I’m just touching base…
Are you ready for the weekend? It doesn’t matter.
Bullet Points:
** A note to Pedo Joe’s Regime – You don’t get to sink the ship and then brag about how many lifeboats you filled.
** The P-47 – Republic used turbochargers to give the P-47 extra boost at higher altitudes, above 20,000 ft, where the R-2800 started to struggle in the thinner air. Technically, it’s a turbo-supercharger.

Pressure from the exhaust gases spins the turbo, which turns the mechanical supercharger. It’s a bit more complicated, but that is, in essence, how the system works.
** Oil Production during Obama’s Third Term (Forbes) – It’s a short article – interesting numbers. “Given the fact that the Biden Administration hasn’t exactly been friendly to the U.S. oil industry, some may be puzzled by this production surge. There is a simple explanation. The price of oil, and technological innovations like hydraulic fracturing, are much more significant than any president’s policies.”
** Dodgers vs Diamondbacks – It’s been interesting to watch the Arizona Diamondbacks clinch the playoff series against the Los Angeles Dodgers. I do follow Major League Baseball. I think that the D-Backs are a distant hope for a World Series winner, but hearts were broken in SoCal as they humiliated the Dodgers.
** The impactor’s velocity was estimated at 20 kilometers per second (12 mi/s). The kinetic energy of the impact was estimated at 72 teratonnes of TNT (300 ZJ). The impact generated winds in excess of 1,000 kilometers per hour (620 mph) near the blast’s center, and produced a transient cavity 100 kilometers (62 mi) wide and 30 kilometers (19 mi) deep that later collapsed. This formed a crater mainly under the sea and covered by 600 meters (2,000 ft) of sediment by the 21st century. The impact, expansion of water after filling the crater, and related seismic activity spawned megatsunamis over 100 meters (330 ft) tall, with one simulation suggesting the immediate waves from the impact may have reached up to 1.5 kilometers (0.93 mi) high.
** Intelligence Officers in Action – TRAVIS AFB, Ca. – 1st Lt. Mike “Nostradamus” Creek is running a victory lap after having “basically predicted the war going on now” following a Hamas surprise attack on Israel that has killed hundreds of civilians and Israeli security forces. Multiple sources report that as recently as last week, the Lt. briefed the 60th Air Mobility Wing commander that the possibility of some form of violence in the Middle East was “possible.”
“It’s eerie,” said Capt. Tammy Wells, the Wing intel chief, and Creek’s supervisor. “How could he have known that there was a chance that something violent could happen there? I guess he has a gift.”

Identity the Aircraft:
1. de Havilland DH.108 Swallow
2. TBD
3. de Havilland Vampire
4. Grumman AF-2W Guardian
2. de Havilland DH.81 Swallow Moth
Me, trying to be tricky…sort of.
You will note that it took me another 15 minutes to identify it. :)
I had no idea what #2 was, at all.
-Kle.
I too must have the precognition gift….I’m envisioning the strong possibility of a serious breakfast in my future consisting of black coffee, biscuits and gravy, scrambled eggs, cinnamon roll, and a fruit cup to keep it marginally healthy.
Hah! Just back in…seems the hotel has that exact breakfast at the buffet. Do I get a gold star now?
‘the precognition gift’
Breakfast tomorrow at the VFW will likely be high in saturated fat, cholesterol, starch, coffee and no fresh fruit of vegetables.
Wow, that sounds perfect. When you get up from the table at a VFW feast your arteries should crackle or you didn’t have much of a meal.
I’m impressed.
My wife wanted a menu this morning, but I told the waitress she’ll have the usual.
And she did!
Heh..a hub should be able to predict his wife needs, altho dad would say to my mom, “I can’t read minds.”
That’s a dodge :)
Sounds good. Were the biscuits and gravy decent?
Top notch, as predicted. The wedding at the base of the East Yellowstone entrance mountain valley was spectacularly stunning. A good day.
Picture Perfect!
I think # 3 is actually a J-33, i.e. a De Havilland Venom in Swedish service.
-Kle.
Might be right. Venoms have wing fences while Vampires do not.
You aren’t the first one to point out how stupid our “intelligence” people have become…
And Pedo Joe’s Regime? Of course they get to brag. They’re in charge…
You all be safe and God bless.
When an intel officer makes a good call, presumably based on intelligence (mindset), instinct and info, it’s not fair to him to call it a form of ESP instead of skill.
Is the weekend ready for us?
I think not.
Intelligence Officers. I expect the good Lt will now be up for a quarterly award for his excellent work in innovative intelligence. In other news the sky is blue.
Craters, we have been blessed that another rock that size has not hit recently. Hopefully, by the time the next one comes around we will have enough of a space program to nudge its orbit a little bit.
Jupiter and Saturn are supposed to vacuum up all of the space debris. Sometimes they miss.
I wondered what might have changed since then.
Maybe an Air Force Achievement Medal?
Anyone here ever play the card game Wokelandia? It’s a satire of the woke movement.
Bravo had a TV series called Portlandia.
I didn’t know it was a documentary.
Oh, it’s definitely a documentary
Now this is weird, I’ve just been researching the Yucatan crater. What a beast, and it went pretty much hand in hand with SHIVA.
I that was God’s judgement on the dinosaurs, imagine our own.
