Asian and US news services reported that a camera operated by a Japanese broadcaster captured video imagery of the North Korean Hwasong-14/KN-20 missile before the re-entry vehicle splashed down in the Sea of Japan, west of Hokkaido.
Missile experts said on 1 August that the video imagery showed that the re-entry vehicle apparently failed to survive the extreme heat and pressure after re-entering the Earth’s atmosphere. The analyst who made the initial judgment said the video supported a reasonable conclusion that the re-entry vehicle did not survive.
The North Korean propaganda statement after the launch stipulated that the re-entry vehicle survived despite the heat. Apparently, the propagandists were not informed of any issues or maybe the reasonable conclusion is inaccurate. In either case, the post-launch celebrations, including a dinner in honor of the scientists, engineers and technicians that Kim Jong Un hosted, suggest no one thought it prudent to tell Kim
One of the drawbacks in not announcing a closure area and sending ships to observe and collect any debris is that North Korean engineers and scientists cannot be fully confident about the terminal phase of the missile flight. That is a risk that Kim Jong Un has ordered them to avoid.
It is misleading to describe the launch as a failure, as some analysts and news services have done. The North Koreans do not yet have a reliable, complete weapon system, but they have a missile that can reach the US.

There will be many more launches before they put the nuke on top and send it to “topple the USA”.

  1. LL,

in North Korea the only reasonable conclusion is the Konclusion that Fat Un decided upon BEFORE initiation of the mission. Therefore, exactly as expected, all reports to the Kontrary are propaganda perpetrated by the Evil Aggressors in the US and rebels of the Southern portion of PROK controlled and under the influence of the Evil Aggressors from the US.

  2. I don't know why we don't privately tell the Chinese that Kim and his nuclear project must be gone by the end of the month, or the Koreans, Japanese and Taiwanese will all be provided with a nuclear arsenal of their very own, and the means to deliver it to any Chinese target. Bet that would get them moving.

  3. What's wrong with hitting them first, the hardest and repeatedly? Send China and Russia a load of popcorn and let them enjoy the show.

  4. A little snark. Any attack on the fat turd would cause casualties in the USA as the (P)regressives, leftist, and swap critters heads explode.

  5. Re-entry Failure – not porn. Well, I don’t want to read it then.

Having said that, I can’t imagine anything remotely sexual about Kim or his missile bragging.

  6. He's a severe diabetic with gout. I'm sure that he's not much in bed with that famous 3" tool. He hasn't been able to produce an heir YET. I'm guessing that is why Rodman visits, but Rodman hasn't told Mrs. Kim that he's been cut — yet.

  7. I can't rule out that it would happen just as you say. Trump will encourage but at some point, that will stop and his administration will act in conjunction with the Japanese to make things happen. How the Norks and Chinese react will be up to them.

  8. I don't think that the President is one to be trifled with. The Fat Un and his cronies think that it's a game and the US is frightened of them. Obama might have been but he was a lady-boy.

  9. Some people call Korea the land that God forgot. Not dissimilar to the South Side of Chicago, come to think of it.

Maybe both will go in the ensuing paroxysm of mutually assured destruction.

  10. I feel very sorry for the common Nork people. They're trapped in a hell from which death is the only escape. Fat Un, meanwhile, eats cake…lots of cake.
