The Cinema

I was surprised to learn they still hold the Golden Globes and Oscars. I thought that circle jerk went the way of comedy on late-night.

Upon researching it, it turns out the likely winner of Best Picture, One Battle After Another, is a movie that lost 100 million dollars, but… well… no one should care about that, it’s just SO GOOD, even if the public is too dumb to appreciate it. The same studio made money on Minecraft and equally vapid productions, so they can afford a vanity project to virtue signal.

Just to boot, they are talking about a sequel, so they can lose more money while continuing to stroke each other. You really can’t make this shit up.

Bullet Points:

** Carjacking solution – JoBerg style. South African innovation.

** Shooting her would be too kind. Though there should be a padded room where she can live naked, throwing her own excrement at the observation window.

** Something funny happened in Caracas. It was apparently the Presidential Guard spotting unidentified flying objects overhead and unleashing hell upon them, probably thinking it was, indeed, the United States. But it was actually—wait for it—their own drones. These dudes were, by all accounts, shooting up their own equipment and wreaking havoc on the streets. You can’t make this stuff up.

** So much for your job security, Mike_C. You have three years per Elon.

** (zerohedge) The superflu is on the move. Germaphobes beware. Public health experts are calling it a “perfect storm” strain due to its severity, rapid spread, and the fact that this year’s flu vaccine does not directly match the variant. Symptoms are familiar—fever, chills, fatigue, cough, sore throat—but reports suggest they are more intense and longer-lasting than what many people are used to. I don’t know how many of you recall the Hong Kong Flu from days past, but this strain is said to be like that. Soon, we will all be Hong Flu Fighting.

** The USA has a long history of failing to respect Denmark’s rightful claim to Greenland. For example, when Denmark surrendered to the Nazis in just 6 hours, the USA refused to honor Nazi Denmark’s legitimate claim to it, instead illegally defending Greenland for the rest of the war.

** Of Note – Writer and researcher Erich von Däniken (Chariots of the Gods, etc.) died on January 10, 2026. He was controversial, but he was not boring.

** (Fox) President Donald Trump on Wednesday signed a presidential memorandum directing the U.S. to withdraw from 66 international organizations, ordering executive departments and agencies to cease participation in and funding of entities the administration says no longer serve U.S. interests.

** “The United Arab Emirates has restricted funding for citizens to study at British universities over tensions with the UK for its decision not to ban the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization.” The British caliphate is too radical for UAE.

** U-Haul Growth Index: Texas Back on Top as No. 1 Growth State of 2025. Florida ranks 2nd for net gain of one-way customers; California ranks last for the sixth year in a row.

** The United States has repositioned two amphibious assault ships — the USS Iwo Jima and USS San Antonio — to waters just miles north of Cuba. Military experts assess that this deployment signals possible U.S action in Cuba. I don’t think that military action will be necessary. Unless Russia or China wants to shackle itself to a corpse, it will die on its own.

** They say Jurassic Park inspired a new generation of paleontologists, but it inspired me to study mosquitoes,” says entomologist Lawrence Reeves. Reeves, fellow entomologist Hannah Atsma, and their colleagues caught more than 50,000 individual mosquitoes, representing 21 different species, across a 10,900-hectare protected reserve in central Florida over eight months. Based on blood from a few thousand females, the researchers found that mosquitoes’ blood meals can reveal the presence of “the smallest frogs to the largest cows.”

** (Mail) President Donald Trump appears to have his sights on Cuba after threatening the country to make a deal with the US ‘before it is too late’.  The Republican leader took to Truth Social Sunday morning, warning the communist regime, run by President Miguel Díaz-Canel, will no longer receive oil or money from Venezuela following the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro. Cuba has long depended on Venezuela’s hefty oil supply, but after Maduro was nabbed last week by the US, Trump got interim Venezuelan President Delcy Rodriguez to send the country’s oil to America.

American Victims 2026

(Glenn Reib) There’s a particular species roaming social media and protesting on the streets right now, and you know them the moment they open their mouths, usually wrapped in neon outrage, costume-level colors, blue or purple hair, a nose ring for punctuation, women wearing their Carhartt gear, trying to look like men, obnoxious, know-it-all, potato-shaped white liberal women. They don’t argue, they lecture. They don’t persuade, they shame. They don’t think, they recite. They yell. They scream. They shove forward like water buffalo at a buffet. These people wake up every morning angry at gravity, biology, history, men, work, success, humor, and anyone who didn’t major in Feelings with a minor in Permanent Victimhood. They all share the same look, not physically, but spiritually. That dead-eyed certainty. Those crazy eyes. That smug little smirk that says, “I am morally superior and deeply miserable.”

They’ve turned resentment into a personality and grievance into a career path. Every problem in their life is someone else’s fault: Didn’t succeed? The system. Bad relationships? Men. Bad choices? Society. No purpose? Capitalism. Daddy issues? Definitely. Accountability never enters the chat. They screech about “kindness” while being the most hostile, joyless, humorless people you’ll ever encounter. They demand tolerance while practicing ideological extermination. They preach empathy while celebrating anyone who disagrees with them getting fired, silenced, or ruined.

And God forbid you ask a question. That’s when the mask slips.

Suddenly, it’s name-calling, dogpiling, doxxing, reporting, tantrums, and frothing at the mouth, because deep down they know something terrifying. If they stop screaming, they’d have to think.

And if they think, the whole house of cards collapses. So they cling to slogans. They cling to outrage. They cling to each other because without the mob, there’s nothing underneath. This isn’t activism. It’s emotional dependency dressed up as righteousness.

And the country is exhausted by it, tired of your bullshit and fakery.

You don’t scare people anymore. You don’t impress anyone. You don’t silence truth, you advertise how fragile your worldview really is. You don’t want to build or reach across to the other side. So welcome to accountability.

America isn’t broken because of free thinkers, dissenters, or people who still believe in responsibility. It’s strained because a loud, bitter minority confused being offended with being important. And that era? I hope it’s ending.

African Meat

Footage circulating online appears to show a Russian soldier mocking African mercenaries who are about to be thrown into the line of fire. This is an example of how integrated the practice of using foreign soldiers for so-called “meat assaults” is in the Russian army. It has gone as far as them being seemingly treated as “disposable”.

      1. Thanks!
        Sometimes things come together.

ML Thomas was much more specific, though.
        – Kle.

  1. 1 – Lockheed T2V SeaStar
    2 – Ilyushin Il-102
    3 – Northrop Grumman E-8C JOINT STARS – modified Boeing 707-300

  2. Khamenei calls Trump up: “I had a dream last night that Washington, DC, is all rubble, and Iranian flags are flying everywhere.”
    .
Trump replies: “Strange, I had a dream last night that Tehran is thriving, has a lot of high-tech, and lots of billboards.”
    .
Khamenei asks: “What do the signs say?”
    .
    Trump replies: “I don’t know, I don’t read Hebrew.”

    1. Nice one LL.

The Iranian people have no water, no food, no Internet, no merchants open. Picking up a gun seems like the only viable option.
POTUS has some tough options to go through concerning Iran. None of which are perfect, but war is messy.

        1. I think there is unfinished business with the beard’s nuclear weapons program. So x2

  3. Identify the Aircraft:
    1. Lockheed T2V SeaStar
    2. Ilyushin Il-102
    3. Northrop Grumman E-8 Joint STARS

    1. Very good – the Joint STARS was decommissioned, and the work they did from the 707s is being done with satellites.

      1. curiously, couple nights ago i tracked a bird on flightracker that came back to an e8c. that was the picture they presented too. maybe they handed them off to another agency?

        1. The USAF or Space Command were said to have mothballed them. I don’t know if they were shipped to Davis Monthan AFB or if they were semi-decom’d somewhere else. As you suggest, another agency could have adopted this aircraft for a special purpose. As I understand it, the X-37B picked up some of that heavy lifting as did satellites. I have no info. on it other than chatter and speculation. The same sort of capability that is in place over Venezuela is clearly overhead in Ukraine. The X-37B would be a better choice than a STARS over Russian territory, providing that they (X-37B) have that capability. I doubt that Venezuela today has the capacity to interdict a STARS.

  4. Victimhood 2026 (more accurately includes 2016-2025): What has gotten into people? Gotta be in the food and municipal water supply, this insanity doesn’t ‘just happen’. Send your Christian daughter off to college and she comes home at Christmas with weird hair, tats, and adorned with metal bits…and a lesbo girlfriend. That’s pretty fast acting bad juju…doesn’t ‘just happen’.
I have a solution: Get a job, quit being mentally lazy, lose the ‘COEXIST’ stickers on the Subaru (while demanding others give up their personal ideas), then go out and be a productive member of society and quit bothering everyone else.
Societal ProTip: Take care of your own life, think for yourself, the world owes you nothing…and quit your whining.
    .
Maybe it’s just me, but seems like the latest psyop ‘means to an end pandemic’ is mental retardation generated amongst a certain demographic (other groups we already knew about, but those were/are Democrat government Welfare subsidized).
    ***
Miny-Apple-Less Daycares: Gotta gove ‘em [some] props for creatively gaming (thieving) the system…
    – John Solomon is reporting that in 2024 and 2025 the (incomparable) TSA has ‘flagged’ approximately $692 million in declared U.S. currency detected in passengers’ luggage departing from Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport —roughly $1 million per day over the two years. The report states that most of these cash transports were carried by Somali-American couriers on flights to Somalia or other Middle Eastern destinations. The cash was legally declared so no immediate seizures or arrests occurred at the airport.
    .
TSA: “As long as you declare the stolen large amount of cash we can’t seize it, so enjoy your trip…but if JoeBlow Citizen has a micro pocket knife he forgot about in his jeans coin pocket (the one with scissors and toothpick), he must be treated like a criminal.” (Better swab him for GSR while yer at it!…right after grandma in a wheelchair.)

          1. It’s the Addams Family – creepy, kooky, hookey, with Thing, It, Lurch, and Uncle Fester. It kind of plays to my twisted sense of humor.

      1. Depends. Does he call the box of bullets a ‘clip’ or a ‘magazine’? Say the wrong thing and ninja-gun-cops will come out of the woodwork to correct him.

  5. >So much for your job security, Mike_C. You have three years per Elon.
Sure, maybe Elon’s team can get the technical skills down in three years. But it’ll take them at least a decade to match the arrogance; the God-complex; and the petulant, spoilt-child tantrums down pat.

    Further comments in autistic detail:
    1. I’m not a surgeon anyway. Internal Medicine (think Army) vs Surgery (think Marines). We Medicine people are occasionally slightly annoyed, but mostly amused to be called surgeons. Surgeons on the other hand, are highly offended to be mistaken for Medicine guys. All spilt milk under the bridge anyway since I haven’t done clinical medicine for over a decade. (Clinicians, much less surgeons, could not spend the time in the middle of the day using up LL’s electrons. On the other hand, I did six hours of actual work [as in billables] last night, so it’s all about flexibility.)

    2. Tantrums: So now I’m on weekly calls (big multicenter clinical trial) with an eminent cardiac surgeon. He’s no-nonsense, but a pretty cool guy. I bring this up because I was a 3rd year medical student in his OR a loooong time ago. I’m mortally certain he doesn’t remember me (one of literally thousands to have slowed him down — all med students are hinderances) but I can’t bring myself to call him by his first name. He’s still “Doctor” to me. (Which is a bit weird on the face of it because its first names with everyone else on the call, several of whom are at least as eminent as him. But it’s because I first knew him when I was playing student, and not as a research colleague. Context is key. And apparently it programmed me for life.) Anyway, of the five cardiac surgeons at my med school, two were cool [though if you crossed them it was Bad News] and would teach. One would utterly ignore you because he was always doing live surgeries with a video camera on his headgear — your job as a med student was to shut up and be invisible. One I didn’t know (she was brand new). And the last was prone to all the petulance, tantrums, etc I was joking about earlier. This guy was known for throwing scalpels (used and covered with blood, yet) at nurses and techs who pissed him off. And anything could piss him off. But he was technically good and brought in a lot of federal research money, so he was allowed to get away with it. What was worse was the guy HAD self awareness. At some interdepartmental awards dinner he got up and said, “I know I’m difficult. Believe me, I’ve been forced to take a LOT of anger management classes. Anyway, to my OR staff, I want you to know I appreciate you.” Cripes, if you’re aware you’re an asshole (and a contaminated sharps throwing asshole at that), maybe you could, oh I dunno, try to NOT be a scalpel-throwing asshole?

    3. So years later I heard that the two cool surgeons had sportscars. There was this quiet (back then) 12-mile stretch of limited-access freeway north of Academic Medical Center. These two guys would go out at 0230 and race each other. I had been pretty friendly with the other cool surgeon, so my next visit back I happened to run into him and asked him about the rumor. “Oh yeah, we did that about once a week. For some reason we never got stopped by the cops. And if we did, our plan was to tell them we were on our way to the OR for an urgent surgery.” Yeah, what about when you were headed north AWAY from AMC? “Hmmm. Go away, Mike.”

    1. I may have found a kindred spirit in the bloody scalpel thrower. (You can do it angry – tantrum — or you can do it cold.)

      1. If one is doing it for EFFECT (theater designed to provoke a response, or hell, just to be mean for amusement) that’s one thing. I think that guy genuinely couldn’t control himself. People who can’t control themselves are dangerous to not just themselves, but everyone around them.

Truth be told, he was an anomaly; the overwhelming majority of cardiac surgeons and interventional cardiologists (the 2am doorkickers of Internal Medicine) have pretty good manners. As a rule, the most horrid personalities I’ve dealt with professionally were in the public health/epidemiology world, weirdly enough. (At interventional meetings we’re generally kind and supportive to med students and residents who are nervously presenting their research. In the CVD epi world, some limp-wristed, hollow chested loser of a faculty member will inevitably get up and start berating the poor student for “You should have known better than to use the Komogolvich-Bailey’s test when there are clearly floor and ceiling effects. Any idiot would know to use the Exact Frogit-Schweinmesser test!” This to some poor 23-year old girl working on her MS in Public Health. Losers.

        1. I guess it’s bad form to take the hollow-chested, sallow, balding faculty member out back and school them (supply side) in first aid of a broken nose. That actually happens in some of the supply-side disciplines that you practitioners usually don’t discuss. There is something to be said for “walk softly and carry a big stick”.
          .
I mean, you’d never soak another MD’s car with Ninhydrin* or stuff a living goat in the back of the faculty’s car to eat the upholstery. Things like that. Mace** the heating and cooling vents of their car. So when they turn up the air flow – ooo la la.
          .
We have universal car unlocking measures that work great with the new digital systems. For older cars, use a slim jim.
          .
          * Ninhydrin is a versatile organic chemical reagent used to detect primary and secondary amines, famously reacting with amino acids in latent fingerprints to produce a distinct purple color (Ruhemann’s purple) on porous surfaces like paper, making it crucial in forensic science. It’s also used in chromatography to visualize amino acids and proteins, as a colorimetric agent for amino acid quantification, and as an organic building block, though it’s toxic (carcinogen) and a tissue irritant, so it requires careful handling. The purple never comes out.
          .
** It’s a self-defense spray, invented in 1965, that uses the tear gas agent phenacyl chloride (CN) to cause eye irritation, coughing, and disorientation. It was largely replaced by safer pepper spray (OC) due to toxicity. It can be substituted with CS gas if you’d prefer -The compound 2-chlorobenzalmalononitrile, a cyanocarbon, is the defining component of the lachrymatory agent commonly called CS gas, a tear gas used as a riot control agent, and is banned for use in warfare pursuant to the 1925 Geneva Protocol. You can’t use it in warfare, but it’s cool for population control.
          .
Professor Sobbing – “Somebody put a male goat into the back of my Benz, and it ate the upholstery, shit, and pissed all over it.”
          .
Mike_C – “You’ve got to be kidding, Dr. Mohammed. I guess you’re lucky it wasn’t a pig. At least you can become best friends with the male goat. It could have been worse; somebody could have put Ilhan Omar back there.”

          1. Here’s something I never thought I’d say, but: Maybe we need a bigger supply of Ilhan Omars. [rubs hands] “For just such an emergency.”

  6. The Golden Globes and Oscars are looking more and more like the Hugos… sigh… Re the crazy woman, no, please don’t inflict her on the jail! BTDT, and ‘somebody’ has to routinely hose her and the cell down… sigh…

  7. Regarding fully-robotic/non-manned ‘surgeons,’ well, an okay-ly programmed robot is still better than about 50% of the surgeons out there. And you’ll have to have a human surgeon on overwatch and ready to jump in when, not if, mistakes are made. Said surgeons are probably going to be the ones that make mistakes anyways.

Professional medical personnel are far more dangerous than your legal gun-owner.

  8. That Navy plane looks like a T-33 that’s flying in cold weather (shrunked up just a tad…)

Amazing example of parallel evolution given roughly the same parameters.
