BTW, Wyoming and Montana are looking pretty good over Colorado where – as stated times before – 3 major Front Range cities override the other 85% of the state. I can relate. Wife and I watched California become Kalifornia, escaped to Texas in 2015. Elections dominated by S.F. and L.A. In the rural counties, every man, woman, child, dog, cat, cow, etc., etc. could have voted and it still would not be enough.

I once coded (“code blue” — as part of a team, wasn’t just me) a young woman awaiting urgent heart transplant because of a severe viral cardiomyopathy that literally wrecked her heart. She was in her early 20’s and must have been very athletic before her illness. So one night she flatlined and went limp in her bed in the cardiology ICU. Code was called. Someone started chest compressions and she began flailing her arms. Every once in a while you have to stop compressions, either to check if a pulse has spontaneously returned, or if someone is doing something with a sharp object. I had the central line (internal jugular) ready and called for them to stop CPR — so I wouldn’t lacerate her IJ with the needle while putting the line in. She went completely limp as soon as they stopped compressions. Got the line in, they restarted compressions, and she was flailing her arms again. Got intubated too, naturally. Three days later they took the breathing tube out and she could talk again. I asked her if she remembered anything, and specifically why she was flailing her arms. “Were you fighting us off?” (It hurts when they do CPR properly on you. Ribs have been broken. Though not on this girl.)
“I was holding myself in,” she said.
What?
“One minute I was in bed, and the next I was floating at the ceiling, looking down at my body. That must have been when I ‘died’. When they were doing CPR I was in my body looking up at all of you. When they stopped compressions I would go back up to the ceiling and be looking down at you. So I wasn’t fighting you guys off. I was trying to hold myself inside my body.”
Wow. Was there anything else?
“No. No tunnel or bright light if that’s what you mean. But I was determined to not die yet. This happened the previous time I coded too. [before I was on service; I didn’t see or know about the prior code –MC] Look, my throat is killing me. I’m going to stop talking now.”

In church this morning, a good friend of mine asked for prayer for those on the losing side and their emotional state. I almost laughed.
But his parents, himself, and his son and daughter are Eagle Scouts or Venture.
His son became a software engineer and moved to Colorado.
He stopped talking to me in 2016.
His relationship with his dad became strained immensely.
He’s been better some since 2020.
He is virulently TDS.
He is now distraught.
His faith in God is now challenged. “How could God allow this?”
They haven’t learned that what they sow is what they reap….and some never do…..
