Caption: What did you do this time, DRJIM?
Pro tip: Always blame DRJIM…or WSF’s dog Banner.
Bullet Points:
** Shapes and textures – Jules would call it art philosophy. I stick with shapes and textures. (AI pears, right)
** The Times: “Germany must return to conscription and more than double its regular military spending to avert a Russian attack on NATO that could come in as little as four years, its defense minister has said.
In an interview with The Times of London, Boris Pistorius said his country should “bite the bullet” and take a “giant leap forward” to revive its stagnant economy by borrowing money on a large scale to invest in the military.
Pistorius said a return to compulsory military service was essential after his ministry estimated that NATO would require Germany to field almost half a million troops if it came under attack.”
** Wall Street Journal: “U.S. officials say (there) is a new front in America’s war on drugs: an emerging partnership that has made China a crucial pit stop for dirty money flowing from the U.S.’s fentanyl crisis, according to law-enforcement officials and court documents.
Chinese money brokers, part of an underground banking system that has long served the country’s immigrant diaspora, have become go-to partners for fentanyl traffickers and other criminal groups needing to launder illicit drug profits, officials say.
Long operating in the shadows, the Chinese brokers use intermediaries to collect drug profits from fentanyl dealers. (VM Edit: they use USD digital currency, but I don’t want to rain on WSJ‘s parade)
Then, through a series of transactions, they sell those dollars to Chinese customers who want cash in the U.S. for purposes such as buying real estate or other investments but can’t legally send money directly from China because of capital controls there. The drug dealers end up with clean money in the process, law-enforcement officials say.”
** Reports that President Trump will audit Fort Knox Gold by Having Geraldo Rivera open the vaults on live TV have not yet been confirmed. (People of a certain age will get that…)
** During comments at the CPAC conference Thursday, Elon Musk detailed just how extreme the Biden administration was when it came to opening the border and flooding the country with illegal aliens. “It’s important for people to understand the Biden Administration sent any possible money they could send to amplify illegal immigration,” Musk urged. He explained, “They took money from FEMA meant for helping Americans in distress and sent it to luxury hotels for illegal immigrants in NY. That is an outrage. They did that.” “Not only that, even after The President (Trump) signed an EO saying it has to stop, the deep state bureaucrats still pressed send on $80M last week to send money to The Roosevelt Hotel and other places. Now they’re mad, and they’re trying to sue to have it restored. The gumption of these people,” Musk told the crowd.”
Radical Changes in the Pentagon
DE-ORBIT!

(h/t Claudio and others) (article) In a remarkable statement Thursday, SpaceX founder Elon Musk said the International Space Station should be deorbited “as soon as possible.”
This comment from Musk will surely set off a landmine in the global space community, with broad implications. And it appears to be no idle comment from Musk, who sometimes indulges in deliberately provocative posts on the social media network X that he owns.
However, that does not seem to be the case here.
“It is time to begin preparations for deorbiting the @Space_Station. It has served its purpose. There is very little incremental utility. Let’s go to Mars,” Musk wrote at midday on Thursday.
This original statement was somewhat ambiguous. Last July, NASA awarded Space X an $843 million contract to modify a Dragon spacecraft as a propulsive vehicle to safely guide the aging space station into the Pacific Ocean in 2030. So, in some sense, preparations are already underway to shut down the laboratory.
Identify the Aircraft
1
The national livery is the only hint you need.

Identify the Armor
2
Not a well-known tank

3
Not a German tank/tank destroyer. Armed with the 90mm Panzerabwehrkanone 57, which is a low-pressure anti-tank cannon that uses HEAT rounds. Eleven prototypes were built, and they were different variants of the base tank with varying armament configurations. The engine was in the front (like a Merkva) to aid crew survivability.

End
1 is Koolhoven-Desoutter FK-60
Yes it is. It has visual elements that are common to Russian aircraft of the era. The Russians likely stole plans for Fokker’s designs and incorporated them.
Not designed by Fokker.
Designed by Frederick (Frits) Koolhoven whose company was the second largest in Holland after Fokker.
This design was manufactured in England after the German invasion. Supposedly the resemblance to the Russian plane is due to a redesign for a larger Wright Cyclone engine from USA as his engine plant was now in occupied Europe.
The Russians also used a licensed copy the same engine for some of their planes.
Still the Russians stealing ideas or plans is still perfectly possible.
slightly off-topic (as usual)
how did the Ukraine go from an agrarian backwater to a major up-to-date (electronics/computer-driven) fighting force in just a couple of years.
who paid for the equipment and training? who’s paying for the propaganda machine? (against the Russians all the while getting the European’s panties in a twist) Deutschland must! build up its fighting force – what are you supposed to do with so many young men sitting around with nothing to do? I’m sure the politicians will find something.
it bothers me all the more because it’s likely taking our focus away from the main problem
You paid for all that. The IOs all over are to make sure you keep paying, too.
The Russians invested in Ukraine for good and obvious reasons. When the Soviet Union broke up, Ukraine went its own way and the Russians gave them their share of nuclear weapons. At the time of Ukraine’s independence from the Soviet Union in 1991, Ukraine held the third largest nuclear arsenal in the world, including an estimated 1,900 strategic warheads, 176 intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs), and 44 strategic bombers. By 1996, Ukraine had returned all of its nuclear warheads to Russia in exchange for economic aid and security assurances. In December 1994, Ukraine became a non-nuclear weapon state party to the 1968 Nuclear Nonproliferation Treaty (NPT). The last strategic nuclear delivery vehicle in Ukraine was eliminated in 2001 under the 1991 Strategic Arms Reduction Treaty (START). It took years of political maneuvering and diplomatic work, starting with the Lisbon Protocol in 1992, to remove the weapons and nuclear infrastructure from Ukraine.

As it turns out, it was a mistake. The Russians wouldn’t have attacked if they’d retained their nukes.
Sadly true. How many lives would have been saved? Well over two million, and counting…
boron makes common sense…

X2…which makes his questions even more pointed:Those can and should aren’t interested in having their apply cart gravy train upended, maybe a bunch of t(e Congress-Critters will “retire” before the heat catches up to them.
Accidentally bumped post….*”Those who can and should aren’t interested….” – “apple cart”
Starlink satellites, provided by SpaceX after a direct plea from Zelensky, kept communications alive when traditional infrastructure crumbled. U.S. alone has poured over $50 billion in military aid since 2022—Javelin missiles, HIMARS rocket systems, Patriot air defenses, you name it. Another $100 billion in “aid’ to Ukrainian for the NGO laundromats and last but not least $100 billion Zelensky rathole.

Yes, it’s a Conway.
“Chinese money brokers, part of an underground banking system that has long served the country’s immigrant diaspora,”
Good thing we let all those students into our colleges and give them preferential hiring for research positions, etc.
Historically, underground banking (or Hawalla or Chinese Flying Money or Chit Banking) came West with the Crusades. The method was used by the Knights Templar to move value (because in that system the money rarely actually moves) between the Temples in Europe and the Temple in Jerusalem and back. Today one of the most common uses of these systems is with the Hasidic Jews and their international diamond network.
LL speaks of much subtilty…
Juan
I understand the history. I’ve taught this subject along with other subjects to law enforcement and intelligence people.
I like the AI Pears, invokes a certain vintage appeal (a h/t to our hosts artistic charms). However…gotta say…Jules’ Winter’s View takes the cake.

NASA hiring Musk to solve the aging space station “problem”: But, but, how can this be?” I mean, he’s working for Trump as THE unelected 2nd in command stealing WTP’s private information, now you send him money we don’t have!!!! Spit! Spit! (Wait, by the end of the weekend the MSM and Dem Congress-Critters will be screaming bloody murder how this is illegal and unconstitutional (because now all of a sudden that matters whereas under…say…Covid…constitutionality went out the window.)
Musk needs to start selling Tesla brand cardboard chainsaws, have them made in Argentina…really mess with “those with no humor”.

Tanks – I’m starting to think they made 5 of a particular tank then changed some part for the new improved model…who knew there were so many varieties. See…VM is a must for personal education and enlightenment.
Ps. My basement “lab” as a kid sorta looked like your opener picture, albeit a little less than DrJim’s as getting some of the gear was difficult…but I did manage to pop breakers a lot.
VM seeks to illuminate.
As in “illuminati” for enlightenment or have the bulb go off in your readers head? Maybe both, which, means VM could be a cult. If so might get a tax break, assuming the IRS isn’t “defunded” by April 15th, then it won’t matter.
Ps. MrsPaulM just mentioned that she thinks VM’s Host is actually AI generated and she is demanding proof of life. (Don’t shoot the messenger, just relaying the sentiment.)
I’m not an AI, I’m a space alien. There’s a difference but I don’t expect you Earthlings to understand.
MrsPaulM’s followup thought is moot then: “If you are an AI doing AI paintings, is that AI squared?
Then again, Earth Girls Are Easy.

DING, DING, DING!!! We have a WINNER!
Throw enough at the wall eventually something sticks.
Germany needs to start a draft & rearm because of Russia? Are we talking about the same Russia? The one stuck in the Ukraine for the last few years?
In the last century the USA sent troops to fight & die helping contain the Germans, we left over One Hundred Thousand Americans buried in Europe dealing with Germany.
Then we left troops there and said “don’t do that” and for the last 80 years they have acceptable neighbors for the rest of Europe… Germany changing doesn’t really look good..

Happy Birthday George Washington! I remember!
well said Rob
how quickly “we” tend to forget.

I personally don’t care whether Germany rearms or imports a million savage military age, unmarried males from the Middle East to flesh out their barren society that can’t come close to replacing itself. Other than changing aircraft in Munich or Frankfurt, I doubt that I will visit Germany again unless there is a Turk that I need to interview. Based on my experience there are far more Turkish flags flying over German than German flags.
PS – Are there any Lutheran Churches left in Germany or have they ALL been converted to mosques? It’s an honest question.
Germans will fly their regional or city flags over flying their national flag.
From my viewpoint, the International Space Station is one major uh-oh from wiping out a crew. After two decades of use, how ever many micro meteorite holes, and general wear and tear, it’s served it’s purpose. I have a feeling many scientists are wary of visiting.
Your concerns are shared by Elon Musk, which is why he recommended that we de-orbit it sooner than planned. Unfortunately, there are a lot of rice bowls connected to federal gravy up there in orbit, and those rice bowls are broken when the ISS is.
Money talks, [x] walks.
Always about the money with those people, who’s greed completely blocks all ability of “doing the right thing” and common sense.
Many of them are creatures of the bureaucracy, and they don’t think they could find a do-nothing or a no-show job (money for nothing and chicks for free) outside of their government sinecure. Deorbiting the space station will create that situation for many of them.
What you say is a weird concept, foreign actually…for myself having never worked in such an outfit. Always operated in a results oriented capacity, can’t think otherwise, to do so would seem…well, frankly, lazy.
The problem with data on the ISS isn’t a lack of it; it’s the sheer volume and funding hyperfocus leads to the four blind men and the elephant. Give an engineering team the problem of deorbiting the thing as a whole, and they may be the only ones not focusing on how to isolate the air leaks, or how to patch and limp it along for more experiments and cycles of astronauts. Instead, they’re looking at the structural integrity of each module and the whole…
.
Yeah, that doesn’t fill me with warm fuzzies. G-d look after fools, drunkards, the United States of America, and those poor astronauts who signed up to Do Science, not to die for it.
So Musk wants to DOGE it…
DrJim could use the parts for his basement lab.
👍😂
Not sure if they’d fit, though….
Having personally been in DRJIM’s lair, I need to point out your depiction isn’t accurate. The lair is far more cluttered. As to what he can accomplish in his lair, that is beyond my limited understanding.
So long as a treat is offered, Banner will do what is needed.
Germany, and many other European countries, should bring back military conscription of all able body persons residing in their country. That would lead, IMO, to mass outward migration of their immigrants.
Is an all-Muslim army a good idea? In which direction will they attack?
Banner is an inspiration to us all.
Next year in Jerusalem? Not politically correct though. How about Mecca? Or even Constantinople?
Next year in Gaza!
After they invade the place, doing much needed land leveling demo, then it’s onto acquisition, clean up, and construction of Gaz-A-Lago – the latest Trump International big beautiful resort…with an actual working dock. Included in package deals are; private beachside bungalows and adult beverages with culturally appropriate snacks brought chaise side by attendants (jobs baby, all about the jobs for generating self esteem whilst lowering 7th Century tendencies). Plus, there’s a 24/7 all-you-can-eat buffet’s that would put cruise ship or Vegas hotel fare to shame. It’s all-inclusive (in the events/F&B sense, not social weirdness).
Pre-Bookings starting April 16th @ GazaByTheSeaResort.com.
Ps. I see the angle now: Trump offers the American people a $5,000 refund, which – as found money – can be immediately used to pre-book a bungalow reservation at the new Gaz-A-Lago resort…CNN reports checks will be sent to taxpayers February 31st. I’ll be waiting by the mailbox as I am sure rooms will book up pretty quickly.
Or if their mass is sufficient, an abrupt acceleration of their takeover.
LL was writing while I was reading.
Now I gotta go back and see what else he snuck in the comments.
WSF is one the few allowed down into the Laboratory unescorted. He doesn’t even need a Visitor’s Badge…..kinda like the character “Deep Throat” in the The X Files…..
Geraldo simply hasn’t been the same since he got hit with that chair. The unending empty vaults were hilarious.
Hit his head…
Uhhh….I turned it up to eleven? Added too much cowbell? Channeling Nikola Tesla? Not sure if it was legal, but it sure was fun….
.
Yes, shades of “Al Capone’s Vault”? Gerry Rivers never ceased to amaze…
The guy has made a fortune on these things, quite well off. I recall seeing him on late night news back in the day…yup, handle was Gerry Rivers.
Tesla would be proud DrJim…somebody has to carry on the neighborhood darkening experiments, flipping knife switches here and there to bring circuits up in sequence.
I have to do a blog post about the Electrical Board I finished for the grandson.
I look forward to you sorting out the China issue and enjoyed the leading photo of your home lab. Nice.
I give advice to the Chinese, but as Celestials, they’re better than me, and not obliged to listen. The curse of Cassandra
People are just now ‘discovering’ Commie China is a player in the international drug trafficking world?
–
Bitch, please.
–
They’ve been actively part of getting drugs into the US of A since the 1990’s. Between precursor chemicals and outright manufactured drugs, weapons to the distributing gangs and cartels, financing of the drug trade, training in chemistry to smuggling techniques to financing.
–
When I was working for a police unit, we knew the ChiComs were involved. The DEA knew. The FBI knew. The Coast Guard knew.
–
It isn’t new. What is new is that, under the Trump Administration, people feel they can openly say what has been not allowed to be said officially since the Clinton Administration.
–
Why exactly do you think the ChiComs love getting their hands on ports throughout the world? Because being the one in control of said ports allows one to do what one wishes. And the ChiCom administrators have had no problem using cash and force to get their way in these ports, from having port workers to state investigators look the other way, or else. Threats of bodily harm and actual bodily harm, even here in the US of A.
–
Never trust China. China is asshole.
Well, China just announced they have “discovered” a new coronavirus strain. “Discovered”? How about “created”. Figure Monday PDJT will come out with a very direct Chy-Nah statement…and WTP are starting to like direct, the alternative was scummy at best, treasonous at worst.
They’re all variations on the bird flu, which wiped out enough Chinese that they thought it would be great if it could be weaponized. Mayne quarantine China?
They were big in manufacturing ecstasy and ketamine along with meth precursors until fentanyl became a drug of choice. Yes, Beans, I recall the old days. It’s not a new game now, just a variation of the old game. I would board ships in international waters, search for fentanyl precursors, and if you find them, open the sea cocks, sink the ship where it is and take the crew into custody until they could be PNG’d back to the Worker’s Paradise.
You scuttled the ship?
LL meant that he would, if he was investigating ships now, scuttle the ship.
–
The thing is, so much crap is coming in ‘space-available’ in 40′ CONEX containers that there’s no real way to find it and stop it. And that ‘space available’ smuggling is why the ChiComs want to control ports, since by controlling ports they can control what happens on said ports from who unloads what where to who inspects what is unloaded where. And they have,do/will bribe the ever-loving daylights out of any underpaid federal worker that they can in order to have things leave the port without being inspected.
–
This goes for all smuggling, whether it be people, arms, nuclear material, bombs, drugs, precursor chemicals, ripped-off copies of CDs and DVDs, cigarettes and other tobacco products and, well, anything they can get away with smuggling.
–
China has been playing the long game. Bribe the top executives all the way down to the janitors. Control the flow of product, whatever it may be. And underbid every friggin thing to the point of taking an economic hit on a product in order to gain control over all the product. (Like, if you are stupid enough to send a new invention to China to be prototyped and produced, they’ll be selling and shipping their version of your product weeks or months before they even send you the first trial product.)
–
Never trust China. China is asshole.
