Why didn’t they put him in a “bulletproof-glass” box as with the Eichmann trial? For his own protection of course. Forcing him to communicate by microphone (which could be silenced at any time) would be an unintended and unfortunate side effect of the heroic effort of The System to protect Epstein’s rights.
We’re losing skill and competence in everything these days. What has the world come to when The System can’t even stage a decent show trial? Unless of course it was never about putting Epstein on display for a week of televised Hate a la Emmanuel Goldstein. It certainly was not ever going to be about uncovering what went on, and who was really involved. But They didn’t even bother to give the public the catharsis of a good Two Minutes Hate. I’m not a big fan of the theory that a post-cosmetic surgery Epstein is sitting in a resort in Eilat molesting trafficked 14-yo Ukrainian girls while the corpse removed from jail was a body double, but it’s interesting that They decided that making the legal-and-prison complex look like absolute fools was preferable to letting even the pretense of a trial occur.
As you are most certainly well aware “they” already knew what went on and who was involved with the Epstein debacle. I am a bit surprised he was arrested at all and my suspicion is that he tried to blackmail the wrong individual. After the arrest the remainder of that little play was just about a foregone conclusion.
Nobody in power wanted Epstein to testify. Once he started turning over rocks, it would have resulted in a chain reaction of politicians ratting on each other. Popcorn stock would have gone through the roof.
