The Concord Hymn, by Emerson, resonates in my mind this morning. Last night a friend gave me an OATHKEEPERS t-shirt and I’ve been mulling that oath in my head. As I hear myself giving my oath for the first time so many years ago – an oath that is still valid – I harken back to farmers who stood on Lexington and Concord Greens to face the might of the British Army.

By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the shot heard round the world.

The foe long since in silence slept;
Alike the conqueror silent sleeps;
And Time the ruined bridge has swept
Down the dark stream which seaward creeps.

On this green bank, by this soft stream,
We set to-day a votive stone;
That memory may their deed redeem,
When, like our sires, our sons are gone.

Spirit, that made those heroes dare,
To die, and leave their children free,
Bid Time and Nature gently spare
The shaft we raise to them and thee.

Emerson has a way with words, doesn’t he? He hits it squarely.
Well over two hundred years later we correspond on the Internet in much the same way as so many patriots corresponded and we discuss the government that the Founding Fathers gave us. How would they feel (my previous post) about a government that gave $50 billion to an automaker who built a car that by all estimations is a lemon – and has the audacity to charge the public $41K – not including the charging station. Oh, in addition to the $50 billion, the government will rebate $7,500 in taxes if you buy the car and for a limited time only will “give you” the $2K charging station. The government doesn’t give anything. It only takes, we hope for the common good. Today does the government do us more harm than good?
Our presidents have let us down. Bill Clinton lowered the moral bar to the point where he was impeached by the House of Representatives for lying about having sex with an White House intern. George W. Bush created an environment where the American people were so fed up with him that they voted for barack hussein obama, a closet muslim, only a handful of years after we were attacked by elements of radical Islam. obama’s shameful performance as head of state speaks for itself and you can scroll down my blog if you want a legion of incidents where he has shamed America and the office he holds. There’s almost no end to the harm an out-of-control president can do.

An article in Investor Business Daily said this of obama:

The Wall Street Journal’s steadfast Dorothy Rabinowitz wrote that Barack Obama is “an alien in the White House.”

His bullying and offenses against the economy and job creation are so outrageous that CEOs in the Business Roundtable finally mustered the courage to call him “anti-business.” Veteran Democrat Sen. Max Baucus blurted out that Obama is engineering the biggest government-forced “redistribution of income” in history.

Fear and uncertainty stalk the land. Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke says America’s financial future is “unusually uncertain.”

A Wall Street “fear gauge” based on predicted market volatility is flashing long-term panic. New data on the federal budget confirm that record-setting deficits in the $1.4 trillion range are now endemic.

Obama is building an imperium of public debt and crushing taxes, contrary to George Washington’s wise farewell admonition: “cherish public credit … use it as sparingly as possible … avoiding likewise the accumulation of debt … bear in mind, that towards the payment of debts there must be Revenue, that to have Revenue there must be taxes; that no taxes can be devised, which are not … inconvenient and unpleasant … .”

Opinion polls suggest that in the November mid-term elections, voters will replace the present Democratic majority in Congress with opposition Republicans — but that will not necessarily stop Obama.

In my life I traveled extensively and still manage to get out of the US on business from time to time. I have never encountered a nation that did not feel as if it had the OBLIGATION to protect it’s borders. Not one. And I encounter a US Administration that is working diligently to break down those borders, openly surrendering vast tracts of land to illegal aliens and drug cartels — blatantly posting signs for American Citizens to keep out.
I never thought I would see an American president wage war with the police in the way we’ve seen barack hussein obama do it over the past year and a half. I never thought I’d see the US Government nationalize private industry – and a president fire a CEO. I’m not going to make an outrage list here, and those who know me, understand that I am not calling for a re-play of the original American Revolution.
I do think it’s nearly time for widespread civil disobedience against the depredations of the obama regime.
  • The power of the President of the United States must be reigned back to Constitutional limits.
  • The Government of the United States must adhere to the rule of law without exception for race that we’ve seen in the past few weeks.
  • The Executive Branch of government must secure our borders from illegal aliens, narcotics cartels and terrorists who can cross freely and without impediments today. Sanctuary cities and states must be held to answer for their VIOLATIONS OF THE LAW.
The people can do it again if they are willing.
By the rude bridge that arched the flood,
Their flag to April’s breeze unfurled,
Here once the embattled farmers stood,
And fired the
shot heard round the world.

  6. As usual your writing is awesome. You know it's amazing out of all this stimulous money WI was going to get a whole boatload of money i think for improving roads (get more jobs)….I have not looked yet from checking with my friends we have not gotten a lot of that money. Now it's already August and the road work season will soon be done. Can't put people to work in the snow. Also I love your bit about the "new cars"…Do people ever sit down and do the math? Ah let's see a 41K green car that will get 100 miles to the gallon? Only problem is I paid 8K for my vibe/get 35 per gallon and only buy about 2K in fuel every year. Dont sell yourself short America….Not all Green is good…..

  8. Black Widow – The $50 billion invested in the VOLT by Congress (on behalf of us) may not all have been based on bad intent. However, it was $50 billion we'll never see again, and it was wasted.

    This is the point. If I worked for you and trashed $50 billion would you trust me to spend a penny for you again?
