**The Broadcast with Katie Hopkins (right) on EdB’s radio show will take place a week from today. I didn’t specify WHICH Saturday. It will be September 26th. I’m half brain-dead from traveling. (Factoid: Katie graduated from the British Military Academy at Sandhurst on the military intelligence career track.)
** Some of you recoiled at the Cost of Kimber handguns on the blog yesterday. I checked and was shocked at the price. I paid significantly less than the present going rate for my Kimber Raptor 2 in blue steel.
** BRM reports: Thanks to the damage wrought to its finances, the Fresno Diocese of the Catholic Church has just told its pensioners that they’re screwed – financially, this time. What is it with church officials (across the spectrum) raping little boys?
** Old NFO is flocked again.
** Pres. Trump got Greenland – Cool (cold) – Details of the Pact Security Control: The agreement grants the United States permanent control over security and overflight rights in Greenland. Exclusion of Adversaries: It explicitly blocks non-NATO adversaries, such as Russia and China, from establishing military bases or making sensitive infrastructure investments in the territory. U.S. Military Expansion: President Trump stated that the U.S. will immediately begin developing a larger military presence on the island. Sovereignty Preserved: While President Trump previously pressured Denmark to sell or cede the island, this deal is a pullback from an outright takeover. Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen and Greenlandic officials confirmed the deal, noting it recognizes Greenland’s sovereignty and territorial integrity while boosting broader NATO security. The agreement is expected to be formally signed on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

Q – When do you expect the fifth book in the Duelist Series (Confederate Cipher, etc.) to be available?
A – Interventions – The word count sits at about 65K, so it’s about 2/3 complete. Depending on available time, I’d like to see it complete and available in November 2026.

Off topic knife –
My sister who is about 900 miles away found a Benchmade Greg Thompson SOCP Dagger last week on the beach and mailed it to me. Looks almost new. Going to send back some fishing knives I restored.
Curious if anyone has this knife or has met Greg Thompson?
I don’t think that I’ve ever handled an SOCP Dagger. Where is the balance point?
Balance is on the handle about 0.75 of inch from the blade.
Assuming it’s meant to make the point face upwards. Handle is a bit short for me.
This one is black finish with tan scabard.
That’s quite a find! They’re expensive too.
https://www.knivesandtools.com/en/pt/-benchmade-socp-desert-tan-185sbk-1-cpm-3v-serrated-fixed-knife-greg-thompson-design.htm
Locally in Australia between $175 and $210 depending on shop and model.
She did not think it was that expensive. Was going to throw away. I know of Benchmade but hadn’t seen the Socp
Greenland; Will the bases be located over mineral resources?
–
I like the cards Trump is dealing. In Syria he said we’re pulling out, but we’ll keep control of the oil areas. If the U.S. would have developed Oil industries in Iraq where would things stand today, 20 yrs later?
–
Duelist series; I can only think that the writing is getting better and more fulfilling. Will this project be the smoking gun of an emerging best selling author?

Kimber’s; …and almost everything else is inflated way beyond whichever way the data is being manipulated. So many things are making me feel like we’re being lowered to a 2nd world economy. Are black markets real here? A friend is injecting himself with peptides sourced through a connection purchasing in Yen. Many others I know are chipping and deleting to bypass their def systems. Better mileage and performance.
Bravo on Greenland! Art of the deal!
I don’t see myself becoming a best seller with 30-40 sales per book across the available platforms. If I did it for the money, I wouldn’t. I think most people who read my work enjoy it.
I enjoy your books very much and have bought most of them!
Thank you RC
Me too.
Exactly Ed… yet all the ‘self described experts’ emphatically stated that a Greenland deal with Denmark can’t be had’, then boom, PDJT is working behind the scenes and taking care of business. THIS while the Marxists in Congress and their propagandists pals in the MSM go full Scanners on Data Centers and AI: ‘Skynet is Real!…we’re all going to get Terminated!…run for your lives!
Bunch of ninny brats trying to steal the midterms again because they’ve got nuthin’ to offer except pain and suffering for ‘The Little People’, especially those fiddling with the fungible global oil market to help the unaware at the pump get ticked at PDJT as if it’s his fault.
BUT…there’s more from PDJT coming at the shills at warp speed, just in the last 24-48 hours:
– Bilateral deal with Mexico
– ID’s H1B1 Visa Abuse as a national security threat (step one in that ‘task’)
– China demanding the Iranians quit targeting Saudi oil fields…guessing there was a call from PDJT to Xi
– ID new Base locations for exiting troops from NATO Europe (tip of that iceberg)
– Signs Russian Sanctions Bill that affords him massive tariffs with countries doing business with Russia(Hello, EU?)
All THAT just in the past few days while the anarchists trying to hamstring American oil…my speculation…take the grid down for the Illinois Exxon refinery. Yeah, nothing to see here folks, move along. Prison is too good for some people.
gonna be an awful lotta euroweenies cryin’ in der beer/bier an’ hoppin’ mad at fru Frederiksen
watta shame
all in all I think I’d sooner be stationed at McMurdo than an AFB at KaffeKlubben ⌀ AFB
Yes, and Europe committed so many troops to defend Greenland against America. Old Blighty sent one on a commercial flight, and I think Germany sent twelve. Maximum effort from a depleted Europe. When the Danes bought the F-35s and sold their old F-16s to Argentina, it was obvious where all of this was headed.
.
I like to be busy when I am anywhere – even now in my dotage. I’ve never been big on the social scene, and I could handle the Arctic or Antarctic if there was sufficient work. Sitting around eating MREs until the next supply flight brought fresh food isn’t something I could manage. I can handle submarines only to the extent that room can be made to exercise between novels.
For example, I could work on a remote oil platform two months on and one off, but I wouldn’t go for the Alaskan social life. I have never been interested in one-hour romances with toothless, tattooed Arctic boomtown whores. I’d need to vacate the Arctic during “downtime.”
That scene at the beginning pf The Grey, Neeson sitting in that massive oil field bar. No thanks.
Does “Design still in use in Ukraine” mean they’re building and using V1 missiles in the war? They’ve got to be using better electronics than the V1 had. Same concept? Sure. Same design? I sure hope not.
The main difference is that the V-1 engine is a simple pulsejet that makes a loud buzzing sound and relies on forward motion to compress air, while the Russian-designed FP-5 Flamingo uses a repurposed Soviet-era Ivchenko AI-25 that provides efficient, high-thrust internal air compression. V-1 traveled at 400 knots; the Flamingo reaches around 600. Given that difference in engine technology over 80 years has ‘improved’, and a more advanced guidance system, the concept and execution aren’t all THAT different.
Besides, the pathetic Iranian-style delta-wing prop jobs are not any better than a V-1,
in some ways worse. Really cheap, though.
– Kle.
The V-1-style cruise missiles deliver a heavy punch. The Flamingos boast a 1900 km range. With GPS, they’re dumb but accurate enough to ruin your day – and the Ukes fire salvos, so hopefully one hits.
Greenland – one excited site called it a permanent deal. Apparently the site owners don’t know about Democrats.
There are different categories of democrats. All categories would sell Greenland to China cheaply.
Waiting for Boasberg to shut the deal down.
I liked that one picture of him surrounded by smiling Chinese. Hope it comes back to bite him, but not holding my breath.
“Waiting for Boasberg to shut the deal down.”
That ruined my evening….
Sorry…let the flogging begin until my morale improves.
“** Some of you recoiled at the Cost of Kimber handguns on the blog yesterday. I checked and was shocked at the price. I paid significantly less than the present going rate for my Kimber Raptor 2 in blue steel.”
Ditto. I gave $1100 for my Raptor II with the black “Kim-Pro II” finish, but that was some years ago. Sure do like the Kimber 1911s. Quality.
Aircraft #1 looks like a Soviet Arkhangelsky Ar-2.
It is! Well done.
Kimber? I’m a “good enough” type. 40 year old Charter Arms Bulldog. Many rounds downrange. No mechanical failures, Rare misfire, just pull the trigger again. The only semi I regret giving away was to my daughter-in-law, a Makarov, another “good enough”. Bless all of you who keep the needle moving by your continued purchases of the latests new and/or improved. May you continue to enjoy.
I’m the seriously odd man out, have a Byrna. Useless on a bear but not planning to get that close, and generally on high yellow alert when in Livingston or Bozeman, but when out and about most around me are already carrying, I call it ‘herd munitions’.
Given Colorado’s insane laws that is an alternative I’m looking into.
The only thing that I will comment on is that “chemical round incapacitation of 30-40 minutes” is complete bullshit. For those of you who served in the military and went into the CS tent and removed your masks, it’s nasty. For those of you who became accustomed to chemical agents through exposure, it does almost nothing to you. If somebody is high on whatever or intoxicated somehow, the effect of chemical agents is vastly diminished. I’m not saying it has no effect or that it “doesn’t work.” I only caution you that it may not work as advertised. I have seen people incapacitated with tasers, and I’ve seen others rip the barbs out after having been tased three or four times with NO EFFECT. In many cases, they work as advertised. Sometimes, on some people, these less-lethal options don’t, so be prepared for that. I’ve never seen anyone get back up after being hit across the jaw with a 245 Gonzales sap. Yes, some do move with their jaw hinge shattered, but they don’t move much. I’ve seen (Samoans) take incredible damage and remain in the fight with three or four .45 ACP HP rounds center mass. Eventually they bleed out and die, but some of these people don’t go into shock. Even lethal can take some time if you haven’t placed your rounds well enough. I’ve seen MANY headshots, including a 9mm to the eye at point-blank range that were NOT fatal. The people survived, walked, talked, and were “fine” after a fashion.
.
Adversaries with knives who know how to use them can be on you before you can draw and fire unless you have reactive distance. Adversaries with tomahawks who know how to use them are incredibly dangerous. A Gurkha with a Kukri should not ever be underestimated, because they practice (trained vs. untrained).
.
So nothing wrong with a Byrna, but if you carry it, have a sheath knife backup. Less lethal is fine and in most situations is sufficient, but have lethal available – advice from LL, your best friend in the world.
Agreed, altho doubtful most of the general public can handle the pepper rounds which give enough time to distance…maybe, thankfully haven’t had to test them yet. Also have the kinetic rounds, which have some ‘impact’ power. Legal everywhere, which is more comfortable when carrying, especially states and cities that have overridden 2A to control people. Have the CL version is small but comfortable even in my larger hand. They make a rifle version, law enforcement uses that model from what I hear to incapacitate.

“No brane, no pain.”
As a yungin’ dad would look at my latest injury …’No sense, no feeling’. 🤣
When I was working at the local PD and we were looking at getting tasers, I was ordered to find any and all information on ‘less-than-lethal’ systems.
–
Available at the time were stingballs (paintball guns firing pepper balls at much higher velocity than at the local paint field,) various batons and wads and bean bags fired out of shotguns and grenade launchers, high-power spray guns (tactical bear spray etc) and, of course, tasers.
–
All of them sucked, pardon the expression, balls. .25ACP was a better incapacitator than any of the above options. This was around 99-2000.
–
From what I’ve seen, not much has changed.
–
All ‘less than lethal’ works about 60% of the time. On normal people at normal levels of agitation. Key phrase is ‘On normal people.’
–
Against not-normal people, normal people abnormally agitated, dopers, people with nervous system issues, anything really out of ‘normal’ and the efficacy of ‘less than lethal’ goes down. Rapidly. Very rapidly.
–
The captain who put me in charge of the information search was not happy as she was all for ‘less than lethal’ (she was a bit of a harridan towards men and would not allow any charges for falsely reporting abuse.)
–
The Byrna is cute. It will work on normal people about 60% of the time. And if it does work, the local prosecutor will most likely file charges against the user as it will ‘look’ like a lethal weapon or something.
–
I would not put my life on the line carrying a Byrna. Or any other ‘less than lethal’ system. It’s not worth losing your life over.
–
I may sound all doom-n-gloomy about the subject, but I got to access FBI and Secret Service info on LtL systems, and got updated about every 4-5 years doing research for the PD’s SWAT commanders.
–
They sound good. But, no, a hickory handle or a strong cane is a better LtL weapon than those systems.
–
Just my two cents.
–
Considering prosecutors in cities that lean left all treat self defense as a worse-than-serial/spree-killing, especially if the self-defenser is Caucasoid, well…
–
They don’t work well in prisons and jails. That’s another big thing. They are easily defeated with clothing.
‘Cute’…oh boy, gonna lose my man-card…however…If woman don’t find you protective at least they should find you cute. 🤣
Let me translate that ‘cute’ for you.
–
Not visibly ‘cute.’ Oh, no. More like “Sure is cute looking in his cold dead hands” cute.
–
More like copulatingly useless unless you shoot the perp directly in the eye or mouth or ear canal from short range.
–
It totally sucks. But their marketing program is good.
–
Unfortunately you’ll be up against knives, machetes, someone who hits at 2/3rds Mike Tyson pressure. And, of course, real guns.
It’s shaped like a handgun, looks like a handgun, beneath overgarments prints like a handgun, and requires accuracy under stress like a handgun. A bear spray fogger seems to me a better choice if you don’t want a real gun.
On the tractor rollbar.
Here’s some info for you about Montana gun laws and their CCW process….
It’s worth having.
https://www.handgunlaw.us/states/montana.pdf
There ya go…and the online CCW is new.
Thanks for boosting the signal Larry. Re Greenland, maybe NOW they will kick all the employed ‘spies’ out of Thule… sigh… Danish my ass…

I view less-lethal systems much the way I view karate classes. They’re better than nothing, but when things get bad, and sometimes they do, those measures often fall short. I recall a situation many years ago where a brave soul took on an inner-city youth gang armed with nothing but a cross, confident that his faith – and the cross – would prevail. He survived the beating but barely, and they stole his cross, which was made of gold. The guy (who was not retarded, but exceptionally naive) felt that the cross and faith would be sufficient. It was not.
.
Chemical agents and ‘less than sufficiently kinetic’ like bean bag guns and stingballs work great in theory and on the training field, like doing slow-motion karate to show somebody how to disarm a felon with a knife who knows how to knife fight. The slow-motion karate works every time there in training. I agree with Beans’ 60% rule and think that’s a fair number. Less than lethal is likely effective 60% of the time and ineffective 40% of the time. So if you’re in that 40th percentile situation, what do you do when it doesn’t work and you don’t have an axis of retreat? You can display a gold cross, or a Star of David, or a magic amulet and hope the awe of stealing your gold object will dazzle them. Or you can put two rounds through the heart and one (failure drill) through the forehead and see if that works. As discussed previously, some calibers on some people who don’t go into shock won’t work as well as you might have hoped. They may be bleeding out inside, but they’ll still kill you.
Oh, bean-bag rounds and stingballs and baton rounds do work. If you target the eyes or side temple of the head or the balls or throat. Most of the time…

There was an incident at UF where a foreign student went whackadoodle because he was being kicked out for just about every reason you could imagine. So he barricaded himself, got shot by 5 tasers, a taser shotgun round, baton rounds, bean bag rounds, pepper spray, OC spray so heavily they had to strip the drywall out and replace it, and said dumbass still kept fighting.
–
Turns out said dumbass had some seriously bad nerve damage and just didn’t feel anything. And he grew up in a turd-world nation so bad air was normal for him.
–
It only took 5 rounds of 5.56mm to slow him down enough they could football pile the guy. And he lived.
–
I also worked at a mental not-prison-for-the-not-guilty-by-reason-of-insanity and they had one ‘resident’ who took a shotgun blast to his chest from 15 feet away and survived. The question wasn’t what drugs he was on, it was more what he wasn’t on.
–
Normal people can be stopped by an axe handle. Some hopped up druggie who has basically no functioning pain response system, well, yeah, you can hit him with an axe and he’s not dead until you cut his friggin head off.
