Identify the Aircraft (The WWW Challenge)(h/t Wild Wild West)
Note, that in this challenge, please use the proper designation and manufacturer. For example, if it is a US Navy Aircraft, it will have a different designation than a US Army Air Corps Aircraft.
WWW our fellow blogger came up with a somewhat devious/difficult challenge for you all and I am passing it on. I don’t think that I could have got them all right if I didn’t have his reference material provided.
1
2
3
There is a difference between 2 and 3. This is a very tough challenge.
(1) R4D
(2) Either the Nakajima L2D, or perhaps one of the pre-war DC-3s. I think, the latter.
(3) Showa L2D
-Kle.
Kle nailed it.
2 is the Nakajima, 3 is the Showa and they’re Japanese knock offs. 1 is an R4D.
Nice work Kle! Just seeing this
A DC3 by any other name would smell the same.
I’m just waiting for Surly.
#2 is a DC-2 and #3 is a DC-#?
DC-3 fat fingers…
It’s a tough crowd, that’s for sure.
Still and all, might have one in my personal archives that might confuse them a little, if L-L still wants to play and I can find the doggone thing.
Identify the Aircraft:
1. Douglas R4D-8 aka C-117D
2. Nakajima L2D
3. Shōwa L2D3 ‘Tabby’
Know I’m a day late. Didn’t see this until now.
Should we call Customer Service?
This is a great post and yes, we need more planes in the DLC (get onnit, please).
