      1. “Term Limits”, 2 Terms and you are out. Add to that a serious reduction in stupid “agencies”…those tow are a good start. Get back to foundations, adjusted accordingly for our more modern era.

         Even then there will be those gaming the system…they can’t help themselves. As Adam’s said: “Our constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate to the government of any other.” Morality and virtue are the foundation of our republic and necessary for a society to be free.

         …and as you say, those who gravitate towards “public service” are often not the best and brightest but the immoral, grifter, and narcissist. But good people are out there.

      2. One of the category errors is believing anyone or anything is exempt from moral rules. If stealing is evil, then it is evil for government to “tax”. If forcing other people to obey your church’s rules is evil, then it is evil for government to ban or fund abortion or sex changes. And so on.

         1. Historically, the one privilege accorded to all governments, granted by the people or not, was the authority to tax. Roads need to be maintained for the collective benefit of all. Gas tax, toll tax, whatever. Some taxes (on tea or government stamps) were rejected by colonists in British North America. But it’s difficult to have a government without some form of taxation.

            1. I think a good start would be a total ban on buying or selling stocks while in office. For the family, too.

               Any income beyond interest and dividends (and such) and the salary that comes with the job, while in office, to be taxed at 110%. And income after departure form office, related to office (speaking, books, lobbying, “media pundit” etc.) to be taxed at 99%.

               They should be housed and fed at base housing and mess halls, gratis while in office. No need for expensive local property. If they need to, they can check out a GS motor pool Chevy Malibu whenever, gratis while in office. They should also get free mass transit passes for DC. I would even be willing to pick up their cab fare on Gov’t business.

               We really need to put the damned “servant” back in “public
               servant”.

               Oh, and term limit goes for all elected jobs at that level. So you could be a town politician, a county politician, a State politician and a Federal politician, but never a US Rep and then a US Senator.

               Also, no gov’t bureaucratic job after being elected.

         2. It’s easy to have law and order without government, just spraypaint “looters will be shot” on a sheet of plywood after the tornado. Merchants on the Silk Road resolved business disputes without government (en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lex_mercatoria). By definition, no people ever consented to any government. That’s why they wrote “We the people” instead of the factually accurate “We the 1% of the 1%”.

            Claims that citizens won’t get the “proper” amount (calculated how?) of (lighthouses, letter delivery, canals, railroads, roads, bridges, airports, telco, water, sewer, electricity, police, armies, courts, schools, medicines, research, banks, loans, money, etc.) without tax funding fall apart when you study them.

            The strongest argument against the libertarian system is that libertarians are still paying taxes — if libertarianism worked they wouldn’t be. I think libertarianism is just waiting for the upcoming dollar hyperinflation to collapse government without getting dust on its clothes. But notice how many government permission slips it takes to work in the computer field: none.

            1. The Khan’s law was obeyed on the Silk Road. Failure to comply brought a Tyumen of cavalry down and the whole village was eliminated, and buildings were torn down. Fields were sewen with salt. Villages on the silk road paid their taxes else. It’s not a great example.

               ** Some have advocated the concept of the “servant master” who serves those he rules. “Our” leaders justify their tyranny on account of them being victims. Or as is increasingly the case, on account of how much their ancestors, or relatives, or people with similar melanin contents are CLAIMED to have suffered.

Mike_C – Why don’t you embrace your serfdom, join the New World Order and come in for the “big win?” Of course, doing so might require that you get a tuck and roll and re-pigment your skin with chemicals so you can be like everyone else in the TV commercials. You’d need a different set of pronouns and buy an electric car whether or not the grid will support it.

               There’d have to be a new (possibly brainwashed) perspective on our leaders in the swamp. You’d need to embrace Pedo Joe’s enlightened leadership and decry the rough treatment that Hunter (the smartest guy Pedo Joe ever met) has received. You wouldn’t need to get a “chubbie” when you saw Pelosi because — well that part would be gone. Maybe that would be a blessing because the chemicals you’d need to find Pelosi attractive would lead to chronic diarrhea lasting for the remainder of your life.

7. Waivers do not cover gross and obvious malfeasance. Whatever is left of this idiot company is in big trouble. And from what I can tell, deservedly so. I’m not claiming that what I have learned about them is correct, but if it is correct, it sounds really bad. Also, apparently they prioritized “diversity” (and lack of relevant experience) because they “didn’t want the team to all be ex-Navy white guys in their 50s.” Well, this is what you get when you choose diversity over competence and actual skills. Bad enough when a few rich people die a terrible death. But imagine this sort of diversity running nuke plants, water treatment facilities, flying big-ass passenger planes, designing public health policy, etc.
