Because – Just Because

Stay in the Zone

In 2023 things got worse.

Jules and her spoiled wolf

Bullet Points:

** Why is it that greens want everyone to drive electric cars but don’t want people to have electricity? (NY Post) But the thing about electric cars is that they don’t just need electricity, they also need batteries to store it in. And electric motors. That’s awkward because those cars and batteries require lots of copper and other metals, plus the extraction of “rare earth” minerals that come mostly from China and Africa, where they’re often produced by child or slave labor.

(We used to mine rare earth in America, but the enviros basically got that shut down. It’s easier for companies to get the stuff out of the ground in places where there aren’t sandal-wearing scolds everywhere.) – keep reading the article, worth your time.

** Housekeeping: As you can see, the blog is back up. I’m exhausted and who knows what it will look like, but – yeah. Thanks for the love while I was gone. I had to tutor Mike_C with one favorite (and successful) way to handle an ambush at work in the interlude. If you think that they’re going to fire you anyway…

** GK Chesterton once quipped that the world was divided into Progressives and Conservatives: the business of the Progressive was to go on inventing new mistakes, but the business of the Conservative was to prevent old mistakes from being corrected.

I am old enough to remember when the Left mistrusted Big Business and the Right mistrusted Big Government, the Left backed Labor and the Right backed Management.

They formed the two factions GK Chesterton calls Hudge and Gudge, also knowns as Mammon and Caesar, or Big Money and Big Power.

** Here is the latest from the interview Archbishop Cordileone gave recently on LifeSiteNews. This is in regard to the most recent public display of Christ hate put on by the LA Dodgers.

“They are celebrating this blatant anti-Catholic bigotry–and anti-Christian because they are not only mocking nuns, they are blaspheming Our Lord…This is a blatant attack on all true Christian believers…I hope the alarm bells are going off in the minds of our people as they see how serious this situation is. We cannot afford to be complacent anymore.”

There was a reaction among the players…

Identify the AFV precisely

Sorry if it’s just too easy.

Give the aircraft a try

Sometimes you get the bear. Sometimes the bear gets you.

  1. IDAFV:
    M2/M3 Bradley
    IDA:
    Blackburn Baffin torpedo bomber.
Nice to see you back LL.

  2. Identify the AFV precisely:
    M2A4 Bradley IFV

    Give the aircraft a try:
    Blackburn Baffin (of course!)

  3. Rhino’s in the wild are one of God’s natural world creations, RHINO’s in DC are a self-creation of grifters, cheats, liars, thieves, and narcissists. One lives their prescribed life with presence, the other lives for themselves and could easily be eliminated and no one would notice…unfortunately there’s always another from The Collective Herd to fill the vacuum.

Glad you’re back safely at the WWM, being out in the world is exhausting. The 6 weeks of heavier than typical rain finally moved out (not complaining), and warmer – more seasonal – temps have arrived overnight. Lots to do…whereas the losers and lunatics of society are an infuriating distraction from living well. Ignoring them is the plan.

  4. “I am old enough to remember when the Left mistrusted Big Business and the Right mistrusted Big Government, the Left backed Labor and the Right backed Management.”
That’s the real “Big Switch”. Not the “Repubs are now racists and Dem are pro-black” lie.

It would be nice to hear the story regarding Mike_C.

    1. I don’t know the whole story — yet. But it comes down to inheriting misfeasance (at the very least) complicated by shenanigans. As with most things, if only work was actually about the work itself. In this particular case, the cause of the misfeasance is a known shitbag, but that’s not a pass — in the sense that the problems created by the shitbag still must be solved.

What I do know is that the James Reese way is not a viable option for this situation.

      1. He gave them a quick way out. Better would be to take them somewhere and watch pigs fight over their intestines, running here and there while they’re alive. It’s a movie, he had to be merciful.

      2. It was said that the main dream-wish from Star Trek was not space travel or green gals, but having competent coworkers.

  5. Tap,Tap,Tap…

(Me waiting with baited breath because it should be another of his epic tales…possibly including a few new words I need to add to the toolbox.)

    1. If that refers to me … Sorry, Paul, it’s still brewing (or rotting maybe) and I honestly have no idea how it’s going to turn out. All I can say is “constellation of Cluster B personality disorders” (think Amber Heard, except only this “Amber” is actually highly intelligent, unlike the genuine article who appears to be of no more than average intelligence.)

In the meantime, this is better dialogue than anything likely to happen in my world:

      1. Sorry to hear your jammed up Mike. Cluster b personality shit bags can really take a toll. Praying for you

        1. I told Mike_C to publically accuse the Amber Heard person of giving him genital herpes in front of Big MD at a meeting… while the Big MD (married) is known to be porking her. The Big MD would worry more about what the divorce is going to cost him than Mike_C. Of course, it’s a lie, but in these stressful situations, it’s sometimes useful to divert the Cluster B disordered people’s attention away from you. It’s not as though I haven’t had to deal with shitbirds like them in the past.

        2. Thank you, HogsbreathSS, I appreciate it. Yes, cluster B people are draining, taxing, energy vampires. I learned way more than I ever wanted to about narcissistic personality disorder on my first job after grad school. Painful at the time, but ultimately valuable.

LL’s idea would be interesting to implement (to see the reactions if nothing else) but fortunately I’m not meeting with BMD, nor Amber, at least for now. And it’s a bonus that People Who Matter know about Amber’s misbehavior, so at least I’m not coming across as the villain. But some poor bastid still has to deal with the problems, and that bastid is me. Could be much worse.

      2. Mike_C- Yeah…wrong post spot. If either of those two is what you are dealing with…first…sorry man…second, DON’T ENGAGE IF AT ALL POSSIBLE. Can’t engage crazy.

And…geez…Sheridan figured he needed a fire-ready-aim hot-headed chick to upend the furniture and threaten lives every time she shows up….what hay is with Beth being a permanent ready to go blasting cap? (Any gal that talked like that needs an attitude adjustment…’course, then she wouldn’t be the same).

And what’s her name – an older post-“Coyote Ugly” Piper Perabo I believe – is just as nasty when provoked, only a Lefty. Competing crazies.

Dutton somehow manages to get caught between a rock and competing globs of female Semtex…his last scene line is priceless.

        1. Thanks. Fortunately not dealing with Beth or Summer. But I do like the direct venom of “I hope you die of ass cancer” in response to snark about needing a therapist. I figure if things really go south then I’ll haul out the “ass cancer” line. At which point it’s 98%+ probability the contract would be pulled, and maybe 1-2% the other side will say, “Hey, I like Yellowstone too!”

          1. Therapist=TheRapist I know that you are all aware, I just wanted to throw the spaghetti against the wall.

  6. Seems the bear knows that the creature behind has friends with “pain” dispensers. Kind of like the bees, but worser. Best run.

  7. 1. I start the day with two things: coffee (an awful lot thereof mostly taken on the balcony no matter the conditions. Nah! the meds don’t do a damn thing fer me.) and your column.
    2. a long time ago I purchased a t-shirt on which is emblazoned a picture of a rhino with the comment,” Save the chubby Unicorns”. And of course, I can’t gorget that part of the scene from “The Gods must be Crazy” in which Steyn is attempting to explain to Kate that the rhinos are the “self-appointed fire marshals” of the jungle.
    3. I used to be an inveterate fan of “Da Bums” until, a year before I graduated high school, they moved out on me, ”The Greatest, Guaranteed Comedy Show on Earth (ever played on a baseball
diamond)”. I’m only afraid the good Cardinal understated what they did. Compared to Anheiser-Busch’ minor loss of balance this was a thumping great pratfall; as a Jew (lapsed – OK, greatly lapsed), I (hate to use the expression) take offense (but in the manner of Lepke Buchalter, Bugsy Siegel, and Meyer Lansky), not just for my Christian friends, but me, me personally. This wasn’t in any manner/way humorous/necessary, had absolutely no connection with baseball; it was just the blatant display of very sick minds.

  8. Nothing but electric cars and no electricity will force people into the 15 minute cities where they will be far easier to control, heck everything will be easier for them to control when the people are in one place!

    1. In the 15-minute cities, all the men will be women and all the women will be men.

      1. Forcibly attempting to create the dystopian worlds they believe are theirs to lord over. Not going to work…as with at least half of America 2A still exists in my Pocket Constitution.

Just completed the new Entry and Gate system at the end of the driveway (old one was in need of replacing…anyone not possessing the entry codes gets past the front one, then this one, I know they don’t belong here. (It’s a clue to what may happen thereafter.)

        1. Oh heavens, don’t tell me that you strategically placed (and boobytrapped) M-18A1s around your entry. My work here is done.

          1. Yep…you are The Grand Poohbah.

Inspiration in such precautions comes from many sources, including that cabin invasion scene in Angel Has Fallen. Heh.

  9. All political parties support more government, that’s why they are political parties. What the Left backed was collecting Labor’s votes; what the Right backed was collecting Management’s votes. Neither helped the middle class.

Ex(?) CIA employee WFB led the second team of the Left; rock’ed sock’em robots POW POW POW! But the graphs of government headcount and spending go ever-upward, just as they are managed to.

The thus-far invincible aggressiveness of the Soviet Union does or does not constitute a threat to the security of the United States, and we have got to decide which. If it does, we shall have to rearrange, sensibly, our battle plans; and this means that we have got to accept Big Government for the duration — for neither an offensive nor a defensive war can be waged, given our present government skills, except through the instrument of a totalitarian bureaucracy within our shores.
    […]
And if they deem Soviet power a menace to our freedom (as I happen to), they will have to support large armies and air forces, atomic energy, central intelligence, war production boards and the attendant centralization of power in Washington — even with Truman at the reins of it all.

  10. LL, glad to see you back and in one piece albeit a bit exhausted. Here is to a quick recovery.

Jules, bacon for dog/wolf treats. Would not work for me. I would end up arguing with the beasty over who gets the last strip of bacon.

Mike_C Sorry you are going through this pain. One of the reasons I retired retired was the day to day dealing with people who thought their reality was the one that everyone else had to deal with and their reality was more important than getting the darn job done. Good luck and always bear in mind you will get through the mess.

I will take a pass on the bears, thanks though.

  11. I don’t know if this sordid little story is germane to Mike C’s problem or not, but I once had two business partners who turned out to be lying, scheming turds. I got certain obligations cleaned up and then gave ’em two weeks’ notice and a bit of a warning. Play nice for two weeks and I’d leave the area and go back into a different industry altogether and they’d never hear from me again. But eff with me even just a little bit and I had a job lined up at a competitor and would do my level best to put them out of business.

They effed with me more than just a little bit, so I did as promised. Although I’m not conceited enough to believe I was the only cause of their subsequent professional demise, exposed bank frauds and considerable IRS problems, their hubris contributed more toward that bonfire of their vanities than I surely did, yet still I grin proudly knowing that I did my little bit to help the slide.

For the record, I did not rat them out to the IRS. One of their own family members did that, but I did have a nice little chat with a banker who called me about certain irregularities. Ooopsie!

    1. The trouble with those types is that they are afflicted with incompetent optimism, and think they can get away with it, and yet still manage to muck it up at some point.

  12. Rhinos are armored ‘unicorns’… LOL And I ‘think’ the econazis believe we’ll get electricity from the unicorn farts…

  13. Well, that went about as well as could have been expected. There will doubtless be drama, but The People Who Matter were fully aboard. Whew.
Thanks for the well wishes and advice. (And I didn’t have to pull out the VD accusation. So I can save that up for another time, I guess.)
