** Star Trek: New Worlds Season 2 will premiere this summer on Thursday, June 15. The 10-episode season will air new episodes on Thursdays. It’s not as bad as the other Star Trek (negros, ample women, and queers in space), the title of which escapes me.
** Bosch Legacy (season 2) will air in September or October 2023. I like the series. The second season renewal was green-lighted ahead of the first season premiering. Since then, a third season was also approved.

** The Claypool Tunnel is part of an abandoned alignment of the first US Route 180, US Route 60, and US Route 70. The Claypool Tunnel can be found in Queen Creek Canyon on the eastern outskirts of the town of Superior, Arizona. The Claypool Tunnel was completed in 1922 as the final leg of the Miami-Superior Highway and replaced the Apache Trail as the primary highway between Phoenix-Globe. The Claypool Tunnel was replaced by the Queen Creek Tunnel which was constructed in 1952 and opened to traffic in 1953. The US Routes of Superior were originally carried through the community on Magma Avenue and Main Street prior to the modern bypass opening in 1955.

Old tunnels are cool. We have one behind us from when the narrow gauge RR companies were competing to complete a line between Denver and Salt Lake. This company lost. First exploration of the tunnel and site you could picture them building this thing, the entry cribbing timbering, where the men camped, etc. Once past the fallen timbers the tunnel was really clean, even went through it a few times…up until a few years back after some heavy snows started dropping rocks. Too iffy today after 100 years.
My first impression was picturing two Indians sitting on their horses watching the tunnel work, then one says to the other, “Only a white man would go through the mountain.”

One of the things we liked about England was the history at almost every corner. Most of the Brits were pretty blase about it. For example, the first house we lived in was built in the late 1400s and had flint walls about 4 feet thick. It started life as a stable and was converted to a house late in the 1800s and gradually updated. It was really quite nice except for the size of the bedrooms. They were a bit on the tiny side. Nobody at the pub thought anything about it since most peoples houses were along the same lines.
I lived in places like that in England and Scotland. They’re common and in one case, there was a toilet but no bathtub or shower. I had to go to the public bath in town and rent a tub.
The rosy economic picture General Betrayus painted relative to Europe’s natural gas supplies leaves out the impact of significantly higher costs for industrial users and in electricity generation due to those wonderful new sources of gas for Europe. Also left out was the Brilliant! Jake Sullivan (or Macron or Rishi Sunak) saying the US (or France or the UK) would respond to use of nuclear weapons by anyone with a US strategic response. “Catastrophic consequences” must be that brilliance Betrayous recognizes, that being his key accomplishment in Iraq.

IMO, only bad thing about Bosch Legacy is it being screened on Amazon Freevee. Gotten spoiled by not having to watch ads, although the program is screened on the Amazon pay service. Very unhappy camper with ads during the first Bosch Legacy. But the series is so interesting I watch anyhow, with a lot of p & m during the ads although I mute them.
German Mother-in-law visited us some years ago and while listening to the news on car radio she asked my wife if the person speaking was Clinton. Mrs. Cletus said she didn’t know, as Cletus always muted the tv or turned the radio off when Clinton was speaking. While he was in office I wore out the tv remote mute button and had to purchase a new remote.
