Progressive Scientists (who only study and advocate for “settled science”) have long maintained that the Greenland Ice Sheet is the “canary in the mine”. They speculate that if the ice sheet melts there, we’re finished and Michael Moore will have eaten his last massive banquet meal.
Not so fast. Scientists have found evidence in a chunk of bedrock drilled from nearly two miles below the summit of the Greenland ice sheet that the sheet nearly disappeared for an extended time in the last million years or so…before man-caused global warming. The finding casts doubt on assumptions that Greenland has been relatively stable during the recent geological past. The findings appear in the journal Nature.
The study is based on perhaps earth’s rarest geologic sample: the only bit of bedrock yet retrieved from the ice sheet’s base, more than two decades ago. The authors say that chemical isotopes in it indicate that the surface was exposed to open sky for at least 280,000 years over the last 1.4 million years. The reason would have been natural, probably tied to cyclic natural climate changes that have caused ice ages to wax and wane. The scientists say that in the most conservative interpretation, there might have been only one ice-free period that ended 1.1 million years ago. But, more likely, they say, the ice vanished multiple times for shorter periods closer to the present.
How did climate change exist before humans pumped greenhouse gasses into the atmosphere? Somebody find Barack and ask him. He’s been scarce since the allegations surfaced that his administration spied on the Trump Campaign (for and on behalf of the DNC and Hillary Clinton).
America’s university professors and their timid and easily offended pajama-boys need to spend some time far from settled lands with limited means so that they can learn a bit about themselves – and nature.
Running for a safe space in a land populated by grizzly or polar bears where you are not the apex predator might not be the best idea unless you’re sure where you are running.
It’s much easier to kill a herd animal with a firearm than it is with a spear or with your bare hands.
There is a humility that never comes if you are part of a class of spoiled, rich children to whom the law has NEVER been applied equally. Spanking has its place…really. It might be good if they started with CNN and MSNBC hosts. Or maybe public flogging in their case – they may enjoy the spanking too much and start begging for more – that’s just freaky/kinky.
