Am I the only one who wonders how much she was paid to sing – “Wa-wa-wa“?
Bullet Points:
** In any disaster situation, one redneck neighbor or friend is worth 1000 PhDs.
** Figures lie – and liars figure.
** Jules copes with the Swirl of Whipped Disappointment. (The Way We Were)
** Patterns of violence: Males – I’ll kill you // Females – I’ll make your life a living hell, and you’ll kill yourself.
** At publishing time, North Carolina had sent an urgent plea to the Taliban asking if it had any spare U.S. military helicopters it could borrow to help rescue hurricane victims.
** When the first woman lands on the moon.
** Robert E. Lee believed that the Confederacy would likely not prevail against the industrialized North in a prolonged conflict without the aid of a foreign European power to come to their aid. It didn’t change his opinion about the rebellion, but the absence of intervention made a break far more complex. The Federal Navy successfully blockaded the South and ran the Mississippi past Vicksburg. Hopes of Southern Ironclads made enough of a difference, and submarines like the Hunley were ill-founded in the face of unassailable numbers.
** Why are black holes important? – an exciting discussion and perspective.
** If you want a man to love you, don’t talk to him. Just don’t!
** Did she call him or didn’t she? Who cares?
** Everyone tasked with training Third World soldiers has stories like his. When you think hard about it, we have the same stories with our own guys.

A Discussion of 29P
Centaurs in astronomy are named after mythological creatures that are half-human and half-horse, symbolizing their hybrid nature.
Orbiting the Sun between Jupiter and Neptune, these objects are considered former trans-Neptunian bodies nudged inward by gravitational influences over the last few million years.
They’re in a transitional phase, sharing characteristics with distant Kuiper Belt objects and short-period comets.
What’s particularly fascinating about 29P is its highly active behavior. It experiences outbursts every six to eight weeks, making it one of the most active objects in the outer solar system.

Christian Nationalism?
“Christian Nationalism” is a codeword for any opposition to the Leftist Marxist religion. In the same way any opposition to communism, whether Fascist, Monarchist, or Republican, is called “Rightwing” or any adherent to any non-Christian religion is called “heathen” or “pagan”, so too is any opposition to the Secular Religion of the Left called “Christian Nationalism.”

“In any disaster situation, one redneck neighbor or friend is worth 1000 PhDs.” — Brother sent this over: https://cowboystatedaily.com/2024/10/09/armed-with-a-hose-and-weed-sprayer-wyoming-man-defends-his-home-from-elk-fire/

Have a plan…make your own firebreak, fill the stock tanks and spread them around, prep the GenSet for the well pump, load the sprayer tank onto the UTV, do what you can on spot fires (that area is mostly grass, but the embers are the real problem in wind), team up with neighbors…but be prepared to bug out if things get too jiggy.
–
I understand the fire commanders statement, but government is not there to help you, as we have seen with North Carolina. That delay/result should be all one needs to not rely on agencies who [seemingly] sole purpose is to grow their yearly budgets. A fire up this way got knocked back last week but the current protocol is to let it burn itself out while clearing the ground fuels (that they have let build over decades). Then the Fall winds came…fire is huge now. They oddly will not put the thing out when they could…hence Mr. Tritschler’s approach (like that one guy who built a full levy around his Mississippi home and ran a pump for days…survived).

DeSantis Clip- 100% handled. The guy is rock solid, no nonsense, nuts-n-bolts git-er done all business, and takes no BS from the MSM do-nothings, who’s sole purpose is to talk about what others are doing while working overtime to politicize anything, including a Cat4/5 potential storm, which is the height of reprehensible from their comfy chairs as if anyone cares what they have to say. So yeah, “Who cares?”.
“how much she was paid to sing – “Wa-wa-wa“?”
She looks like she’s struggling to keep a straight face.
Jules’ post is spot on.
Even better than the wa-wa gal is the soprano (Christine Anderson) who comes in at 3:31. This is the Danish National Symphony Orchestra.

“In any disaster situation, one redneck neighbor or friend is worth 1000 PhDs.”
Cool. I’m a redneck with a PhD. So was Dad. Got two brothers who are rednecks with MDs.
So, with the four of you together know how to change a lightbulb? snicker… to be forthcoming, I have two masters…
I only have one Master. A former carpenter’s son.
I too, have one true Master, the same carpenter’s son. I was referring to my earthly, scholarly masters, nursing and behavioral science. I know, being pedantic and the Phds and MD have masters too…
“A drunk driver on the information highway…”
I’ll have to remember to not use that.

Now where did I get that from?
(Probably from here)
Wild fires and neighbors.
During the Korean war we lived in Pinecliff, CO along the D&RG tracks. The old steam engines were put back into service to pull all the military trains. Sparks from the smokestacks started spot fires. The whole town, maybe 30-40 people, turned out to fight the fires including my five year old ass. No fire department within an hours drive meant we were on our own. Lesson learned? Never wait for the “government” to save your ass.
Snort…Rednecks and veterans WILL always step up while the PhDs bloviate in their ivory towers, safely away from any possible harm.

My experience with large grass fires where the guvment sticks their collective noses under the tent, has been that the small task forces made up of units from several towns working together, actually put out the fire, while the command group, who are the only ones who financially benefit, try and drag it out as long as they possibly can.
Where I live, wildfires are all about overtime.
Mt. Rushmore – visited there when the kids were small. For some time afterwards they’d get a faraway look and say “faces”. Made quite an impression.
What language is the “Wa…Wa…Wa…” and whistling? Maybe we need it translated into a rare old west dialect!? Volunteers?
The male singers (“YoYo Echo”) sounds like a challenging Haka.
