Bullet Points:

** Former adult film stars Riley Reid and Lana Rhoades are taking a bold step to reclaim their lives and protect their families. Both women have publicly requested that all of their past adult content be permanently removed from the internet. They don’t want their kids to know that they were whores. Given the state of information, how likely is that? Should they tell their kids that the bees were never in the buttermilk, or should they come clean?

** Republican lawmakers advanced a bill Wednesday that would make it a Class 4 felony to expose minors to drag performances, the latest move in a long-running battle over the shows at the Arizona Capitol.

** (Breitbart) The Portuguese seized a narco drug sub off the Azores – lots of dope – four in custody. The route to the US has become more difficult, so now they’re shipping to Europe. Yes, I know they’ve always been shipping to Europe, but the Eurozone is now being notified by the US when they’re incoming. Read more at the link.

** Sometimes you need to go hard when excising a cancer – get aggressive – and remove the malignancy. (more here – h/t Claudio). And if you don’t, the cancer eats you alive.

Hezbollah is arguably the Islamic Republic of Iran’s primary and central extension, as described in the 1985 Open Letter, the group’s founding and constitutional document. As a result of this inextricable linkage, based on the belief that Iran’s Supreme Leader is the divinely guided earthly vicar of God, any threat to the Iranian regime’s stability, let alone its existence, is, by its very nature, a threat to Hezbollah as well.

** Next Generation

** Welderup modifications (left). Modifying civilian vehicles for military purposes has become a hallmark of many Middle Eastern countries.

** The time is long overdue to thoroughly investigate the endemic fraud, cronyism, corruption, and waste rampant in California’s government. The state needs to be accountable for both the federal funds it has received and the expenditures of revenues raised from state taxes. So far, that accountability has been either totally inadequate or shockingly non-existent.

** A few (like 8 or 10) of this blog’s readership have asked me over the years for feedback on writing – fiction/non-fiction – and my advice, for what it’s worth, remains the same. Work on very short stories. By that I mean, TR 12 point on a printed page – no longer than two pages, single/double-spaced doesn’t matter. Include a beginning, a middle, and an end (Shakespeare) where a problem is presented and resolved with a twist at the end. Work on them and make them tight. Writing requires a number of skills that I may or may not possess (beauty is in the eye of the beholder), and one of them is discipline. When you write very short stories, you have something manageable, and YOU will know if they suck or not. Most of what I have written begins as a short story – a very short story. If I like it, I work on it and expand it. If you want literary criticism, send me your two-page story, and I’ll be brutally honest. The only way to help you learn is to be honest. I’ve had some people send me things. I was honest, and I never heard from them again.

In your writing exercise, ELIMINATE THE WORD “WAS” from it. When you are more comfortable writing, you can add “was” to your stories sparingly. If you would like me to put your stories on VM and have the readership lay into them, I will do that from time to time. This isn’t a short story bulletin board.

Who is your audience? Write for them. Without naming names – and I don’t think they visit this blog – a person was recently talking about how we (the royal “we”) who write should write for young readers. News flash: Young people don’t read. They overwhelmingly watch TikTok, YouTube, and Facebook videos and get their news from X. If they read a novel, it’s a comic book, now called a ‘graphic novel.’ US Military training pubs are now graphic novels – comic book presentations of information.

There are all sorts of story lengths. My benchmark for a novel is 90,000-100,000 words. The Duelist series that I’m working on (Confederate Cipher, Hudson’s Scouts, The Crow Creek Expedition, and Vengeance and Retribution) is all ONE BIG STORY. It could be a Stephen King-length book, but those are more difficult to read and publish. I have maybe three additional volumes to those mentioned above in mind to get through the saga. I started with 5 or 6 books in mind, and that’s how it’s playing out. By the time you read this, the paperback version of Hudson’s Scouts will be live, with the digital version to follow. I’m busy with my regular life this weekend, including the Super Bowl party, but I’ll likely get the digital version live.

** We need more motivation on this blog.

** Kamala Harris teased a major announcement on Thursday that sparked speculation about another White House run, but it just turned out to be that her campaign website is being rebranded as “Headquarters,” a “Gen Z-led progressive content hub.” Thank goodness; the one thing the Internet was lacking was a place to get uninformed leftist opinions from Gen Z’ers. Some observers suggested it was just a way for Harris to get some publicity and show the world that she was still alive. But when even CNN says that a top-name black, female Democrat is acting cringey, you know it’s gotta be REALLY cringey.

** If this report about the latest turn in the investigation of that St. Paul church invasion is accurate, then Don Lemon’s claim that he merely followed the protesters in to report on them is about to get shredded. One of the new arrestees reportedly admitted that he helped Lemon with logistics and planning of the invasion days in advance. By the way, scroll down in the comments for video of AOC joyfully fawning over Lemon for his part in interrupting a church service and terrorizing crying children. She’s such a prize.

** There’s a German word, schadenfreude, which means taking pleasure from the misfortune of others. It’s an ugly trait, and one we try to avoid here on VM (though not always). But the hundreds of left-wing propagandists masquerading as journalists who just got laid off by the Washington Post are making it very difficult.

Hudson’s Scouts

Hudson’s Scouts is the second book in The Duellist Series. Though the books stand alone, they are intended to be read in order as part of that series. Lieutenant Henry Hudson, US Army (Cavalry), has elected to graduate early from the US Military Academy because of the War Between the States. In large part, because his family’s commercial and shipping interests align with those of the Confederate States, he is sent on a secret mission to England to ascertain the inroads that the Confederacy has made at the Court of St. James relating to their acquisition of steamships and steam rams that can be used to wage war and deliver contraband to the fledgling Confederacy. He marries Victoria McKay, who has her own agenda, and that agenda is laid bare when she discloses that she has an identical twin.

His reputation as a duelist is enhanced during an encounter on the highway outside of Liverpool, the accounts of which are carried in newspapers both in Great Britain and the United States. When he returns to Washington DC, he is transferred to the Office of the Inspector General, where he undertakes investigations on behalf of the War Department. During these investigations, he adds men he calls his scouts to his small task force. Duels present themselves, and the legend expands.

From the Marxist-English Dictionary

Affordable care—Taxpayers spent $1.5 trillion on Obamacare in the past 15 years. At least half of that money went to insurance companies. The average health insurance premium doubled in that time.

Affordable housing—Taxpayers spent $1.2 trillion on housing in the past decade. At least half of that went to landlords. The average rose 66% in that time.

An unauthorized assisted suicide—Murder. Also known as the Canadian health care system.

Arrested a 5-year-old—ICE babysat a child left behind by his father, an illegal alien, who ran away from ICE agents in sub-freezing temperatures.

Assigned at birth—God assigns your sex at conception, not a doctor. The lefty phrase manages to deny the Lord, deny science and deny reality. I admire their execution of a rare triple play.

Basket of deplorables—Three words that killed Hillary’s political career.

Baseless—A legitimate claim by conservatives that does not appeal to liberals.

Body positive—Fat. (see Ample)

Check your privilege—Don’t play that funky music, white boy.

Cisgendered—The people who said born that way to justify homosexual activity now deny that people are born male or female.

Common sense gun control—Gun control that makes no sense at all.

Concentration camp—A phrase used to describe where ICE houses illegal aliens. It is inaccurate and anti-Semitic because it reduces the horrors Jews suffered in the Holocaust to being merely detained. This applies to lefty cries of genocide, Hitler and Nazis. If you apply a word incorrectly often enough, it becomes meaningless.

Cultural appropriation—When white people try to enjoy the multiculturalism that the left pushes. Or when I drive through Taco Bell and order two tacos.

Debunked—When you fall out of your bunk bed. I used to tell my top bunking son that there was a monster under his bed: his older brother. Liberals took over this word and turned it into a word to deny reality. They have many such words because they hate reality.

Diversity—United we stand, divided we fall. Diversity divides us.

Epstein Files—The latest quest to pin a scandal on Trump, only to turn up more dirt on Horndog Clinton.

Fact-check—Something newspaper editors forgot to do on their own stories. It’s the look in their eyes.

Fascist—Marxists use this word to describe the patriots in politics.

First Amendment—Does not apply to religion unless it is Islamic or Satanism.

Food deserts—An excuse for people to explain why food stamps are used to buy soda and candy at Kwik-E-Mart.

Free—Taxpayer paid.

Gender-affirming care—Chopping off body parts and sterilizing confused people in a manner that would make Mengele blush.

Global warming—The attempt to end Western capitalism and civilization through pseudoscience.

Hate speech—Any speech liberals hate.

Healthcare is a right—Marxists use the phrase to substitute actual God-given rights with manmade fakes.

Immigration reform—Something Reagan signed into law when we had 3 million illegals. We have 13 million today.

Inclusive—Everyone except straight white people.

Journalists—People mainstream news organizations hire who have no work ethic, no talent, and no concern for the truth. But they work cheaply.

Karen—Because if you call them Letitia, you get cited for racism.

Lumps of cells—Surprisingly, this does not refer to the brain of your average Democrat politician. Sadly, Marxists mean babies in their mother’s womb.

MAP (minor attracted people)—Perverts who should be fed to woodchippers.

Maryland Man—A citizen of El Salvador that judges have declared is above the law, and is to be returned to sender.

Microaggressions—Getting butt hurt by small things that were never intended to be racist, sexist, homophobic, or anything else. Ignorance no longer is bliss.

Migrants—Invaders protected by states that want to inflate their population to get seats in Congress and federal money.

My body, my choice—Except when it comes to vaccines.

No one is above the law—Except illegals, journalists, and Democrats.

Openly gay—Calling Buttigieg the first openly gay transportation secretary implies that Alan S. Boyd or one of the other 17 DOT secretaries before Butt Boy were gay. I am pretty sure Elizabeth Dole was straight.

Perceived enemies—People who did Trump wrong. Everyone on Nixon’s enemies list was an actual enemy of Nixon.

Pronouns—The modern equivalent of shining four lights and asking a prisoner how many lights he sees, and then shocking him when he doesn’t say five. It’s a torture that doesn’t involve water or bamboo.

Protesters—Rioters, which is the opposite of calling January 6 protesters “insurrectionists.”

Reproductive rights—A euphemism for not having babies. The right to celibacy never enters the picture.

Settled science—Richard Feynman said, “It is imperative in science to doubt; it is absolutely necessary, for progress in science, to have uncertainty as a fundamental part of your inner nature. To make progress in understanding, we must remain modest and allow that we do not know. Nothing is certain or proved beyond all doubt.”

Silence is violence—Words are violence. Violins are violence. Everything is violence except throwing frozen bottles of ice at police officers. That’s a protest.

Stolen land—Every inch of the Earth that is not covered by water.

The Resistance—Communists trying to destroy democracy in the name of preventing its demise.

Top surgery—Cosmetic surgery for T-girls who want big boobs.

Toxic culture—Christianity.

Toxic masculinity—The stuff that found a new world, cleared the land, fought a war to end slavery, and landed a man on the moon. Also used to discover electricity, land on the moon, invent trains, planes, and automobiles, invent light bulbs and movies, and invent the UFC. All of this was made possible by the phrase “hold my beer.”

Transgender—An individual who is confused about their sex. T-girls have many rights, but their right to remain silent is seldom used.

Unhoused—A word that replaced homeless, which replaced the word vagrant, which replaced the word bum.

Wrong side of history—A statement from people who tear down statues and replace white people in historic films with black actors.

  1. Riley & Lana – at some point classmates of their kids will come up to them and say “We saw your mama’s *censored/deleted* and she was doing *censored/deleted* with them with dozens of guys/gals/whatevers.

    1. Follow-up note: a recurring theme in history consists of people ignoring God’s advice/warnings while still expecting to get good results. Qualifies as a daily sermon from here to eternity, or something like that. Meanwhile, I’m still trying to find the missing end quotation mark…it’s around here somewhere.

      1. Yeah, little Bobby tells his buddy, “Do you think your mom could show us how limber she is – can she still do the double pretzel?”

    2. being polite, you might say “youthful indiscretions”, but you always knew who the “Town Pumps” were

  2. 1 – PZL M28 Skytruck
    2 – Yak-28U
3 – MSI’s Electronic Advanced Ground Launcher System EAGLS
4 – French Leclerc XLR with a anti-drone armor screen

  3. Shadenfruede; The one word sermonette. Speaks softly to my rant on here yesterday. “You’re testing my Christianity” a local friend here often uses in public when facing decepticons.

Writing advice; Leading by example. Great points to improvement and trying harder! The O’Biden V.P. or a ghost authored a children’s book in 2019; ” Super heroes are everywhere.” What’s worse, a ho with a pen or Class 4 porno’s corrupting children’s minds?

Readers; The next generation(s) may come to treasure the Hudson series and others. As D, Grant has commented on how things can change for the good, I’m recalling how we grew up with second hand smoke in restaurants ect. Laws are being enacted to ban social media for youth in some countries. MKGA = make kids great again. Manage screen time and parental controls.

Yesterday during the Ed B. broadcast Mrs W. commanded silence for the Sky net / news portion and the Alaska Purchase historical article. More first time listeners and readers are out there! Occasionally I read books to her, or portions thereof. Such as Half Life, a Sci-Fi short story for all ages, imo. Today, she’ll want to hear the writing tips.

  4. Identify the Aircraft:
    1. PZL M28B 1R Bryza
    2. Yak-28U Maestro
    Identify the Vehicle:
    3. Looks like a variant of the Electronic Advanced Ground Launcher Systems (EAGLS) on a Humvee.
    4. Leclerc XLR with cope cage

  5. Marxist Dictionary: When you lay them all out like that [most maybe, because they keep conjuring up more obscurity every week], it really reinforces how far off the reservation American elitists have gotten and how far they are willing to go to run our lives (into the ground)…it reminded me of this – as seen elsewhere – that truly encapsulates We The People’s dilemma:
    .
“ We’ve gone astray from first principles. We’ve lost sight of the rule that individual freedom and ingenuity are at the very core of everything that we’ve accomplished. Government’s first duty is to protect the people, not run their lives.”

As for the the “gals” – can’t erase your past, especially when it’s plastered all over the internet. Sorry “lady’s” – in the modern PopPsyche parlance: ‘make better choices’.

  6. I’ve been tapping down some stories for a while now, mostly stuff that happened to me or witnessed happening to others, but a little fiction now and again, sometimes based on the other stuff but occasionally inspiration of my own imagination. The non-fiction stories are generally straightforward recitations of what happened leavened with whatever color commentary that I feel appropriate and not subject to a lot of review once pencil-whipped into shape, but the fiction, being for my own amusement, will get chopped up and spliced and sweated over. I know what I like and I’ll massage those pipe dreams until they’re where I’m happy with them or abandon them altogether. I have a delete key and I use it.
    .
But here’s the thing. None of this is something I do every day or want to. It’s a hobby, not an obsession like, say, eating or perhaps rifle marksmanship, and that don’t get it done, Dude. I’ve known a couple genuine writers who sold some stuff and got published and damn that’s a lot of work. They sweat. Real writers write, obsessively and continuously. Chop off their hands and they’d tap on the keyboard with their nose to get the words out but come hell or high water they’re gonna write. And in getting published, they expend huge amounts of time arguing and compromising with their agents and editors.
    .
I admire that commitment, but I’m too lazy for that kinda self-flagellation. At various times during what passed for my career people accused me of being a pretty good technical writer, reports, manuals, specifications and such-like industrial stuff and truthfully, I enjoy that kinda thing but I’m not gonna try to turn my personal hobby into my job. I don’t have the fire for it to become a “real” writer. End of story (literally).

    1. I think it was Ray Bradbury who said that we put insane people inside rooms where they spend a lot of time looking at the walls, and that writers do something similar.

      1. Bradbury wrote Green Shadows White Whale about his experiences writing the screenplay for Moby Dick for John Huston in Ireland and it is great stuff.

    2. I’ve had some wild experiences in my earlier life and thought to write them down (write what you know), but I’m afraid it would look Hunter S. Thompsonish.
And I’m not too proud of a lot of it :)

      1. Ed, you don’t have to write down everything. A cautionary tale that I like to keep in mind, was that time Don Imus was interviewing B.B. King about his new book and brought up certain practices that Mr. King enjoyed in his younger days that involved getting a large group of people together, nekkid and in a pile, and Mr. Imus, himself no stranger to questionable behavior, said, “I don’t believe I’d have told that if it was me, B.B.”

        1. There are things we all have done to whatever degree, that are better not memorialized. If you blacklight a teenage boys (or worse still your daughters) automobile, does it look like a Jackson Pollock painting inside?

      2. >not too proud of a lot of it

        Confessional incoming:
“It’s a bit embarrassing to admit this, but in the past, I’ve paid for sex. [hangs head] I’m not proud of that. [perks up]
What I AM proud of is that I’ve also BEEN paid to provide sex.”

That’s a classic joke set up: lead the audience down one path, so that they expect a certain outcome, particularly a moral judgment. Then change the perspective 180 degrees when you hit them with the punchline. A Ricky Gervais short popped up on my YouTube that was classic for this. It went something like, “Racists are the lowest of the low. Well, no, child molesters are worse. I won’t stand for that sort of thing. So if I met a racist child molester I’d set him straight: Oy! You have to rape the little brown ones too!”

Blacklight Jackson Pollock: It’s kinda like the old bathroom graffito: Anyone can pee on the floor, but it takes a hero to poop on the ceiling. “How in the world did they get it on the dome light?” (Few months ago I had a UV flashlight on me [one should always be prepared to sweep one’s room for scorpions] when I was staying in some midrange chain hotel in Manhattan. Suspicious bright spots at various places on the floor. Okay, fair enough. Yech, but fair enough. Then there was one on the wall right next to the electrical outlet. Hmmm. Kinky.)

        1. You’re remarkably spry for your age Mike_C. I’m not asking your journey through a mid-town flop house supplementing your income. We all do our best to make ends meet.

  7. Use(s) of Laudanum
in my wanderings through old medical texts. I found they described the gut-slowing, constipative effects as one of the major side effects of this medication (in addition to severe respiratory despression) with next to zero discussion about how to alleviate these problems.
I can just see a soldier with a leg wound, immobilized in a bed/chair, with severe pain due to a lack of bowel movement, though it would have its uses in reducing battlefield diarrhea.

    1. > gut-slowing, constipative effects [of opioids]
Just brought a friend home from hospital after an abdominal surgery. They prescribed him morphine for pain. (And we had to wait on his discharge because the pharmacy forgot to add Narcan [1] inhalers; apparently these days you have to provide Narcan {naloxone HCl) in case someone overdoses.) Anyway, the post-op care instructions have stuff like “don’t lift anything heavier than 10 lbs, and don’t strain on the toilet”. We’re gonna give you constipating drugs, but don’t strain.

[1] I had to take a CPR recert class for documentation purposes. The instructors, who were EMTs, also talked about general first aid, and someone asked about Narcan. “Oh yes, I’ve revived many people with Narcan. Now they have these nasal spray things, so you can just give it to someone passed out on the street.”
Me: Be prepared to get punched or stabbed because “You took away my high!”
EMT: Uh, yeah. That happens too.

  8. I continue to harp on the quality of teachers, particularly since my youngest is a 2nd grade teacher. Kids are not being taught to read. (She leans moderately right, but tells me she must follow the school’s guidelines – or else)
I think the majority of 7-9 yos are unable to envision (see in their minds) an entire sentence, even when they can mouth the words. And those that have no problem get bored quickly, find other things to do (IOW: are labelled disruptive/ADHD) and are placed on zombie meds.
If the Services need to have “graphic novels” or video demonstrations to teach a 17-21 yo how to tap a hole for for a #8-32 machine screw, we’re in a world of hurt.
Rant over – for the moment.

    1. We know why schools want to dumb kids down from the basics with their ‘toe the line or else’ gestapo “guidelines”, that have gone full Lefty in forty years, ruining the good teachers in the process.

  9. Writing comment … after you think the two pages are done being edited, print it. Set it aside for two days. Then read it and scribble notes all over it. I have always been amazed at what I find. A recent one for me was that the software spell check changed hangar into hanger. I found it would change it sometimes without even running spell check. So be aware of your software’s settings and limitations.

For those that might like to write, but a starting place? Try looking at your family tree for major events in the lives of those people. You might find wars, tornados, wildfire, murder, ship sinking, who knows what. Then just put in fiction names and places.

To all the writers on this blog. If you actually publish. Say something. I fully enjoy reading new material.

If you buy chocolate Easter goods at the discount store the chocolate tastes remarkably like the Army do not melt bar. Just saying.

  10. I used to tell my managers, “Don’t put shit down in writing that’s not factual unless you want it to come back and bite you in the ass”.

  11. Riley / Lana – Just tell the kids when they get old enough. In today’s world
of universal porn ubiquity, it probably won’t even bother them.
Also, that stuff is no longer yours to ask for the removal of it. You sold it to
the porn production company, you no longer have rights to the property.
I suppose you could try and buy it back, but then you’d have to try and buy
it back from all the customers, too. The horse left the barn a long time ago,
    just forget it.

Hezballah – Yes, please. Attack the US or it’s allies, so that we can then kill all
of you too, just like the Mullahs and their (other) toadies.
    *
Dump truck / MRL – Dang, that is some IRL 2nd Amendment action, right there.
Now I want one. Hat’s off to the primitive 3rd World screwheads in this instance.
    *
Schadenfreude – One of my favorite things. I am kind of a jerk sometimes, though.
    – Kle.

    1. One city I worked at had a deaf boy raised by a stripper mom. He was able to handle that, but when mom got daughter started in the business the boy lost it and killed both of them.
      You never know.

  12. “Advance In Order”: Pretty sure we’re in ‘semi-organized chaos’…order went out the window moons ago, if one could define what is happening in society as such. I swear it’s mostly this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wRPOtckNgg4

Case in point: Nancy Guthrie “kidnapping” has become this massive news cycle distraction leviathan after breathless weeks by the ‘We Hate (N)ICE’ distraction of the criminal fraud by Democrats when the heat got too much and California was next on the Fraud Iceberg list to get a financial colonoscopy by PDJT et al. Now all we hear at top of the hour news is ‘Savannah Guthrie’s mom’, as if that woman’s identity mattered if this is a crime. Yet the media feed out drips and drabs to the unsuspecting who lap it up like manna from media heaven. Looks like an inside job best anyone can tell by looking at the presser circus. Likely she was murdered, maybe by the sister and her husband, ala Chris Watts, Susan Smith, Scott Peterson, etc…who garnered sympathy while forcing fake tears only to be found put to be the evil-doers. Plus the timely timing is incredibly suspicious.

    1. I had to Wikipedia Savannah Guthrie; I wonder how many others had to as well. Should I be embarrassed?

      1. No, no one with a life knows her. This is blatant pandering of ‘one of their own’. It’s disgusting, but so is most of the MSM. Lemon (Lemon in normal speak, Lay-Mon in the French version) os another self-promoting giblet, now he’s looking at prison (assuming some lawfare Dem judge doesn’t intercede on his behalf).

      2. Matt Lauer conveniently erased from cultural memory. Savanah didn’t know nuffin, except how to ensure a promotion

      1. Ok, that was great Ed, you really have your “your finger on the pulse of America” (h/t Rush)…’BREAKING NEWS! Savannah Guthrie’s mom kidnapping update!’ Oy vey.

  13. Reid and Rhoades should know the Internet is forever. They may ‘want’ to escape their pasts, but that ‘ain’t’ happenin… as they say down South. Suck it up ladies, you shoulda thought about that before. Re the list, so stealing that…LOL

    1. My young sons were at a friend’s house when the friend shared some Polaroid pictures he “found”. You never know what breadcrumbs are lying around, especially in this digital age. Unlabeled VHS tapes?

  14. It’d be cheaper for them to get Plastic Surgery if they think they are that easily identifiable out of a crowd of a million female pornstars whose faces were normally not the main focus of the camera, I imagine.
    .
Did they use their real names??????

      1. Riley Reid is still active in the adult entertainment industry but has shifted focus to building her personal brand as an entrepreneur, wife, and mother, running businesses like her social media management firm Ash Agency and clothing line, while also openly discussing the emotional toll of her past career and focusing on her family life with husband Pasha Petkuns and daughter. She now produces content for her own site and has pivoted to business ventures, managing other stars and exploring new career paths, but has expressed regret over past decisions and the impact of her former work.

  15. Riley Reed and Lana Rhodes: Good luck to them. I say that unironically and nonsarcastically. But if one has a problem with pornography (which would be a totally legit position), maybe one should look to those who finance and produce it. Who that tends to be is left as an exercise for the reader.

    >schadenfreude, which means taking pleasure from the misfortune of others. It’s an ugly trait, and one we try to avoid here on VM
I tend to use the cognate term “skadeglädje” for … oh, no reason. Heh.

  16. See, this is where conservatives are actually more kind than liberals. Regarding the two porn stars? So what? Have they cleaned up their act? Are they raising their kids right? Are they good people? Even if they’re still making porn, conservatives can and will forgive them.

Liberals? Not so much. Those bitches hold a grudge forever and will make the twos’ lives living hell for it.

    1. LL just poking the dog, as it were, for those such as yourself who even picked up on the ‘hyphenated’ aspect. (not really ‘grammar police-ish’, but GP adjacent)

    2. I interviewed this Jewish guy about antisemitism (which spellcheck rejects) and he said he didn’t like the term.
He said it was coined to make Jew-hatred (hyphenated) sound cleaner.

      1. I think it was coined because the person who came up with it was too much of a chickenshit (unhyphenated) to say what he meant. (So I guess I’m agreeing with your interviewee.)

I don’t like the term either, because it’s misleading. I think the ADL finally acknowledged the reality of that. Also, it’s to put people on the back foot, like a made-up Negro name being pronounced differently from how it’s spelled. You then correct people on guessing wrong. (Jeh “pronounced Jay” Johnson, for example.) It’s a cheap method of scoring points and making people defensive and ashamed. Most decent people, when they feel they’ve committed offense, then end up giving in to more than they normally would, by way of apology. So it’s a smart tactic. (Until people are finally totally fed up with your crap.)

MY name is pronounced Mih-KAY. How DARE you mis-name me? That was a deliberate insult!
In the same vein, “You say you’re against antisemitism, but you don’t even bother to learn how to SPELL the term? Shame on you. You need to do better!”
