Police officers such as I once was, go in and out of ER rooms all of the time and the burnt out MDs on 36ers seemed stupid to me. It’s easy to make a mistake and in busy ERs, they don’t have the ability to doze off on a gurney as many do in less busy situations.

   2. 500 mile range will be useful in moving containers from ports to distribution centers. 500 miles East of Reno on 1-80, especially in the winter, will be a bonanza for the heavy wrecker industry.

      1. They went public with the number. Many people are skeptical with Musks number with the CyberTaxi too. $30K for a self-driving car. The driving version of the CyberTaxi will undercut other Tesla models except that it’s bare bones. I’m sure they’ve thought it through.

Unless “they” manage to put over (like last time) an enormous cheat/swindle on the American people, I don’t think there’s anyone who, at this point, doubts that The Donald will be POTUS; the problem I have is that he will require a strong Conservative (at least Trump-aligned) majority in Congress to back his plans or he’ll have to proceed in the manner of our AC/DC (that would be short for current) lieder(?): EOs, which, IMHO, would be highly unfortunate.
   What I totally fail to understand: a number of “Liberals” I know (some are intelligent people who actually, from time to time, use their grey matter and will speak with me on matters political) are actually going to vote (or already have) for The Dromedary: autonomic reflex, I guess.
   One question (again totally off topic, but it doesn’t let me sleep at night):
   why are the majority of the European leaders (and their propaganda machines) projecting “Putin paranoia”, likening Vladimir Vladimirovich and the current situation with Donetsk and Luhansk to The Sudetenland and the little mustachioed corporal in ’38? Does Finland (the people and their leaders) honestly believe that he intends to annex parts or the whole or is this something else entirely (that appears to have completely passed me by)?

   1. I personally believe that we (the royal “we”, not you and I) need to find rapprochement with Russia, and focus on China, the world’s common enemy. My opinion of Putin is not negative, it’s neutral. Putin will do what he thinks is necessary for Russia (and for Putin which may not be the same thing) and I don’t fault him for that. The US has acted in bad faith at so many levels that nobody should trust us. That needs to change but over 20 years. A four year presidential term can’t tame the swamp or indicate a national change of character.

7. Nuclear Power:
   we’re still at the level of the early/mid 18th Century when Newcomen/Watt developed a working steam engine. If we’re going to employ “nuclear power”, I think we’re going to have to begin looking at it as other than a means of heating water (or some other liquid) to drive machinery to rotate armatures in a magnetic field.

   1. At the moment, steam seems to be the most efficient use of nuclear generators capacity, but I don’t disagree with you. Once fusion energy comes into use we should have a better grasp on magnetic field potentiality because that’s what contains the mini-sun that you light off.

      1. When I explain nuclear power to people, and I did recently, and tell them that part about steam, they get incredulous.
         It really is a Steampunk Generator.
         But as you mention fusion power, wouldn’t it be funny if there was a process that actually gave us direct current and locally.
         No big ass transformers or elevated towers for power transmission.
         I can’t imagine magnetic induction without collapsing expanding fields (AC), but there’s lot of stuff I can’t imagine that seems to work already.
         I haven’t been clear on how the SMRs handle generation.

            are there any isotopes that produce enough β− particles that can be picked up/surrounded by “something like an anode in an electron tube (while shielding the radioactive mass at the same time)”; this might eliminate using only the generation of heat by radioactive decay (convert to steam) to produce (electrical) energy (which, to my mind, is a complete waste). of couse if the anode is an hermetically-sealed ball, y’ could dump the whole thing in a tank of water for cooling and heat exchange as well.

Think about it, are they hand picked and groomed from an early age or do they fall into it by happenstance?    1. People are groomed. Barack was an example of that. A fundamentally flawed human being was molded into what he’s become. In the case of Harris, they were simply looking for a skin tone and plumbing biologically. They kept her quiet during her time in the White House because she was a loose cannon. She stayed home at the VP res at the Naval Observatory for the most part. Her staff turned over regularly because she was such a bitch to be around. Now the skin tone and female orientation again have become useful. Though I don’t think that the democrats themselves thought she could beat President Trump this time. They painted themselves into a corner. Two years ago they could have declared Pedo Joe NCP and bounced him on the 25th Amendment. A competent VP could have been installed who could have run in 2024 would have solved their Kamala problem. But there was too much in fighting among the donkey factions.

He greased his way through college even though his professors, the ones that actually remembered him being in the classes, said he woefully underperformed. 9. It’s going to be tough going to rid important positions acquired by people like Harris. Government, and private enterprises, are full of the deviant, worthless pukes that aren’t qualified to pour piss out of a boot. It’s important the effort starts as soon as possible.

10. Musk Homes- Levittown comes to mind, but more so is FLW’s Usonian…Musk is taking Wright’s concept and applying his unique genius with modern tech to make it work (I have no doubt). Manufactured homes and newer building tech has made great strides (we built log but next one would be SIP over a post and beam frame…and a lot smaller). In contrast to practical design/build, and short of owner built satisfaction, I never understood why anyone would build then live in a 6’x16′ “Tiny House” on a flatbed when you could buy a 5th Wheel for a lot less, which has more room and all the accoutrements and systems.

A single data point isn’t a great example, but the one friend I know who built and still resides in his Tiny House after more than 8 years… grew up on a homestead in Alaska, so the concept of a cabin not much bigger than a boat was nothing new for him. He ended up poor in the city, and hating every minute of it. Rather than go into debt, he saved up and bought the land in Montana, and then he built his tiny house paycheck by paycheck, first in the covered parking, then in trips out to the land. He’s still out there to this day with his girl, her horse(s), and their dogs.

       Most of the folks we’ve heard of who get into tiny houses because it’s trendy and cool and they can pretend it’s not the same thing as a mobile home at all… are like most of the folks who thought it’d be romantic to live on sailboats. After a few years, they “used to”. There’s a reason a lot of tiny houses end up as weekend cabin rentals.

    3. Why not 5th Wheels and other travel trailers? Because they suck. They are built to be light and just comfortable enough, not to be really comfortable.

       But what bugs me about the ‘tiny house’ people is they’ll spend about the same amount to build a 6×16 micro house as they could spend on a decent quality single-wide mobile home. Sure, there are those that have built for less than $10K, but most are in the, in the end, $50-60K range.

       The mind boggles as to the stupidity, as then the ‘tiny house’ people have to find some place to squat and most trailer parks won’t let them in, only allowing commercially manufactured trailers or mobile homes, due to insurance issues. Instead they openly brag about how they go bogart someone else’s electricity and water, like family members and friends, and then don’t/won’t understand when they get treated like the freeloaders that they are.

       1. Again, I see these glamp like houses as being racked, still as mobile as most mobile homes. Maybe 3 stories. Not unlike most apartments except you have an equity stake.
