Caption: Kurdistan – What is an Afghan hound doing in Northern Iraq?
The U.S. forces in Syria are primarily based in the northeastern part of that country, with the stated mission of continuing the fight against ISIS. There is also a base in southern Syria, known as Al-Tanf, situated along the borders of Jordan and Iraq. U.S. forces across Syria have been subjected to attacks by Iranian-backed militias as well as ISIS, prompting frequent kinetic responses. They will be moved into Kurdistan (Northern Iraq).
250 Years Ago Today
A mixed group of British soldiers and marines, known as “picked men,” assembled to march to Concord, Massachusetts, to disarm colonial militias in British North America. It was easier to march to Concord than it was to retreat to Boston.
The Battles of Lexington and Concord, fought on April 19, 1775, began with a brief skirmish in Lexington, followed by further resistance in Concord. At Lexington and Concord, a total of 49 Americans and 73 British soldiers were killed. Additionally, 41 Americans were wounded and five were missing, while 174 British soldiers were injured and 26 were missing. Although the casualty numbers seemed slight in comparison to what was to come, they were significant at the time.
The British order of battle at the Battles of Lexington and Concord involved two main forces: a central column led by Lieutenant Colonel Francis Smith and a relief force commanded by Brigadier General Hugh Percy. The central column consisted of grenadier and light infantry companies from several regiments, including the 4th, 5th, 10th, 18th, 23rd, 38th, 43rd, 47th, 52nd, and 59th Regiments of Foot, along with the 1st Battalion, Royal Marines. The relief force included a battalion of the 4th Regiment of Foot, the 23rd Regiment of Foot, the 47th Regiment of Foot, and the 1st Battalion, Royal Marines, supported by two 6-pounder guns. On its face, the force seemed to be nearly invincible in terms of time and place, but that was not to be.
There is a lesson to be taken from the “shot heard round the world.” A strong central government with a standing army should not underestimate the potential of an armed population. The subsequent Constitution of the United States and Bill of Rights notwithstanding, elements within the government have repeatedly tried to disarm the American people. To date, they have been frustrated.
Free people don’t need the government’s approval to bear arms in their defense. The lesson was hammered home 250 years ago and is valid today.
Bullet Points:
** Welcome to the weekend. It will be very low-key here at the White Wolf Mine because I’m here, and my family is there for nothing related to discord. It’s a matter of scheduling, and juggling the schedules is no small task. Easter, while religiously significant, isn’t the traditional holiday that Christmas is when it comes to gathering.
** Taking a ten minute ride in Bazos’ flying penis (Blue Origin) rocket that cost $28 million per chair where you didn’t do anything but get weighless for a minute – and calling yourself an astronaut – is the ultimate in hubris.
** Canadian Immigration – a replacement operation. Not a theory.
** The best way to teach children about taxes is to eat 30% of their ice cream and then not thank them or give them any discernible benefit for the contribution. Explain to them that they’re contributing to the family’s best interests.
** If you thought that it was cool for Pedo Joe Biden to fly illegal aliens in but have a problem with President Trump flying them out, YOU need to rethink your position.’
** Heroes represent a society’s values and aspirations. If you don’t know who they value, you don’t know what they value.
** Some Europeans wonder why the US is lumping them (sorta) in the same category as the Chinese. What has changed? This is the situation.
** Looking at federated government from a Canadian perspective. Whose crown are we talking about? Most Americans view KC3 (current British monarch) as a pathetic joke. I suspect the Canadians do as well, but they have a different tradition that they’re falling back on. For the historical record, I viewed Pedo Joe Biden and the Ho as pathetic jokes, too. It’s not like I’m invoking some notion of political superiority.
** A discussion of fusion energy (sort of a goal) and tritium (required for fusion) that we manufacture in fission reactors. A solid understanding of nuclear fuel helps you to understand the transition path to more complete atomic energy, which can power the planetary grid. And while we’re on the topic, here’s another clip that might interest you – liquid metal cooled reactors. The coolant is referred to as a moderator (a term of art applied to its function), and there are several options, including heavy water, water, liquid metal, and liquid salt. There are also different varieties of uranium (regular and enriched), thorium (which the Chinese are developing), plutonium, and others. Nuclear energy is the future. As blog readers may recall, I favor the use of small modular reactors for domestic power in a widely distributed grid that is nearly impossible to take down due to its robust nature. I believe that solar energy has a limited function, wind power is a joke, and geothermal energy may have a future as it is developed further. Hydroelectric works if you have enough water. Tidal may work too, but it’s a long way from functional in a broad setting.
** Doing business in China. This is 100% accurate. The answer is to quarantine the PRC and to eliminate all trade with it.
** File it under a life at sea. There is a considerable difference between the ride in a high sea state between aircraft carriers and destroyers.
** A British view of farms, zoos, and so forth.
Democrat Rallies
Are you a democrat who wants to rant in front of a group of people, but nobody gives two squirts about you. Hire Crowds on Demand. From the website:
Are you looking to create a buzz anywhere in the United States? At Crowds on Demand, we provide our clients with impactful advocacy campaigns and events. We are best known for organizing passionate demonstrations, rallies, flash-mobs, corporate PR events, and light-hearted events such as paparazzi, brand ambassadors, and PR stunts.
We also have virtual capabilities, including letter-writing, social proof, and phone-banking campaigns. We can create turn-key advocacy groups complete with qualified, passionate leaders and staff them on relatively short notice.
These services are available across the country in every major U.S city, every major U.S metro area, and even most smaller cities. We even do campaigns abroad, coordinating with international partners as needed. We provide everything, including the people, the materials, and the ideas. You can come to us with a specific action plan, and we can make it happen. OR you can approach us with a general idea, and we can help you plan the strategy and then execute it.
That’s how it’s done. The Soros machine will bankroll it (from laundered USAID funding), and your supporters will be bussed to the event, provided with a box lunch, and paid in cash for their participation. Signs advocating your cause will be provided to them. They don’t discuss providing bricks (Antifa) for their hirelings to throw, but that’s certainly a tactic we’ve seen the left use over the past few years—pallets of bricks were delivered to the riot site by organizers.
Volcano Prognostication
The next major eruption is expected to occur in Alaska at Mount Spurr. It’s going to be a massive eruption. This eruption will wake up the Cascadia Subduction Zone.

Imagine a worst-case scenario, then multiply it by 10 – that’s what’s coming. By 2028, everything in the post will make more sense because the North Pole will have pushed further towards 3 o’clock.
Cascadia Subduction Zone – below

The Cascadia Subduction Zone (CSZ) is a 700-mile (1,130 km) long fault line off the coast of North America, stretching from Northern California to Vancouver Island, Canada. It’s where the Juan de Fuca plate is sliding beneath the North American plate, creating a high potential for major earthquakes and tsunamis. The zone is capable of producing earthquakes of magnitude 9.0.
History’s Mysteries

A Planned Expansion
El Salvador President Nayib Bukele plans to double the capacity of the country’s maximum-security prison—the Terrorism Confinement Center, or CECOT—the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday. Bukele reportedly informed Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem of his plans last month during her visit to the complex, which currently houses more than 250 deportees from the United States. President Donald Trump has also alluded to the possibility of detaining American citizens convicted of violent crimes in the Central American country. During an Oval Office meeting on Monday, Trump told Bukele that he will “have to build five more places” to house them, because the current space is “not big enough.”

Serious question: Did the cartoonist derive his character Butthead from California Gavin Newsom or did Newsom ape the cartoon character Butthead to establish his public persona? They look the same, have similar voices and inflections, and so forth.

End
What the hell happened to that ladies foot? She must be a mutant. AI does some weird stuff.
Not my work in this case, but yes, AI does what it does in art, but it’s getting better. The day will come (are you marking my words) when almost every film production will be in AI. Actors who are paid big money today will be replaced by avitars which are merely created as a matter of economy.
This is the first example I’ve seen of how AI is worse with feet than with hands – like you told me in the last few weeks – and it’s pretty bad with hands. This makes me curious about the algorithms they use and how they could break so badly. As we always said about software, “it only does what you tell it.”
There already being used in the PRC as news casters/news readers.
It would fit with the culture.
Beside the feet that is a great picture!
It’s proof (PROOF! I say) that Saddam Hussein had a nuke program.
Identify the Aircraft:
1. Grumman E-2 Hawkeye
2. Antonov An-26 Curl
3. North American NJ-1
4. Ryan Navion
5. North American FJ-3 Fury
Zing! Well done Surly.
The internet says Butthead was created in 1992 and the show started in 1993. Newsom became mayor of San Fran in 2004 so maybe coincidence. Though he does seem to act like the cartoon character.
He’s every bit the Butthead.
At least you can turn Butthead off, unlike Gruesome Gavin.
Yes, that’s true. Newsom isn’t even tolerable in the smallest of doses.
You’ve been really on your blog game here lately , Thanks for the history lessons , the Easter story concise summation , the quick wit , really diggin on it all . Hawkeye , got that one …Yay Me !!
Happy Easter Sir !
Happy Easter, Boats.
I imagine several of your Readers being Like Samuel Whittemore Jr., If we have the Revolution that Trump’s reelection has Postponed . He was one of my Hero’s as a Boy.
Bukele’s prison Expansion: Maybe Sandy Cortez can go down there on taxpayer’s nickel to stage an anguished crying session in front of the prison wall to garner even more misplaced compassion for these “mostly peaceful” tatted-up MS-13 gang members who run drugs and traffic children. It’d be a great photo op for the demented Left. Better yet, take Walz with and he can have a wine spritzer with a few of them.

Salt was certainly valuable currency…the salt covenant was critically important (as I learned from an older pastor).
Volcano: So now we only have 3 years to live, not another 12 per the Dem soothsayers, before this things blows? Margaritas all around….Skaal!
There was a time when Canon City, CO was looking at options to bring in a steady, long-term employer. The option they chose was to have a prison built.
There are plenty of indications of the damage caused by the Cascadia Subduction Zone. Still, many decide to live on the West Coast, and hope they have time to escape. I doubt many will, and the damage will astound even those anticipating an event.
I have to wonder where you live Jess? Must be neat to have found a place with no natural disasters at all! [Sarcasm]
A 9.0 earthquake – and aftershocks in the same range, a 200′ tidal wave, etc. will get everyone’s attention.
I’m like CW, will watch from here, a ways off. But if California breaks off and floats into International waters would anyone care? (kidding, sort of)
We have Yellowstone to our North and locust (excuse me, (P)regressives) infestation.
There might be some impact on Global Climate Change.
We have hurricanes, tornadoes, and severe thunderstorms. They do their damage, but there is usually time to run, and a storm surge doesn’t begin to compare to a tsunami that is a few hundred feet high moving at a few hundred miles per hour.
The gentlemen at Lexington and Concord (and Menotomy) basically said to their oppressors, “That’s the final straw. Now I shoot you.”
They were already battle hardened from the French and Indian wars.
We have some battle hardened people who are going to have to say, “That’s my child or grandchild you want to confuse and mutilate. That’s the final straw. Now I shoot you.”
The Bundy land grab by the Clintons in 2014 was stopped by the patriot turn out. The fear was probably poor press but they did stop it.
X2…and Harry Reid wanted the land for his pals.
There was some twit on youtube spouting off about how nobody could really engage in a successful standoff with the federal government in reaction to some clip from some show where some ranchers were standing off said fedgov stooges.
–
And so I linked to the Bundy standoff, including the video of fed snipers set up to shoot the Bundys (when the feds said there were no snipers) and that, yes, the resistors were on horseback and people were coming from across the country to join the resistance.
–
That shut the twit down pretty darned quickly.
–
As much as the Bundys were buttheads, they were in the right.
Don’t mess with Papa or Mama bear, get too close and “stuff” will happen to hasten one’s demise.
LL…thanks for the quick history lesson op about the 250th anniversary of the battles at Lexington and Concord. We easily forget these important lessons and how they are still relevant today.

For the Cascadia area assuming you survive the earthquake, aftershocks, and tsunamis your next problems will be medical care, water, food and looting. Major and minor bridges out, landslides covering a 1/4 mile of road, thousands of down trees closing roads, combined with the lack of power and drinking water will make things very difficult. Even those who think they’re ready will quickly realize they are not ready. Let alone those totally not ready at all wandering about needing help.
*
A simple example. Let’s say you have a family member with a bad cut from broken glass. Not life threatening but you find you go thru a box of standard drug store gauze every day. Do you have twenty boxes of gauze and ten rolls of medical tape in your supplies to manage that injury care for two weeks? Can you spare several gallons of water each day cleaning your hands before cleaning and tending the wound area? And that’s just one victim. What if you have several victims needing this type of help. Start ripping up clothing. The point is you will quickly find there is not adequate depth to your medical supplies, let alone food, and water.
The last thing I was reading on the Cascadia Subduction Zone’s (next) earthquake/tsunami was expect really bad west of I-5.
Al, all wise cautions. Our summer abode is Bandon. 5 kids and 7 grandchildren stretching all along hwy 42 fifty miles inland. I’d bet there was over a dozen bridges on the 75 mile commute to Roseburg 2 yrs ago. That said, I’m not a bett’n man. We’ve lived 20 yrs of our married life in Eastern Oregon. As life has unfolded, none of these kids moved over with us. We closed our businesses to live in the subduction zone near them. “No better way to die”… “laying down our lives for a friend ”
if the inevitable plays out in our lifetime.
–
If not we’re trying to live a lifestyle of preparedness, not just a Y2K crash course. Some of our kids have excelled beyond our efforts.

the “doctors” want to take away my bacon (a very dangerous move in any case).
I fail to understand, considering the amount of bacon and eggs I devour (though IMHO certainly not excessive), why my blood workups always come back with the fat elements in the comparatively low range (maybe they all plate out in my veins and liver?).
now they even want me to stop eating cheeseburgers.
I didn’t notice any reference to the beneficial effects of eating meat in this report.
is it the WEF (bugs and worms) that supports this research?
Yah! I agree. dying of colorectal cancer is a shi**y way to go, but to give up bacon is just not the answer.
* 60± years ago I had the pleasure of putting in several hours flying a Navion around North Dakota/Minnesota – what a beaut – almost as responsive as that ag plane (trying to find my log to check make and model) I flew several times (off-season)
Agree the Navion was a delight. The problem, it had maintenance and repair costs close to the P-51 it was derived from.
I was told by a urologist, due to lack of mucus production down there (which means the pipes are dry and that is very painful, but not nearly as painful as the camera shoved up said pipes in order to see what was going on. I’m a man. I cried. I screamed. I would have peed myself but there was a camera van and crew shoved up where no camera van and crew were meant to be shoved) that I needed to stop eating processed meats, especially those with nitrides in them.
–
Um, no. Problem was solved (partially by the damned whole news crew inside you-know-where) and I still eat ham and bacon and other prepared meats.
–
As to doctors, no, don’t trust them. Let’s see what doctors got wrong. Meat fats are bad for you (no, they’re actually good for you.) Vegetable oils are good for you (no, they’re bad for you, it’s fruit oils like olive oil that are good for you.) Butter is bad for you (no, it’s good.) Margarine is good (no, it’s bad.) Carbs are bad (no, they’re good.) White flour is bad for you (no, unless you have a gluten issue.) Brown flour is good for you (lots of people have issues processing the inedible portion of wheat that makes up the brown part.) Eggs are bad for you (no, they’re not.) Egg yolks are bad for you (no, they’re not.) Egg whites are good for you (only if used with the yolk.) Sugar is bad (no, excess sugar is bad.) Beer and alcohol are bad (no, they’re not, in moderation.) Tobacco use is bad (funny, a cigarette a day is actually a valid prescription to combat stress. And that whole lung cancer thingy is caused by fine particle damage, which can also be gotten from coal dust, grain dust, dust-dust, sawdust, airborne flour (the Romans diagnosed a disease known as ‘bakers’ lung’ and and and….)
When Mt. Shasta goes off, I’m setting up chairs in my backyard and selling adult beverages to those who come to view the excitement. I figure at sixty air miles away I’m safe.
It hasta be Shasta….
Henry Weinhards private reserve? Spent a season falling bug kill timber 30 miles SE of Shasta (Pondosa). That would be a little close. The northern beach of Medicine Lake (NE) would be a bit more comfortable. If you still have some Henry’s, then perhaps D.B. Cooper might be welcome if he’s still got the green, or would Henry R. Truman be welcomed?
That Cascadia Subduction Zone graphic, what does the red line mark?
Farralon Plate Boundary. These plate boundaries are well defined. The subduction zone, where the plate is being subducted under the North American Plate, extends beneath the NA plate.
*BREAKING!* “Tom Homan just announced they have uncovered a new gang of illegals and are running the task force to gather them up and prepping them for deportation. The gang – Tren De Arugula – is well known among restaurant circles, yet the previous administration did absolutely nothing to stop these illegal alien criminals even though the FBI has been “watching” them for years. The MS-G gang is entirely made up of illegal dishwashers doing what American Yute’s won’t…because it is beneath them to do manual labor and gets their hands dirty. MS-G “imports” known “contraband” foods through our Southern Border, then transports these “illegal foodstuffs across the nations interior to restaurants, damaging Big Ag’s monopolized supply chain. This illegal activity has caused serious economic damage to Big Ag by undercutting business with their Agriculture Cartels. Currently, Big Ag’s K-Street lobbyists are up in arms and demanding PDJT do something about this outrageous situation.”
–
“President Bukele could not be reached for comment but Sen’s Warren and Sanders are planning a taxpayer-funded 10 day…vacation…errr..junket to El Salvador, hearing the margaritas are excellent, and despite Tren De Arugula being from Venezuala. They plan to get to the bottom of this “emerging” threat to Big Ag, saying local family farmers are “unaffected” because they are small fish in a big pond…Warren, on a hot mic, said ”tough darts, they don’t pay our salaries or offer us free trips.” According to Democrats, PDJT has done nothing to stop the flow of illegal foods into the USA, but Big Ag has warned the imposed tariff deals have caused consumer prices to drop, which they contend “is not fair.”
–
The MSM has said illegal MS-G members are upstanding citizens of the United States and therefore provided “due process”.
–
(My version of BabBee satire is not the least bit absurdly different than what is being done by the MSM and Democrat warped mentality that is possessed with “Maryland Man”…”Mr. Good Humor man and Maryland dad of the year” if you listen to them. As Bukele told Welker (pretty sure it was her) “I can’t smuggle a Salvadoran citizen who is a criminal BACK into the United States, that’s preposterous.” Yet the MSM can’t seem to “get it”…like a broken record on the latest dog whistle shiny object they are advocating for the opposite of everything American.)
Well done!
Heh. A lot of coffee and a few nights of decent sleep makes for being in a goofball mood this morning, let alone anticipating the greatest event in human history. Plus, the temps dropped like a rock and it snowed (like clockwork every Easter) so needed something to do inside.
I wonder if those brave men at Concord and Lexington could fathom the tyranny of SCOTUS and their early morning ruling on deportation of illegal aliens 250 years later?
We’re just now finding out that SCOTUS didn’t have a problem with Pedo Joe Biden flying in illegal aliens…..
The ride in a high sea state while at periscope depth is terrible. It is much better a couple of hundred feet down. On a related note “prepare to surface” on the 1MC will cause select crew members to turn green, regardless of sea state.
Motto of the Whittemore brigade:
“We’ve aged out of going to the fight, but if you bring the fight to us you best beware!”
Yeah, whats with that?
Pretty girl. Feel sorry about her foot, though…
.
Yes, 2A 4_EVAH!
.
Newsome must have those “Invis-A-Lign” braces on….
AI STILL can’t do horse’s legs…sigh… “The lesson was hammered home 250 years ago and is valid today.” Which is why the left/dems are doing their damnest to kill 2A and disarm ALL of us…
I may have mentioned before , it’s not only AI that has trouble with hands and feet,,,a true artist can draw hands and feet but not all artist are true.
