Bullet Points:
** Climate Witch Trials – In 1590, in Scotland, an elderly woman named Agnes Sampson was arrested. She was from East Lothian. Earlier in her life she had been a midwife and a healer, but lately, she had been living in poverty. She was tried, found guilty, and taken to Edinburgh Castle where, on 28 January 1591, she was strangled to death by rope and then burnt at the stake. Her offense? Climate change.
** The Big Guy – unmasked (Mail)
** In observance of Minority Mental Health Month, Therapy for Black Girls and The Holding Space Foundation are teaming up to host a series of online events.
** If it’s legal in Ukraine, it should be legal here. I’m talking about the Hilux – not sold in the USA. Why not?

(Ukrainian Hilux armed with two S8 unguided rocket pods.)
** If white people are so bad, why do people of color (POCs) keep moving into our neighborhoods?
Women are from here – or so they say

It’s the clearest picture yet of Venus.

Identify the Aircraft:
1. Junkers J 2
2. SAAB 21R
3. Bristol M.1C
The force is strong with this one.
In keeping with longstanding (i.e. one day) tradition, tomorrow’s musical interlude should be the Imperial March.
As for Johnny Comes Marching Home, the bomb run sequence from Dr. Strangelove also comes to mind.
Re Hilux etc in USA.
We were looking at cars to buy when we were planning a long trip to USA a few years back.
Could not understand why Hilux and similar were not allowed. Best explanation I found was that Johnson did a deal with auto workers union and banned them (used safely as a reason) and the ban has never been repealed.
Not sure how accurate the information was but I’ve used Hilux here in Australia plus about 15 other countries without any problems.
There has never been a safety issue with a Toyota Hilux that I’m aware of. I think that might have been an excuse, but it’s a lame one. They’re excellent workhorse vehicles and therein is the problem.
The Toyota FJ Cruiser continued to sell in the US but they shut down the line to force customers to spend $75K on a Four Runner if they wanted a Toyota in that class. The FJs were about half the price.
There is a tariff on foreign pickups. I think it is 25%. Crewcabs are exempt, they are classified as cars. I assume the tariffs, plus the ‘safety requirements’ make them unprofitable here.
I believe it was the early 80’s when the tariffs went in. The roads had plenty of small Toyota and Datsun pickups. After the tariffs is when you started seeing Rangers, S10s and later Dakotas.
Thanks. I was unaware of a tariff.

rel, there were two really large import tariffs imposed on foreign vehicles since the mid 70s and a few more smaller ones also. One in the 70s and the other in ’08-’09 when Americans purchased the major auto dealers here.
In the 70s, the more fuel efficient Japanese and German vehicles were moving the market significantly. US auto makers petitioned Congress for a large tariff on imports. Ford testified that the competition could produce with less expense and better quality using auto paint booths as the example. Overseas, the paint booths and assembly lines were new after WW II and accommodated larger vehicles with robotic painters instead of paint technicians used here. They said that a new paint booth would cost $50,000 and Ford couldn’t replace paint booths because of the cost. Congress took the bait and in went the tariffs. The same year the tariffs were placed, Ford gave their junior executives bonuses of $50,000.
The scam continues prohibiting vehicles which operate wonderfully overseas are rejected here because bumper height, light placement and such. If I remember correctly Toyota told me that the Hi-Lux was rejected because of bumper height being too high. The Opel Ascona GT Sport that we drove in the 110-120 mph range while living in Germany looked like a standard Chevy sedan. It was one of the models not authorized for import. The funny thing was that parts were stamped Opel on one side and GM on the other.
Also, we are scammed out of good vehicles now because of the existing fleet mileage laws. They require light trucks to be larger and heavier than is necessary to match the law as we progress to not being able to drive what we really need for our businesses. My ’18 Tacoma 4 door truck is almost as large as the original Tundra when they were introduced to America.
1980’s Japanese pickups arrived in Seattle without beds (cab and chassis) for tariff reasons. The bed, imported from Korea, were then mounted on the trucks. One problem was the beds rusted much faster than the cabs. The Korean steel was of poor quality.
A friend had a side business replacing beds with locally made flatbeds. Since I was in the retail side of the car biz, I found the trucks and then sold the converted trucks. If memory serves we did around 15 trucks.
The Ram Promaster City Work Van that I drive comes from Turkey with rear seats and is labeled as a passenger van for import reasons. Gets to the processing plant and the seats are removed and sent back to Turkey and floor coverings are installed over the rear seat foot holes. All because passenger vans are taxed sufficiently less than work vans that it is economical enough to ship containers of passenger seats, or throw the damned things away.
h
Makes no sense. But then again, I’m driving an American branded Fiat built in Turkey with a US engine. The world trade thing is weird.
Better replace the whole bracket. The Big Guy might have to pardon his son, but that would open up his testimony under oath against all the others. How fast can Joe sign the pardon papers for everyone else; and does an autopen signature count on those?
The pardon option will be exercised on his last day in office if Pedo Joe doesn’t stroke out and leave the Ho in charge of the Free World.
So an autopen set up like a dead man’s switch to sign a blanket pardon for anyone in epstein’s records right before biddy croaks.
That’ll include The Clinton’s for their criminal activities over the past 30 years…which will be the ‘tell’ that we’re done as a Nation in 2024. The Elected Scum have a solid foothold, are openly defying The Constitution and the rule of law they hold us to (and some laws that don’t exist)…and so will do more of the same until that smallish dumpster fire we’ve been subject turns into a Canadian ‘let it burn” Out Of Control Forest Fire. Their mantra is “Burn it all down”…and it’s [sadly] working.
anybody else see cocaine mitch lock up in mid press conference? term limits-yes, age limit- oh hell yeah.
The War Turtle is as old as Biden. He needs to find a quiet place to live out his dotage. The Chinese wife will likely dump him once he has no more power but if she did, would he even be aware of it?
But just couldn’t do the honorable thing and step down and go sit on the back veranda rocker overlooking the Kin-tuck-ee estate. Nah, that would be too easy. Bum.
Great videos.
I miss having a USN that was all business.

The modern Navy’s business is diversity. Their mission has slipped. I haven’t checked CDRSALs blog today, but he has a Diversity Thursday (DIVTHU) every week, detailing a new outrage. Couldn’t the new, diverse Navy paint their ships or are they too busy buggering each other? It’s sad.
Paint is racist. So is work.

Swiss Cheese Brain Joe is invoking the “stealth plausible deniability mode” to avoid exposing…err…excuuuse me…shaming the entire Biden Crime Family operation. He may not have been in direct business with “The Smartest Son on the Planet” (can’t refute it, the guy is still walking around). However Joe-Dad was certainly indirectly in business…hence the Super Secret Covert NOC Handle as cover for his treasonous activity peddling influence by and through Sonny Boy Cokehead Reprobate who IS a Felon and Tax Cheat. At least The Fowch Mengele was forced to finally admit he worked with The Wuhan – Not a Bio Weapons’ [snark] – Lab…with our money.
Hilux- Because it’s reliable and nearly indestructible. Simple. The Big Three scumbags who are in bed with The Federal Gov’t scumbag hate competition. Altho…looking at your posted model, and as they got all upset with Trump over his so-called mean Tweets (I just spent 8 days with my East Coast Brother and Cousin, Trump’s mode can’t hold a candle)…some in Congress would call that model an Assault Pickup, so maybe that’s another reason why they are “banned” here…which goes back to my “ninny’s and meddlers” statement that the Federal Gov’t morons have extended their reach beyond Constitutional limitations all the way to “Not-A-Planet Anymore” Pluto.
My absolute favorite Snoopy…needed that this morning.
That red spot on Jupiter, isn’t that the storm that is larger than the planet Earth?
That’s the one.
The first airplane identified as a j-2….All the pics I can find show a single seater…Isn’t it a J-8??
Or a J 10. Missed that with my J 2 identification.
LL,
I suggest you buy a new one and bring the old one with you together with your wife and have her explain the problem with a crack in a critical part.
John
The shipboard ops one brought back a memory or two…
Your “Men’s Help Line” reminded me of a funny male/female bit:
3rd date after two months, nice meal out, seem to be compatible and good conversation, then they start to drive home.
Her- Wow, that was a great date, I think I’m falling for him….I wonder if he feels the same, I mean we’re so good together, I loved our dates, tonight was a special, he’s such a gentleman, picked a nice restaurant, great conversation, I could see marrying him…I get goosebumps just thinking he’s “the one”. But…I wonder what he’s thinking, he’s being so quiet, maybe he didn’t have such a good time, maybe he’s going to dump me, Oh, NO! I’ll be crushed if he doesn’t kiss me goodnight. Still nothing from him, I’ll bet he’s seeing someone else…Oh, I’m going to cry, this is devastating!
Him: When did I last changed the oil? It was right after we went camping up in the hills. Yeah, had to be 4,000 miles ago…and now I hear a slight tick. Better get to the store for some oil and a filter and do that tomorrow…maybe go synthetic this time.
LOTS of people want Toyota to bring the HiLux back here!
They keep moving in because we keep moving out? Once the camel’s nose is in the neighborhood, it’s time to split….
Yep. Just like Venus. Hot, Toxic, with violently unpredictable winds of emotion.
I’ve never seen Jupiter do colorful. I still remember the thrill I got when I looked through a good-sized telescope, and could actually see some color in the Great Red Spot. If you have a shortwave receiver, you can hear the radio noise at around 20 MHz increase when Jupiter comes up over the Horizon.

Replace the whole bracket. It’s the only way to be sure…..
Jupiter is art. How beautiful.
Venus looks so dark and moody. Like a tempest rolling in over the testy sea.
John Gray’s book asserts that “woman are from Venus”…
See, I knew someone would get it!
Well, I do have a little English ancestry. Unsure how that happened with the Scots-Irish, but hey, I like Celtic music AND Yorkshire Pudding…altho, never at the same time.
Jules, should I start calling you “Stormy”?
