Part of the reason for lack of ‘rigs’ in the US is that Xiden et al cut any leases in the Gulf before they could be awarded, and the rigs that were ‘planned’ to go there got picked up by the Chinese on long term leases. I am seeing some older land rigs being brought back in service in N. Texas though.
