The moment the bullet finds its mark, the masks drop, and the celebration begins. “For the common good.” “To protect our democracy.” These are the same blood-soaked incantations they have recited since 2016. Their “Big Tent” was never intended to include you.
They will claim violence has no place in our politics while immediately pivoting to label MAGA as the real threat. The translation is clear. Your death is an unfortunate necessity demanded by the Republic.
This represents the logical endpoint of a decade-long campaign of demonization. They call Trump Hitler. They label MAGA a cult. They equate border enforcement with racism and election skepticism with insurrection. Every institution they control, from the media and academia to the DOJ and Big Tech, has spent years programming their followers to view conservatives strictly as vermin. When the vermin start dying, the faithful refuse to mourn. They meme. The ratio. They trend phrases like “one down, millions to go.”
History is littered with regimes that spoke in the language of the common good while stacking bodies. The Jacobins, the Bolsheviks, and the Red Guards all began with noble rhetoric and ended with mass graves. The modern American Left has simply updated the vocabulary to weaponize terms like equity, sustainability, and the idea that democracy dies in darkness. It is the exact same meat grinder operating under new branding.

Interesting, BRM. The Canadian Beaver is still in service. You could also make a twin AN-2. Radial engines or turbo probs in the Arctic? What does MRSBRM say?
I say that turboprops are the wisest choice – they’re an engineering challenge, and then a cashflow problem, and then a regulatory problem, but they’d solve a lot of things long-term. If someone came up with the turboprop conversion, and someone came up with the cash to do it on a widespread enough basis that it was actually available, then that’d be a great plane for the environment. The biggest problems with radials in the arctic are parts and fuel… much as I love the radial song, having a lot more power at hand makes a lot of hauling, extended range, and a lot more situations survivable and profitable (thus survivable in the long term).

We had an AN-2 that got successfully imported into Alaska, but then it sat at my home airport and rotted at the tie-downs because the FAA *refused* to allow it to go through the paperwork to become a registered airworthy airplane. Long story, nothing to do with the ability of the plane to fly and everything to do with bureaucratic politics. She’s a tough old bird, a lovely thing, but with the old radials, they’re going to end up in the same coffin corner as the last DC-3’s that were eking out a living contract to contract… barely breaking even above the maintenance costs, and their A&P’s full-time in scrounging mode for more parts. Given the Russian arctic and subarctic is a tiny population and pretty cash-poor, if someone could take a metaphorical crowbar to the FAA’s ego until they opened up the American market, that would make a conversion and parts availability likely to continue.

Last, and most critically: fuel availability.
A lot of Siberia has *Absolutely Terrible* roads (not that their airstrips are much better, but the AN-2’s built for that.) They built the place so everything got moved by rail instead of road, and that’s one of the greatest leaps forward that’s held them back ever since. Expanding air capabilities would help bypass that bottleneck, but every time the Alaska Airmen’s Association looked at doing more friendship flights to demonstrate that the VFR air corridors were open, after the political situation, our biggest logistics hurdle was always fuel. There is no AvGas in to be found from Kamchatka down to Yuzhno-Sakhalin… the last flight we pulled off, we had to barge all the fuel in months ahead of time, and still having enough, unstolen, uncontaminated fuel even with the number of people who had to drop last-minute was a serious problem for the whole flight down and back. They’ve only got Jet Fuel available… and while it’s been *mumble* years, I see no reason for that situation to have changed.

This is why Mission Aviation Fellowship went to turboprops when able – most of the third world can get their hands on diesel, but not so much on avgas. Build the plane for the environment you have, not the environment that existed when the plane was designed, eh?
There have been at least two successful turboprop conversions of the AN-2 in the former Soviet Union. First, Antonov installed a much more powerful turboprop back in 2013:

I know there have been others, almost all one-off conversions by the aircraft owner (YouTube has some video clips of them). The only reason not to do a mass conversion of older AN-2’s would be cost, quoted in those articles as $700K to $900K. I’m not sure Russia could afford that much expense.
I would say the reactivation proposal has more to do with modern Russia plausibly being
able to maintain them more than anything else.

Despite the advances Russia has made, it still faces significant challenges in fuel, refining, and aviation engineering. The Canadians have the same general weather problems as the Russians and seem to handle them much better than the Russians do.
In the picture of the AN-2 what is the purpose of the attachment under the fuselage? It seems to have a propellor. Our Piper J-4 had a wind driven generator installed so we could keep the battery charged and use a radio.
I see that jury-rigged looking set up under the fuselage. It looks like an auxiliary generator. In the stock/standard AN-2, the electrical system is powered by a generator driven directly by the main Shvetsov ASh-62IR radial engine (engine-driven generator). What we may be seeing is a crop-dusting or seeding agricultural add-on. It’s very difficult to tell from the angle and distance in the photo.

Best state? Since I was born, and raised, in Texas, it gets my vote. However, if the perfect climate is what is and important consideration, Texas isn’t your state. It will steam you, bake you, or freeze you, and maybe only during a two day period of time. Your carcass will be carried away by buzzards, and fire ants will feast on what’s left scattered in acres of cactus, swamp, marsh grass, desert, or multi-acre thickets of stickered vines that even armadillos avoid.
What about the mosquitos and the snakes?
Honestly, the North Texan mozzies are nowhere near as bad as Alaska’s. However, they are incredibly tenacious – in Alaska, they go to ground if the wind kicks up. In Texas, I’ve been bitten when outside in 30-knot winds.
After one hurricane, and the power came back on right before dark, I had to prime my water-well. Even with repellent, I raked them off my arms, while pouring water into the pump. The hurricane winds blew the mosquitoes out of the salt water marshes, and they were terrible for weeks afterward.
This is the truth – I live in the Arizona mountains in a pine forest, and there are no mosquitoes here. Despite the presence of pines, there is no standing water, and without standing water, no mosquitoes. You can go out at night and not come back chewed up. The area is not buggy. In the immediate area where I live, I have not seen a single snake. I attribute the bobcats eating the chipmunks and squirrels. We do see squirrels from time to time, but the bobcats are incredible mousers – no snake food, no snakes.
As I was reading about Iran’s oil tanks filling and the long term damage, why would they not just dump it in the ocean? Seems like another way to create division among those who pretend to care about the environment and Trump. It also protects their long term interests.

Best state to live in—Since moving west 49 years ago, I lived in Arizona (all over) except Phoenix, Colorado (Denver metro) and Idaho. I loved everything about Arizona (except Phoenix), so much to do, so much to explore. Amazing back country. Colorado was the same (except for Denver). I lived in Golden. I was transferred there just as a depression ended. Everything was very affordable. Best beer in the country. Great back country to explore and mine—and then BOOM! Idiots and liberals, like cockroaches came from who knows where and ruined it politicall y. I retired from the Bell System and was offered a telecom position in Idaho. Life here has been great. We’ve been a rural ag area the entire time. When I moved, I was probably in the top 10% of wage earners in the state. Everything was and still is affordable. The wages are not the best in the country but we don’t have problems other places do. Most people are very polite, neighborly and friendly. We measure distance in time. Truly amazing back country. That said—-This area, Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Eastern Washington and Oregon are the American Redoubt. We have no illusion of this being a Constitutional Republic and not a democracy. FAFO would be the general philosophy.

Unless you work from home, the area where I live is not a good place to make a living. Some trades do well, but there is no population to speak of. That works out well for me, but it’s not the place to raise a family.

As a lifelong resident of the most dangerous state in the nation, I have one acquaintance who was murdered and one who committed a double murder.drugs involved both times. This state is forty per cent black, the statistics on black violent crime are well known so I will not repeat them. Few photos related to crime are shown , but the name Shaniqua and Dontarius are a hint. Can’t say the last time I saw Ray Bob Johnson or similar in a murder or other violent crime report.
Most everyone I know has a boomstick in the home and car , and many carry all the time, I would submit this adds to safety in most of our community , just stay away from MLK Drive after dark. You can pretty much walk any where else you please after dark .
On any given day most men in Walmart and many women are strapped. Keeps everyone polite.
Except for the blue turn it has taken, I recommend Michigan.
Mosquitoes are light, no hurricanes, no alligators, few earthquakes (none of consequence in the last 200 years) and only scattered tornadoes.
I have hope we’ll fix that blue part and with it, the budget.
There is much to be said for Wisconsin. Economically stable, geologically stable, fresh water from the Great Lakes. Cold winters keep the population of bugs and things to a reasonable level, summers arent as bad as the south or the desert. Stay away from the blue urban corridor from Madison to Milwaukee. The northern section of the state is pretty good.
As bad as the mosquitos can be, along with other painful and nasty wildlife, Florida stands as a pretty damn good place to live. Want southern Tennessee landscape and weather? North Central Florida. Want Alabama landscape and weather? The Panhandle. Want all the fun of Hawaii and the Caribbean at the same time? The Keys. Want Atlanta? Tampa. Want Sedonia Arizona? Clearwater. Want Boca Chica without the Mexican border being right there? Brevard County.

We have the first high-speed rail, privately owned, that’s expanding from Orlando to Tampa. And possibly from Cocoa to Jacksonville. We have the Florida East Coast railroad. We have The Big Sugar Express (privately owned railroad run by US Sugar, connects to the FEC and CSX. And they have 2 functioning steam engines, Pacifics to be exact, that run excursion trains.) And we’re getting three deactivated railroads being reactivated.

We have some of the best springs in the world for snorkeling and diving. We’ve got the Gulf Stream on the East Coast for world-class fishing. And good hunting and fishing around.
