The Tesla CEO’s tweet follows Treasury Department Deputy Secretary and inner-city person Wally Adeyemo’s desperate public plea for billions of dollars in more funding for the IRS.

X2…my thoughts as well….starts with Faith in God (joy is from within), then exudes outward from there. It’s that Matt 5:14 deal, be the light that others wish to emulate. Being frustrated ‘at the world’ is a waste of energy (as I spout off here regularly – heh). Go for a hike, look at a sunset, and do something meaningful for someone, happiness will result.
One cannot have happiness without meaning.

How is it inside of 30 seconds Jordan Peterson can so easily encapsulate some complex behavioral concept and make it repeatably understandable? “The Sociopath Next Door” was very interesting, eye opening, but took an entire book…Peterson can cover the important aspects in 3 minutes. I prefer his no nonsense thinking, delivered in a “draw you in” manner. Profound thinker that one.

Do her techniques work? Some say yes, others say hooey. But she gets discredited without proving one way or the other because she is cutting into Big Pharma’s bottom line and systemic control. Some would be wrong. I don’t have audio on the clip [1] so I don’t know what the actual dialog is, but I’d argue that true happiness is impossible without purpose. Maybe the person is conflating hedonism with happiness. They aren’t the same. We H. sap are wired to strive, to struggle even, to overcome [2].

I’d further argue that service to a thing bigger than yourself is also important. That could be God, or your folk (volk), your family. Hell, it could be a passion for taking care of abandoned pets. Or creating a good prosthetic hand for amputees. But something other than your own petty wants and desires. If that sounds “anti-liberty” (or anti-libertarian), too bad. And also a dumb misinterpretation. The problem is someone/something EXTERNALLY imposing it on you. Holy State by the hard leftists, or Holy People’s Will by the soft leftists, or some peculiar vision of the Divine by a religious totalitarian, it’s all wrong and bad. The drive to purpose and to service must come from within.

I’ve never been a fan of golf, oddly, though my mother’s mother was. I think it was stylish in the ’20s/’30s? See Lake Como’s Brit ExPat imperial as was setup.
Still, when people invite me out for dam golf I ask, “Can I shoot the balls, maybe with a .22?”

In the movie Sweet Land (2005, watch it) – besides the half dozen overarching themes – there is one scene where the Norwegian bachelor farmer states without equivocation: “banking and farming do not mix.”…a week later his neighbors farm is being repossessed by the bank because he had a bad crop year (banker well played by Ned Beatty).

Prime rolled into the next movie, one I have yet to watch, Sicario. Heh…must be a Sheridan night for me.
Hell or High Water is one of the better flims out there. Have you seen Wind River?
Wind River was our first knowledge of Sheridan, he captured the subject and feel of the area and struggle perfectly. One of our favorites. Yet another movie where he picked a difficult subject then exposed both the truth and harsh reality. While I have not watched Yellowstone it’s a correct but dramatized version of legacy ranch life with the fight against takeover by others, the fight against enviro’s who think their burgers come from the supermarket, and with enough general public ignorance tossed into the mix for good measure. Americans have gotten so far from their food sources they have no clue what it takes (never ask a rancher the size of his ranch or the number of cattle he owns).
Wind River is an excellent movie. Great cast, good plot, and knock-yer-socks-off cinematography.
