Medusa (if things had gone differently for Perseus)
Medusa carries Perseus’ head low, at her side, and not aloft in triumph. This is not a self-aggrandizing hero lauding her great deed. This is a woman who wanted to be left alone. (Luciano Garbati, 2008)
I expect that Perseus commented that Medusa had put on a few pounds, extra junk in the trunk or the like. Cause and effect.
The older I get, the more I can identify with the fairy tale witches who moved out into the deep woods to get away from people and then killed people who showed up and bothered them.
And now, a few memes

NOT F-86 Sabers

Indeed not. U.S. Navy.
How can you tell FJ-3s from FJ-4s?
The FJ-4’s were completely different aircraft, completely redesigned. The 4 had a bigger, thinner wing that tapered more sharply as it approached the tips, a beefier landing gear with a wider track, and a tail that was thinner.
I don’t know if I could tell them apart unless I spent some time carefully examining them. The USS Midway in San Diego has an FJ-3 on display, and that’s the only one I’ve ever seen. There’s a privately owned FJ-4 in Wilson, WY.
The FJ-3 had a problem with its take off weight and mechanical issues that were fixed with the FJ-4 but I couldn’t tell them apart, WSF.
I don’t want to sound out of court or somehow weak, but I’d think twice before crossing that Medusa. Hey, everyone else might think differently. That’s… their call.
I have a friend who swears that he was MARRIED to Medusa. Was, being the operant word here.
I totally get that.
Supposedly ‘fun’ to land on the carrier. The spool up time on those cannanular engines was NOT great!
The tail hook is one way to tell who they belong to, but no, I wouldn’t want to land or take off from an aircraft carrier on an FJ-3.
Given the background I would say Lemoore NAS. Did NLC have F-3s?
Nyet. VF-33 was NJK El Centro.
The word in Lemoore is, Thank God its not El Centro. I’m being polite.
Yes, -154 had Furies.
I’ve been to the Navy base in El Centro a few times. El Centro is referred to as “rat land”.
Accurate.
