Yes, it’s that time of year. Tomorrow’s the big day!
There’s no way we’d be lucky enough for them to take out the War Turtle and Crying Chuck tomorrow…
Men, like nations, think they’re eternal. What man in his 20s or 30s doesn’t believe, at least subconsciously, that he’ll live forever? In the springtime of youth, an endless summer beckons. As you pass through your 60s, it’s harder to hide from reality…. as you lose friends and relatives. Nations also have seasons: Imagine a Roman of the 2nd century contemplating an empire that stretched from Britain to the Near East, thinking: This will endure forever…. Forever was about 500 years, give or take…. not bad, but gone!!
France was pivotal in the 17th and 18th centuries; now the land of Charles Martel is on its way to becoming part of the Muslim ummah. In the 19th and early 20th centuries, the sun never set on the British empire; now Albion exists in perpetual twilight. King Cider, the sovereign is a fitting symbol for a nation in terminal decline. In the 1980s, Japan seemed poised to buy the world. Business schools taught Japanese management techniques. Today, its birth rate is so low and its population aging so rapidly that an industry has sprung up to remove the remains of elderly Japanese who die alone.
I was born after the midpoint of the 20th century – the American century. America’s prestige and influence were never greater. Thanks to the ‘Greatest Generation,’ we won a World War fought throughout most of Europe, Asia, and the Pacific. We reduced Germany to rubble and put the rising sun to bed. It set the stage for almost half a century of unprecedented prosperity. We stopped the spread of communism in Europe and Asia and fought international terrorism. We rebuilt our enemies and lavished foreign aid on much of the world. We built skyscrapers and rockets to the moon. We conquered Polio and now COVID. We explored the mysteries of the Universe and the wonders of DNA…the blueprint of life. But where is the glory that once was Rome? America has moved from a relatively free economy to socialism – which has worked so well NOWHERE in the world.
We’ve gone from a republican government guided by a constitution to a regime of revolving elites, some too dumb to pour sand out of a boot. We have less freedom with each passing year. Like a signpost to the coming reign of terror, the cancel culture is everywhere. We’ve traded the American Revolution for the Cultural Revolution. The pathetic creature in the White House is an empty vessel filled by his handlers. At the G-7 Summit, ‘Dr. Jill’ had to lead him like a child. In 1961, when we were young and vigorous, our leader was too. Now a feeble nation is technically led by the oldest man to ever serve in the presidency. We can’t defend our borders, our history (including monuments to past greatness) or our streets. Our cities have become anarchist playgrounds. We are a nation of dependents, mendicants, and misplaced charity. Homeless veterans camp in the streets while illegal aliens are put up in hotels. The president of the United States can’t even quote the beginning of the Declaration of Independence (‘You know – The Thing’) correctly. Ivy League graduates routinely fail history tests that 5th graders could pass a generation ago.
Crime rates soar and we blame the 2nd. Amendment and slash police budgets. Our culture is certifiably insane. Men who think they’re women. People fight racism by seeking to convince members of one race that they’re inherently evil, and others that they are perpetual victims. A psychiatrist lecturing at Yale said she fantasizes about ‘unloading a revolver into the head of any white person.’ We slaughter the unborn in the name of freedom, while our birth rate dips lower year by year. Our national debt is so high that we can no longer even pretend that we will repay it one day. It’s a $30-trillion monument to our improvidence and refusal to confront reality. Our ‘entertainment’ is sadistic, nihilistic, and as enduring as a candy bar wrapper thrown in the trash. Our music is the noise that spans the spectrum from annoying to repulsive. Patriotism is called an insurrection, treason celebrated, and perversion sanctified. A man in blue gets less respect than a man in a dress. We’re asking soldiers to fight for a nation our leaders no longer believe in.
How meekly most of us submitted to Fauci-ism (the regime of face masks, lockdowns, and hand sanitizers) shows the impending death of the American spirit. How do nations slip from greatness to obscurity?
* Fighting endless wars they can’t or won’t win
* Accumulating massive debt far beyond their ability to repay
* Refusing to guard their borders, allowing the nation to be inundated by an alien horde
* Surrendering control of their cities to mob rule
* Allowing indoctrination of the young
* Moving from a republican form of government to an oligarchy
* Losing national identity
* Indulging indolence
* Abandoning God, faith, and family – the bulwarks of any stable society.
In America, every one of these symptoms is pronounced, indicating an advanced stage of the disease. Even if the cause seems hopeless, do we not have an obligation to those who sacrificed so much to give us what we had? I’m surrounded by ghosts urging me on — the battered bastards of Bastogne, those who served in the cold hell of Korea, the guys who went to the jungles of Southeast Asia and came home to be reviled or neglected. This is the nation that took in my immigrant ancestors, whose uniform my father and most of my uncles wore in the Second World War. I don’t want to imagine a world without America, even though it becomes increasingly likely. During Britain’s darkest hour, when its professional army was trapped at Dunkirk and a German invasion seemed imminent, Churchill reminded his countrymen, ‘Nations that go down fighting rise again, and those that surrender tamely are finished.’ The same might be said of causes. If we let America slip through our fingers if we lose without a fight, what will posterity say of us?
While the prognosis is far from good. Only God knows if America’s day in the sun is over.” Read it and weep, forward or erase it! I read it and am now forwarding it to you, believing that we in America are at the moment in time to stand up, or let it fall! We now may soon beat the next step in our country’s future. I believe that it might be closer than we think.

The Rock
The water levels are rising because of climate change, we are all going to die in months! Plymouth Rock is not underwater yet. It’s been 403 years, it shouldn’t be too much longer because we’re all going to drown.

These aren’t masses of families desperately seeking refuge. These are primarily young men of fighting age expecting to take advantage of a broken system. It’s time to start treating them as what they are. An invading force.
Yes, Today’s Blog is a little Random
Bullet Points:
** In 1931, Albert Einstein and Charlie Chaplin met at the premiere of the film City Lights in Hollywood. Einstein told him, “What I most admire about your art, is your universality. You don’t say a word, yet the world understands you!” Chaplin replied, “True. But your glory is even greater! The whole world admires you, even though they don’t understand a word of what you say.”
** Q – How many AR-15s did Jesus own? A – Not enough to keep him from being murdered by the government.
Ah, Larry, what a succinct column you have gifted us. It’s 0-dark-30 as I read this as I wildly applaud your prose and I wonder if we will ever have the guts to reclaim our treasured inheritance or if we’re all Bozos on this bus (hat tip: Firesign Theater).
Amen! LL, a more poignant soliloquy I have never heard. Paul Harvey said more then once;
“The west was wild, until the good guys started shooting back!”
Amen Brother!…Exceptionally and beautifully expressed. This is a must read far and wide across our faltering Nation…to disallow our “shining city on a hill” to have its torch extinguished by the small minority.

“Forever shall I strive to maintain the tremendous reputation of those who have gone before me”
I love reading, especially history. And your statement about Ivy League graduates routinely fail history tests that 5th graders could pass a generation ago is so sad and true. Ben Franklin was asked by Elizabeth Powell if we had a republic or a monarchy? To which Franklin replied “a republic if you can keep it.” -(Please correct me if I’m wrong) It feels like everyday gets worse and 2 plus years feels like 20 plus with the Pedo/Hobama regime. I find myself looking and re-reading scripture from Revelation, Paul and a couple other chapters in the Bible these days.
“BEWARE THE IDES OF MARCH”
Thirty years ago this week, a brand new Weather Forecaster flew to Hunter Army Airfield for his very first deployment supporting a C130 wing ORI.
Five days before the completion of the ORI I was standing in front of the Full Bird telling him he would have to shut down two days before the end of the Exercise. The Storm of the Century was coming.
I don’t even blame him for not taking the really green wx guesser seriously…
He did end up calling Endex in time to get the people out of the tent city (They later found the tents in the trees) before it rolled right over the top of us…
No one was killed, but there was a LOT of damage to equipment including a C130 that broke free of it’s moorings.
The anemometer at the wx station reported 75Kts just before the main squall line hit and broke it.
I got the rep of having really odd wx happen whenever and wherever I deployed…The curse of living in interesting times.
You saved lives.
Eisenhower depended on his shamans, er, meteorologists.
Good summary. Your last bullet point is the key to entry into and putting the current situation behind us. Pertains to both the practical and the metaphysical.

This morning after I started my computer and looked at the email I went to the comics. When I went to dilbert.com I was redirected, the comic “Dilbert” is gone. Another voice silenced…
I have to admit that is method of silencing the opposition is so much nicer than the way the totalitarians used to do it, I suspect that is only because they are not in complete control yet.
I wonder how long it will be before they come in the night and just take the people who think wrong away, never to be heard from again?
When I read this, I had to go to my Dilbert.com bookmark and got sick to my stomach.
Yeah, I understand Scott isn’t in it for public love, it’s his job now, but the only way to ever get Dilbert, at least for now, is to subscribe to his website. I didn’t look up cost.
I wonder how long it will be before they come in the night and just take the people who think wrong away, never to be heard from again?
How do we know it’s not happening? All that we think we know could mean they’re just not taking the famous ones who might be missed. The famous ones are made an example of, to discourage the others.
You don’t know. However, at the moment they seem to be canceling the louder voices that they are able to cancel. Musk, for example, is difficult to muzzle. Adams was easier to take out because he was part of the media itself.
You mean like the Jan6thers? Or the families at Waco? Or the 3 old guys at Waffle House who talked amongst themselves and one FBI mole about Comrade Obamski? The people fired and run out of their homes because they believe in religion and/or biology? The men cancelled by their angry ex-wives over fake charges?
There has been a continued disappearance of right-wing dissenting voices of one form or another. Some are due to cancelling, some are due to being murdered by governmental stooges (like Ashley Babbitt or those shot during red-flag confiscations) or by being arrested and locked away (like the Jan6thers) since the Clinton administrations.
And of course now, our government, via the _Resident mumbler who says the quiet part out loud with fervor, states We The People are America’s enemy.
Projection to give excuse for their tyranny.
Death to tyrants.
the war turtle has taken himself out. allegedly fell and hit his noggin, concussion. funny though, he’s going to in-patient rehab for a concussion. never heard of that before….nice post today. i’ve been telling the wife beware the ides for a couple weeks now.
The period we’re in now will likely be known in future history as the Crazy Years. Hopefully things won’t be even crazier.
The arc of that trajectory is not good….
LL, well said. Hate to say it but I think our country is on the the downward slide to irrelevance. Our job is to slow the slide enough so the next generation and the generation after that might be able to turn things around.
I once thought Mark Cuban was a smart business man. Then I thought he was one of those who thought that to “own nothing and be happy” . Now I realize he can’t even manage to get a bail out as big as Zelensky. What a smuck. On a much brighter note, in the old days everyone got marched to the train. Now, thanks to Biden, the train comes to you, chemicals and all. Way go Buttegeig. I don’t care what anyone else says, that’s efficiency !
Boxcars are not necessary anymore.
“Yes bless the man that first invented sleep,
But blast the man with curses loud and deep.
Who first invented and went around advising,
That artificial cut off…early rising.”
I think it was that most prolific of poets…anon. but my memory is like the ol’ grey mare…ain’t what it used to be.
As the man said…getting eaten by the early bird was the worms punishment.
Incidentally, notice how East Palestine has gone way of the Dodo. Guess that doesn’t merit any reporting…that was so “last week”. Despicable.
The banks are failing – and being rescued by – you the taxpayer.
Train derailments? The TransSec said, it’s nothing, there are thousands of them a year, move on. He needs to take more family leave with his fellow soddomite.
A sharp operator will sue the EPA when those 30,000 truckloads of contaminated soil aren’t moved with the right minority supplier involvement.
Heh – DEI MUST be top priority for Superfund site cleanup crews…like pilots who don;t know how to fly planes but check the right Idiotic boxes.
I’m actually compiling a list of the events recently that drove the previous atrocity out of the news.
Naomi Wolff and the Pfizer documents.
Wait! Project Veritas got that Gay Exec on video!
Wait! Project Veritas kicked out O’Keefe!
Wait! Balloons!
Wait! Train wreck!
etc…
The war turtle – have any stairs been seen lurking in his vicinity?
US – are we seeing anacyclosis taking place in real time?
Beautifully written, and brutally honest, LL.
Kudos!
“Our culture is certifiably insane”
Yes, and we know its infernal inspiration.
What an excellent post.
Concur with sentiments re: US.
Unfortunately do not see a way out.
