What can I say?

Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration

In an era when the US Government distributes opiates, syringes, crack cocaine and crack pipes (made in China),  I question the $7.8 billion that they receive in taxpayer money.  How much should it cost to run a national suicide hotline network? Assume that you pay people appropriately, should it cost $400 million/year in direct and supplemental funding?

Ok,  I get it, the treatment for the mentally ill in America has been botched for decades. My serious question deals more with the inability of the federal government to do anything meaningful with a nearly unlimited source of funding. A stopped clock is correct twice a day. It’s a bar that the feds don’t seem to even try to reach.

WSF wants you to ID the Tank

Bullet Points:

** Character is how you treat those who can do nothing for you.

** Oakland PD is being sued over claims they let an abusive squatter inflict a campaign of terror on his neighbor, which culminated in the victim being shot dead as he fled his home with his pregnant wife and three children.

** Nobody complained when the murder clown invasion began at the beach. “It’s just one boat,” they said. “How bad could it be?”

** The American National Divorce – It’s a real thing, happening before our eyes.

** (h/t WSF) Puma tech – smarter than the average kitty…scientists estimate that a dozen pumas produce over 100,000 kg of carrion per year, a mass equivalent to that of the world’s largest animal, the blue whale.

  1. Okay, that’s a hard one. Also, a very special kind of crazy. How much warmer does the Tank Cozy keep the occupants?

My guess is a CVR/T Scorpion, with the turret trained aft. I would not bet $1000 on that call, though.

    -Kle.

  2. Tank- That’s a lot of Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune episodes…and mustard colored yarn.

Already have some “American divorce” operating; cell service, insurance, and a few other “providers” got switched in the last year. Needs more review as we live in a mostly Red state (CO) with large insidious enclaves of Lefty college bound infiltrators, arriving over decades. The rate increased when those enclaves forced “legalized Rec-Med” onto the rest of us…so now we shop in Wyoming or online.

Character is who you are when nobody is looking.

      1. Because it is! I could not identify the roundel but with your hint, it is indeed a Malaysian Su-30MKM.

          1. Ed did give us fair warning that he planned to digitize himself into the Matrix. It’s not surprising that he ran into Surly there.

  3. ID the tank: that’s Grandpa’s tank; Grandma was just bored one winter.

        1. Seriously just made my “AI” point above Ed with “ablative”. Since I wasn’t an English major I actually had to look that one up to catch the meaning.

Pretty sure it’s like a car cover only for a tank…you know, to keep the dust and bird droppings off overnight when you simply must have the pristine tank for grocery getting. Probably parks it out in the lot, diagonally and taking up to or three spaces to avoid getting a door ding.

Might take over “medievalist” from yesterday.

  4. granny said if you insist on leaving that darn thing in the driveway, she’d decorate it, and she did.

  5. treatment for the mentally ill in America-
Unlimited funding is unlimited profits to the right pockets, dealing with the problem limits where the money can go AND takes the amount to finite number.

Once you have a handle on dealing with the mental problems you can budget for just that, profits go down.

  6. When the Left finally gains control of the Supreme Court, the Left will essentially dissolve the States and make them just departments of the National Government. There will be no laws but national laws; and they will be onerous.

    1. They’re trying, and getting more desperate to succeed.

I hold to idea that the Dem’s/Left will need to convince 80 million voters The Constitution is null and void, no longer necessary, or THAT little detail in the Declaration; “When a long train of abuses….”

Maybe we – the good people – should start enforcing the Founding documents on these tyrannical losers. Gotta be a way to make them worried.

        1. Agreed. This is NOT the country I grew up in, and NOT the future I was promised. Getting to be time to smack the RESET button good and hard…….

  7. For the record, I’ve no clue what the tank is. Sent it to our host as part of my Mr. Maytag (always agitating) persona.

For extra points, identify the types of crochet patterns. (Again, I don’t know I’m waiting to hear back from some ladies who will know)

    1. Heh. Well, I expect “shit stirrer” is a common sobriquet for many of us here… it certainly is for me.

I guess people crochet toilet covers, so the joke is it’s a “tank cover” ?

      -Kle.

    2. “identify the types of crochet patterns”

All of them. It is rather comprehensive.

(Thinking she used the Ron Popeil Pocket Crocheter, the sister product to the Pocket Fisherman when the missus goes along for a day in boat.)

  8. This is a popular post and I’m not surprised, who can resist a crochet tank? I think it’s a Julette Mk. IV.

  9. It’s gone from contempt for us to desperation… And their stridency is only increasing as they lose more and more control.
