      2. Ps. “Soda”…never heard the term “Pop” until moving to Colorado in’84. Same with “tennie’s”, we called ‘em sneakers (tennis shoes were for tennis).

         1. Pop or Soda Pop around here since childhood.
            A local favorite flavor is branded Red Pop (Faygo).
            When I went to Michigan I started hearing soda from people from the east.
            I have heard “diet” used as if the waitress would know what flavor.

   1. Traffic circles are worse when driving in Japan, OZ, or Old Blighty, where they drive on the left side of the road. I understand that it’s a habit to drive on the right side, but damn.

      1. When I was living in England it always used to throw me off when we took a vehicle on the fast ferry to Calais. Went around traffic circles one way in England then 45 minutes later you were going around them the other way when you got to France. To make matters worse you were going 50-60 mph on 3 lane traffic circles. Entertaining.

         1. I found that big one in Naples to be a demolition derby.

            1. Germany circa 1960’s maneuvering a 5 ton bridge truck with a tilt bed trailer around a traffic circle with German drivers not giving way was a ‘treat’. My buddy, Tom O’Connor, got pissed and pulled his truck directly across the traffic circle blocking it. He then stood on the running board saluting all the Rads as twenty or so trucks traveled the intersection. Tom, being lazy, only used one finger to wave while calling the irate Rads Nazi “m***********s”. Later, he received a stern talking to by his green pea 2nd LT Platoon Leader. Good times!

            2. Oft times you only need to use one finger to express yourself. More than one (Brits use two) is wasted energy.
