen years of war? How many were left after six years of war. OBL was living high in Pakistan, our Muslim ally.
There’s a lot wrong with how things turned out. Jihadis are currently celebrated members of Congress. How progressive is that?
Benghazi was beyond outrageous, that the BEAST walks free to this day compounds the crime.
I wouldn't want it on my conscience but she doesn't seem to have one. So.
I understand that the actual call to stand down was not originated by Hillary Clinton, only executed by 'The Bitch of Benghazi.' The recommendation to stand down was the idea of Valerie Jarrett, who figured that a few dead diplomats would be far better than videos of a U.S. counterattack that might sour the Arab Street's view of America and the West (which has been sour since the days of the prophet).
Looks like Valerie Jarrett was wrong. But don't tell the mainstream media that.
As I stated the other day, this still angers me. "Stand down" is not an option here. If Army or Marine units can't arrive in time, send them anyway. Payback can always get exacted. If there's no ordnance on the F/A-18s, send them anyway. A low flyover would likely at least slow them down. I understand both options were scotched. Unforgivable.
An unwelcome message for those at the tip of the spear. "When the shit hits the fan, you're fucked".

In fairness, the Forever War has always been forever. AFAICT from my research, the longest period of peace in US history was 8 years during the Great Depression, when we and everybody else were just too damn broke to fight for anything less than survival.
There's this old saw about the US being a peaceful nation, but it's a bunch of hooey.
As for politicians sons and Hollywood celebrities going off to war, it would be nice if politicians took rolling the dice a little more seriously. However, I certainly don't want to go back to the way we used to fight – badly, with conscripts used as ammo – so that we could lose more men than ten years in Iraq and Afghanistan has cost us to date, in an hour at Savo, or six months over Germany in the 8th Air Force.

Ah yes, the checkout line follies. Back during our Kalifornia days (daze) I got some entertaining responses when paying cash and remarking to the clerk "Here, have an original first edition "food stamp". Also just got deer in the headlights.
Our daughter is in six years as a patrol officer. We live in her district. Her husband is SWAT in the next town over.
Benghazi. Stand down = everybody dead = no witnesses. Words failed me then. They still do. I'll go with what LSP said.
There are people who, despite being non-current military, should be awarded national recognition for valor. Certainly Woods and Doherty are among them, no doubt the CIA has done so in a private way. Also people like Beamer and Co., who interdicted the scum on Flight 93- there are some Americans who with no training, no assigned "duty", just do what has to be done, putting themselves at fully known grave peril to save others.

We were still playing around in South America and in various backwoods of the Philipenes during the Depression. Just was low intensity stuff, didn't make the paper, killing commies and muzzies and all that. You know, typical day in the old Marine Corps and the old Army…
As to endless war, we're still fighting (quietly, with few deaths) the Korean War. Still. And we still have troops in Germany to stop the current Russians from getting too frisky.
War, endless war is a constant. Just people don't understand their history too well.
Like the first real test of the US Navy and the US Marine Corps. Smashing some Tripolians faces with our fists. But apparently the rest of the muslims didn't really get the message…
Why would one not be able to arm and prep F/A-18s in a timely fashion even under the delicate touch of the Lightbringer? Oh, I just answered my own question.
