The hotter than room temperature (127C) superconductor is interesting. It could be a game changer if it can work to replace copper or aluminum wires. The whole reason for the structure of the power grid goes away (stepping the voltage way up to reduce the current and reduce losses in powerlines). Without those transformers, does an EMP still shut down everything?
Replacing powerlines depends on the cost to make it and to process it (form into wires, bars, etc.), how it holds up to the mechanical stresses it would see in use and all those pesky realities.
There are always pesky realities, but science marches forward and often takes some time to find its place in everyday life.

So the room temp LK-99 superconductor has only been proven in theory or is it ready for further beta testing? Either way its’ a significant milestone in the physics. Going to hold off on popping tops until it becomes clear if the result is reproducible in other laboratories.
as far as I can tell by reading the available material, it appears that the two named have synthesized the material: now they’re just trying to find a theory that’ll explain (to the satisfaction of their critics) why/how it does what they think it does.

If it actually works and the material can be manufactured in sufficient quantity, it could be a game changer. To date, it’s been a lot like cold fusion — but this breakthrough is encouraging.
