Murphy’s Optimistic Laws

Murphy’s First Law:

Anything that can go wrong will go wrong.

Murphy’s Second Law:

Nothing is as easy as it looks.

Murphy’s Third Law:

Everything takes longer than you think it will.

Murphy’s Fourth Law:

If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong.

Corollary to Murphy’s Fourth Law:

If there is a worse time for something to go wrong, it will happen then.

Murphy’s Fifth Law:

If anything cannot go wrong, it will anyway.

Murphy’s Sixth Law:

If you perceive that there are four possible ways in which a procedure can go wrong, and circumvent these, then a fifth way, unprepared for, will promptly develop.

Murphy’s Seventh Law:

Left to themselves, things tend to go from bad to worse.

Murphy’s Eighth Law:

If everything seems to be going well, you have overlooked something.

Murphy’s Ninth Law:

Nature always sides with the hidden flaw.

Murphy’s Tenth Law:

Mother nature is a bitch.

Murphy’s Eleventh Law:

It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenious.

Murphy’s Twelfth Law:

Whenever you set out to do something, something else must be done first.

Murphy’s Thirteenth Law:

Every solution breeds new problems.

Murphy’s Fourteenth Law:

If anything can’t go wrong on its own, someone will make it go wrong.

Thinking of Admiral Dick Levine…

Bullet Points:

** Job Numbers – (Fox Business) The government quietly erased 439,000 jobs through November 2023, a closer look at the Bureau of Labor Statistics numbers shows.

That means 439,000 positions inflated its initial job results, and the job market is not as healthy as the government suggests.

Since the government wiped out 439,000 jobs after the fact, the total percentage of jobs created by the government last year is even higher. Increased government hiring has been driving the jobs numbers higher.

** Ballot Cleansing – As the decisions disqualifying former President Donald Trump from the 2024 election work their way through the courts, a new filing in Pennsylvania seeks the same “ballot cleansing” by barring Repubfenablican Rep. Scott Perry.

It’s only the latest effort targeting congressional candidates as Democrats seek to bar opponents as “insurrectionists” for questioning the election of President Biden.

We have become a nation of Madame Defarges — eagerly knitting names of those subject to arbitrary justice.

** The Founding Fathers were not career politicians. They were angry extremists who refused to submit to an elite political establishment’s oppressive rule quietly. Maybe that’s why the present elite political establishment is tearing down their statues.

** Taco Truck: Racist

** Should you buy a flame thrower for personal use? Maybe you should make one rather than buy it? I now use one to clear snow at the WWM, so it’s “safe and sane.” It’s not like I use C-4 to clear snow. Though, to be clear, I haven’t tried C-4. Still, it would work. I wouldn’t want to do it AT the house, but to clear heavy drifts down the road. I mean, if I ran out of napalm, right?

**CAMBRIDGE, MA — Liberals have voiced a collective warning following the ouster of Harvard President Claudine Gay, stating the removal could lead to a world where people are held responsible for their poor choices.

“If a black woman named ‘Gay’ can suffer the consequences of her actions, it could happen to anyone,” warned CNN anchor Lewis Donaldson. “Nobody will be safe from the fallout of committing dozens of acts of intellectual theft and deception over several decades.”

** If the United States saw what the United States was doing to the United States, the United States would invade the United States to liberate the United States from the tyranny of the United States.

** “If you can’t endure a bit of PT on a beach in California, what chance do you think you have to survive in a real battle zone?” – BUDS Instructor Class 75

** Eating nose to tail, or otherwise.

** (Mail) A top Kazakh-Russian model jumped to her death from an apartment building two years after being flown to Jeffrey Epstein‘s so-called pedophile island as an 18-year-old.

** Saving money by flying on Air China? Good move!

** Bill Gates took 37 private jet trips to Epstein Island. Despite lacking a medical degree, having a high carbon footprint, and having had close ties with a child trafficker, he’s still hailed by the media as a morally superior climate and virus expert.

** **

Spear Points:

** What do you get when you put your hand into a blender? A handshake.

** My wife’s first husband was a clown. After their divorce, we started dating, and she told me that I had some pretty big shoes to fill.

** The car salesman said I could seat five people in it without any problems. Where am I going to find five people without any problems?

** Why did God create Adam before Eve? He didn’t want any advice on how to do it.

** Yesterday, my doctor told me that I have six months to live. I told him I couldn’t pay the bill, so he gave me another six months.

** Whiskey may not fix your life, but it’s worth a shot.

** The connection to the Internet at the White Wolf Mine is sketchy, so I moved it to the barn. Now I have stable wifi.

** You know what?

** A friend said their child refused to eat fish and asked if I had an idea for a replacement. I said, “Cats. Cats love fish.”

** In the mountains where I live, insurance companies are warning campers that if their tent is stolen at night, they won’t be covered.

** Of all the inventions in the past 100 years, the dry-erase board is the most remarkable.

** The real reason why women and children are evacuated first in any emergency is so the men can figure out the solution without being told they’re wrong 55 times.

** Do you know what the very best birthday present is? A broken drum. You just can’t beat it.

** My wife said, “I hate myself because I look so fat. Could you compliment me?” I replied, “You have perfect eyesight, honey.”

** I no longer see my wife and kids, and it’s all because of gambling. I won the lottery and moved to Hawaii.

** Is Google a man or a woman? A woman, because it won’t let you finish your question without making a suggestion.

** Have you ever fired your handgun in a random direction while blindfolded? You don’t know what you’re missing.

Too Much?

The Old Spanish Trail

It is one of my preferred expedition-style runs while trying to avoid hardball roads.

The Old Spanish Trail was neither old, Spanish, nor even a trail. It was a series of braided trails pioneered and developed by New Mexicans to affect trading between New Mexico and California. The Old Spanish Trail (OST) had a significant role that this long-distance trail network played in the exploration and settlement of the interior Mountain West, southern Nevada, and southern California.

The Value of Being an Informer

(Excerpt from Commander Salamander)

In the US Navy, you can advance your career by becoming a spy among your co-workers on behalf of the DEI crowd, and it’s called Joint Duty Credit.

Believe it or not, DEI has even co-opted Joint Duty Credit. Yes, the cultural Marxist construct that midwifed the closeted Jew-haters has come out in the open the last few months—that worldview.

Our IC, to be charitable, has a spotty record in the last quarter century. Its performance record is not helped by its leadership’s almost-decade or longer fetish of being more interested in domestic politics than they should be. Another sign of this lack of focus and intellectual clarity can be found in its interesting idea of what is included in “Joint.”

They believe that you should get Joint Duty Credit, not for investing your time in expanding your expertise in the intelligence profession – no, not at all. What you need to do is take a leadership position in one of the bevy of sectarian “Affinity Groups” that form the organizing and foot soldiers for the DEI commissariat. Become a Zampolit and get Joint Duty Credit. You can read the whole article at the referenced link.

    2. Avro Canada VZ-9 Avrocar

    Identify the Cars:
    3. Sd.Kfz. 234/2
    4. Sd.Kfz. 234/1

        1. US Army VTOL projects were the VZ series:
          Hiller VZ-1 Pawnee
          Vertol VZ-2
          Ryan VZ-3 Vertiplane

          Yes, Wikipedia can be useful.

  2. IDA-

    3. Sd.Kfz. 234 Sonderkraftfahrzeug 234, Special Purpose Vehicle 234 was the ordnance inventory designation used by Nazi Germany during World War II for military vehicles.
    4. SdKfz 234-1 The vehicles were light armored, armed with a 20, 50 or 75 mm main gun, and powered by a Tatra V12 diesel engine.

  3. When I’m planning remote trips etc I go with O’Tooles Law “Murphy was an optimist”.

When you are 250 plus miles from the nearest town I had spares for the spares for things like tyres. Especially in the pre satellite / mobile phone era.

    1. Many of my remote driving early in my Toyota FJC ownership was in company with the Toyota Trail Teams (Factory Demonstrators). There were one or two of us who went with them on some recreational trips they did outside of the shows they put on. I have stories of fun and interesting runs like the Kokopelli Trail in Colorado and Utah and, the Santa Fe Trail, etc. They had five vehicles and carried almost enough to build a new rig distributed between the vehicles (free to me when something broke). It’s always better if you have skilled mechanics with free OEM parts along for the run.

        1. They did some videos (for Toyota and for personal use). I’ll search YouTube and see if any made there way there.

  4. Murphy’s Seventh has been misattributed to Newton’s 2nd Law of Thermodynamics.
Murphy’s Eleventh Law has convinced me of evolution. Make it foolproof and nature will produce a cleverer fool.

  5. ???Too Much???
The Eagle 1 Custom AR-9 Pistol 9mm looks like a firearm with an identity crisis. Too many moving parts and optics that make it feel like the gunsmiths and metallurgist at Eagle Tactical are in the last stages of syphilis while making this to be the next D.E.I. trophy for the “useful idiot” masses that will die by their own hand with this gaggle fuck of a firearm. There I said it. Might as well keep it going and let my fellow VM misfits know that I am self identifying as Chuck Higginbotham. A twenty of year old female (black white supremist with mutton chops and a Fu Manchu moustache.
    -Hogs

    1. It’s as if they thought that the first hit of acid NEEDED to be followed up with a second before designing the AR-9.

      1. That thing would get caught on everything not tied down right when you tried to use it. I’m into “simpler is better” mode.

    2. Higginbotham – that gave me a memory flashback. Driving US-421 to Winston-Salem, I was approaching a bridge that had an exit just before it. The exit sign said Higgins Bottom Road. This led me to wonder who Higgins was, and why they named a road after his bottom?

      1. So, the front mag is… a spare? … and a foregrip for when you extend the stock? Or, brace, I guess, since stocked pistols are a no-no for some bizarre reason?

        – Kle.

  6. I’d pay good (or bad) money to watch a debate between Juiced-Up Joe and PDJT, if not purely for the entertainment value…or as many of us out here in hinterland think will happen at any time…he shirt-circuits when the Chinesium Sauce overloads the wiring.

    Murphy was also a mechanic:
If it won’t budge, force it, if it breaks it needed replacing anyway.

If you drop a nut or bolt (or 10mm socket) it will end up exactly in the center of the vehicle furthest from your reach.

#2 ID- Proof that Roswell was an AF Operation. Still waiting for one of those to use the lighted riding arena as an LZ.

    1. I can’t imagine Pedo Joe debating either President Trump or Robert Kennedy jr. The Democrat party anointed him without a convention as their old white man to lead the nation again. One wonders whether they will bother with an installation ceremony or not.

      1. I find it incredible the Dem base isn’t outraged they get no choice in the matter, ya know, like we’ve done for 219 years. Almost like an untouchable cult. Then again, look at the arrogance of we owe no one an explanation about ANYTHING DefSec Austin’s deal…the dude could be dead and no one of import knew, not even his deputy. Typical no honor among thieves or criminals or morons (add that to Murphy’s Law).

Heard a few snippets of the J6 Propaganda machine, shows the fear purveyors are getting desperate to maintain the charade. Lara Logan’s interview with that woman who got beat to a pulp/inch if her life by CapPol for standing there…etc…etc…can’t possibly be happening. Yet these same hyperventilator’s have nothing to say about the very real Capitol riot during PDJT’s Inauguration, proving we are not a Constitutional Republic at the hands of those tasked and Oath’d to protect it and us.

Time to clean House…and the Senate…and The Oval Office.

        1. SECDEF Austin’s seizure at Walter Reed does have some heads spinning. His deputy was on vacation in Puerto Rico then and didn’t have the gear to take over his responsibilities. Nobody told Pedo Joe’s people/handlers.

          Knowledge is power.

          1. There are 42 ways to communicate these days, no excuse to not do so with something of this importance. (Oh, and must be nice to be on vacation in PR when the well-known substance is continually hitting the air circulator at breakneck speed. Bums.)

          2. Why would anyone notify Pudding Joe?

            It’s not as though he’s in charge…

            – Kle.

  7. “She was in a cult at the time of her suicide.”
The Mail really put that line in there? How did they determine that? What was she, a Democrat, or a girl who figured out she had no friends and had told the wrong people about the wrong people she’d been entertaining?

Have the corporate ‘chief economists’ caught on to what is being done to jobs reports yet, or are they still advising based on believing the output of GIGO stats?

    1. Her suicide, while regrettable, was existentially necessary for the smooth continuation of the Permanent Washington Establishment (Swamp)…as are so many. It’s difficult to argue that the Swamp IS NOT a cult.

        1. It’s a cult with competing leadership since Pedo Joe doesn’t count. Who really drives the train? Is it a Wall Street coalition that includes Vanguard and Blackrock? Is is the intellectual lightweights in Pedo Joe’s cabinet? Is it Barack and Big Mike?

          1. All of the above, except Big Mike, he/she is staying below radar to avoid packaging scrutiny (my go to response with that one).

          2. Big Mike did his put his name out there for Vice President – but you’re right, there’s not much of him on the media these days. If he and Barack ran onto hard times, they could do a gay porno. I wouldn’t watch it but the pay-per view from Russia and China would be significant.

    2. “Epstein and his friend and Palm Beach neighbor, Donald Trump, would attend parties where models were gathered.
In November 1992, Trump threw a raucous party with NFL cheerleaders at his Mar-a-Lago estate, and invited Epstein. In 1997, the pair were photographed at a Victoria’s Secret party in New York City.”
      His friend.. that’s a stretch.

      1. They traveled similar higher society circles, ran into each other by circumstance not because they were friends. Trump tossed him from M-a-L when he found out Epstein was being a scumbag to “the help”, whom Trump has always been respectful. Done. Over. The media is micron thin slicing their lies to make a connection and comparison while completely ignoring WWM (weirdo with money) Gates.

        1. Did you (y’all) know that Epstein and Trump both kept milk in their refrigerators? They also both used toilet paper. Alike! Totally peas in a pod and all that. And therefore morally equivalent. QED.

          1. News anchor? 😳 As Falstaff would have said, “I am not only FOS in myself, but the cause that S comes out of the mouths of other men.”

Speaking of putting shit in other people’s heads, I think I’ll gather up a bunch of other Chinese troublemakers, form a gang of radical subversives, move into someone else’s country, and systematically undermine its institutions and core cultural values. To avoid any possible misunderstanding about who we are, I’ll call it “The Osaka School.”

          1. Good point, oversight on my part, probably lose all my VM Digital Green Stamps. (Let the flogging begin until my morale improves).

          2. And you had been doing so well -favor blog reader status, social credit points (useful to have in China), green stamps and Highly prized VM points…all gone…like your bank account full of digital currency.

          3. That’s two in the same number of days…therefore the tree of VM reader faux pas liberty must be refreshed from time to time by the relinquishing of status with serious digital bloodletting as an imperative to regain perspective and re-toe the line. “Go my son, and say 20 mia culpa’s and sin no more.”

I suppose I’ll be required to give up my bunk by the barely heating reeducation camp stove until further notice.

          4. You can have Paul’s…not WSF’s. Banner would tear me to pieces if I made THAT move.

  8. Nice little empire you got there. Be a shame if something Chinese was to happen to it.

A guy I used to know was a KC-135 driver and for a while was engaged in “dragging F-18’s across the Pacific” as he so quaintly put it, and regularly overnighted at Wake and Midway due to crew hour issues. He said at one or the other of those, I forget which, visitors would be issued a pellet rifle and told to shoot rats until they couldn’t stand it anymore. I can’t verify the truth in his story, but it is true that it was a story.

    1. I don’t doubt it – it sounds more like Wake. Old NFO may be able to weigh in on that.

    2. Less of a threat than it sounds. Others beat the Chinese to taking over the Global American Empire.

… and the South Asians are well on their way to exerting greater (visible at any rate) power in the fallen Anglosphere anyway.

    1. Maybe add a motor to the wheeled carriage and call it a GMC (Gun Motor Carriage).

  9. add-on to murphy: if a task must be performed, at least six other things must be moved, repaired or found first and by then there’s no time left for the first task.

    1. My new shop rule: Put 10 things away before starting a new job. But yeah, your axiom is so true. (Or can it be chalked up to adult ADHD?…now where was I and why am I standing in the garage?)

      1. And if your wife decided to remove (the critical) tool to use it for something untended and left it somewhere she does not recall, Rule 10 is destroyed.

  10. This one’s great; I’m going to put it into the IRS (immediate retrievel storage) file [just as soon as I can find the file].

  11. In the US Navy, you can advance your career by defeating a spy among your co-workers, and it’s called a ‘blanket party’….

    1. That’s the way it was once done. Today the system has changed in ways I saw coming but never experienced first hand. It’s pervasive.
