Caption: We’ve arrived at the anniversary of the attack on the New York World Trade Center, the Pentagon, and the aborted White House attack by Saudi Arabian-based Wahhabists. Barack Hussein Obama (defender of the Faith) tried to turn September 11 into a day honoring community agitators such as he was. There are a lot of people who are trying to detune the attacks on the United States. Those who want to diminish the memory of the attacks are not welcome to stand near (anywhere in the vicinity) anywhere I may be standing. The people who oppose enhanced interrogations that were conducted of Wahhabist scum and their allies can likewise remove themselves, or we can fight. I’m cool with the fight. I think we’re back to JHawg Ammunition…put some ham into Mohammed. Am I being too subtle? It’s a failing of mine.

Bye Bye Boeing

Even if Starliner were operational after now, Boeing can’t compete with SpaceX on cost in part because SpaceX has been able to sell flights to partners other than NASA. The more you fly, the less each flight costs, and SpaceX will keep flying more. Insurance costs for Boeing flights after this well-publicized debacle will be “astronomical.”

Boeing, one of the aerospace giants, has been around for over a century, contributing immensely to aviation and space exploration. However, in modern space exploration, Boeing seems to be hitting roadblocks, while SpaceX, founded in 2002, is rocketing ahead. Why is that?

The key lies in the differences in culture, innovation, and risk-taking. Boeing is a traditional company rooted in a structured, bureaucratic environment. This has often slowed down its ability to adapt quickly to new challenges. On the other hand, SpaceX, led by Elon Musk, embraces a fast-paced, fail-forward approach. They aren’t afraid to take risks and fail; they quickly learn from failures to improve their designs.

Moreover, SpaceX has vertical integration—they build most of their components in-house, which allows them to iterate quickly and keep costs down. Boeing, however, relies on a vast network of suppliers, making their production process slower and more expensive.

Lastly, SpaceX’s leadership heavily invests in innovation and bold goals like colonizing Mars. This vision inspires their teams to push the boundaries of what’s possible, while Boeing, with its more conservative approach, focuses on meeting government contracts and maintaining its legacy.

In a nutshell, Boeing’s struggles come from its traditional structure and slower adaptation to change. At the same time, SpaceX’s agility, innovation, and willingness to take risks have propelled it to the forefront of space exploration. Musk just revealed the timeline for his Mission to Mars. In two years, they’re sending the first uncrewed Spaceships to Mars. This is all about testing how well their landing system works. If that goes well, they plan to send the first crewed flights to Mars in four years.

Identify the Aircraft

1

Due to its unusual configuration, the aircraft had stability issues. The forward wing caused complex aerodynamic interactions with the main wing, making the aircraft more difficult to control, especially at low speeds.

    1. What’s silly about wanting to play the role of a powerful woman (yass-yass) demonstrating – whatever the F? I couldn’t be less impressed. At least, I don’t think that I could be. Everytime I think that the bar is as low as it can go, I’m surprised that it’s buried deeper.

      1. We are supposed to turn up our noses at Uncle Mel’s ahistorical William Wallace, but we have to grovel before Jodie Turner-Smith’s Anne Boleyn “because it’s accurate in ALL WAYS THAT MATTER, bigot!”

Heading into Penn Station as I peck this out on the phone. In Manhattan on 9/11! I’m genuinely curious if anything will be different on the streets today.

        1. Be careful out there ‘among the English’…they are like a 10 year-old box of chocolates, never know what you’ll get and completely useless for the intended purpose.

        2. My wife and I did enjoy “My Lady Jane” on Prime Video. It’s a fantasy comedy in an alternative universe with shapeshifters, set in the period following the death of Henry VIII. It doesn’t pretend to be history, but it is quite well done and is amusing in a good way (rather than accidentally).

  1. Today is my birthday, and 23 years ago was the reason I joined our volunteer fire department at the age of 43. I didn’t realize I would be so good at it. Apparently being a dairy farmer/ carpenter/ mechanic is a good base skill set for this type of work, at least in this area.

I still visit the comment section here at VM and sit here like the meme of the guy all alone at a party when nobody wants to talk about cows. I learn more from the comments than the content most days.

    1. Happy 66th! One more time around the Sun! And thank you for your service to the community and to us all.

    2. Many happy returns of the day.

And I’d MUCH rather learn about cows at a party than deal with what passes for topical conversation these days.

      1. My first date with the Mrs…told her I knew how to fix a prolapsed uterus in a sheep. Might have locked her in at that point, being…of course…a veterinarian’s version of “You come here often?” pick up line.

      2. What else you gonna spend that extra money on
What else is gonna get you up hours before dawn
What else is gonna keep you toiling on and on and on
May you always have cows around.
        .
I joined a black iron gym to work out. After 8 years of lifting weights in North Texas, I have also learned a lot about the protein content of various grasses, all the ailments and pests beeves can be subjected to, and more laments about the lack of rain, too much rain, too hard rain, to little rain, too late rain to harvest, too early rain to plant, and so on than you can shake a stick at… which is just enough to know how plumb ignorant I am of the whole cattle business.

        Happy Birthday, FHubert!

    1. Exactly… NASA has to say that they’re doing something useful while they wait for SpaceX to save them.

  2. 23 years certainly goes by fast. I’ll never forget it and don’t think anybody ever will. They shouldn’t. The world stood still in horror and disbelief that day.

Anne Boleyn: apparently it’s drama, thriller, spontaneous entertainment. Not history. Just in case you were really wondering…

Anyway, Slow Horses new season is out. More accurate.

    1. For those of you who are not following the series, a dysfunctional team of MI5 agents and their obnoxious boss, the notorious Jackson Lamb, navigate the espionage world’s smoke and mirrors to defend England from sinister forces. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O9ZJChzPn0U

The books by Mick Herron are available in print or digitally on amazon.com – I’ve read the entire series.

      1. Jules, I’ve been considering who could play “ME” in the made-for-TV-feature-length film. I know that Juicy Smolett comes to mind immediately (short, wimpy, homosexual negro, felon), but no. What about Idris Elba? English actor and rapper – but more appropriate for the role.

        1. Well, since you’ve been self-identifying as a black whiny woman for a while I was thinking Megan Markle might be a better fit.

  3. KJP, AKA Mophead, is in front of the press to deflect, detract, lie and reroute questions or observations as much as possible away from the truth. When required, a bit of theater is required. Her credit is that she can do all of this with a straight face, neither laughing, crying nor facial expressions.

For those who are not familiar with the term Mophead, it is not a racial slur, but instead a reflection of her hair style which was quite popular some time ago.

    1. It’s a Sideshow Bob thing. She’d have done well on the Simpsons or could have played a native in Zulu, but we have her in the White House to entertain daily.

        1. It’s amazing how much more lifelike Disney has made The Muppets over the years.
If it weren’t for her soulless button eyes, you might mistake her for a Human.

          – Kle.

        1. All that high living in the Beltway. The baby fat would vanish if you turned her loose on the veldt.

  4. 9/11 – Not just a despicable evil act but a massive failing of those in charge of keeping America safe from our enemies, both within and out. My heart still aches for those who paid the ultimate price in excruciating fear before their demise, and we will forever honor the memory of those who went INTO the buildings to save lives then died in the line of duty…true hero’s who gave their all. I have full contempt to those who “were watching” the perpetrators yet did nothing to stop them…a galactic-sized pox on their houses, may God have mercy on their rotten souls.

Everything else today is “small” in comparison.

    1. From my ability to read between the lines, the Clinton Administration and the Intelligence Agencies that the Clintons remade knew pretty much what was going on all the way to when Clinton stepped down and Bush took over. And then the Intelligence Agencies did not pass on the intel that skullduggery was afoot within these United States, in order to lay the blame firmly on the Bush Administration (sounds familiarly what Obama’s people did to Trump, doesn’t it?)

As to OBL’s locations from 2001 to 2011, you can’t tell me that the very intel agencies that can ferret out the location of a single person on a single day from just one picture did not know where OBL was. The timing of the whacking, at a time when BHO’s ratings were tanking, was very suspicious. After all, that was ‘his’ big achievement which he rode on to victory in the following election.

I mean, it could all just be coincidence, the failure to pass the intelligence torch, the hiding of critical intelligence of national importance from a sitting president and the use of intelligence to jack up the ratings of a failing president. Surely it’s all just coincidence and not actually malicious actions taken by our intelligence agencies, right? Right?

  5. My head is spinning. I had seen that poster for the Anne Boleyn show with a black woman and thought it was a joke. The usual everything is being remade with black stars punchline.

Then I looked it up on IMDB.

    Oh. My. God.

What planet is this and how did we get here? I end up saying this at least once a day every day now.

    1. Then you should not look up the cast for the BBC’s “Troy: Fall of a City”.
From memory, Zeus, Aeneas, and Achilles are negroes. Athena is mixed. Best of all, Artemis is an albino negro.

      1. Meagan Markle Princess is not “black enough” to play many of the new blackwashed roles. I think she’s technically an octoon on the miscegenation table (I don’t have one but Hollywood uses them). It’s a source of constant irritation to the diva. Her features don’t even support the albino negro roles that might have otherwise been offered to the insufferable bitch. By the way, Mike_C, EVERYONE who is anyone knows that the ancient Greeks, including Cleopatra Ptolemy, were negroes. It only stands to reason that Zeus and Apollo were POCs. The Trojans (Ethnic Turks) were obviously also negroes. It’s the work of the patriarchy that suggests that Turks and Greeks are not black. Julius Caesar must have had Nubian parents because he too, was black. If you watch the new Gladiator film, Denzel Washington plays Caesar – if I understand the plot correctly.

        1. PS – Black Liberation Theology, a “faith” based congregation where Barack (1/2 black) and Big Mike (80% black) first hooked up, holds that Jesus was a negro. LSP, a religious professional, might be able to offer clarification.

          1. Yes, of course, but aren’t all gods black? It’s fair to put it that way, but your worship should default to a worship of every television advertisement and let it roll from there.

          2. Reminds me of my mondo Crayola box (w/ sharpener of course)…one “flesh” colored and plenty of brown shades. Never once thought of crayons as racist, just colors. I must be ignorant.

  6. “It’s a failing of mine”. Indeed. I think I borrowed this movie line here recently–
“I recognize your symptoms. I have the same sickness”. In this case, sickness with air quotes.

  7. Rosetta Stone- Just cool beans. Yet some in this era have determined “we” are smarter than the ancients despite no one having come up with a plausible theory in practice how the Egyptians actually built the pyramids (or Stonehenge for that matter). Sure, having 10,000 slaves helps…but still, someone had to know the logistics and day to day machinations to build those structures. (and no, an Alien sky hook is not a solution.)

    1. The Rosetta Stone story used to be taught in school. Used to be. And it was taught that the stone was Ancient Hieroglyphics, not-so-Ancient Hieroglyphics and Greek. Of course it was also taught at the same time that the Ptolemies controlled Egypt at that time and they were, duh, Greek. Including Cleopatra.

That this story, the discovery of the Rosetta Stone, isn’t well known anymore is truly a failure of our modern educational system.

As to the Pyramids, we’ve known how they did it for at least 100 years. People have made ‘modern’ pyramids using ramps and sand removal techniques on and off for said at least 100 years. It’s not hard. Dig deep canals to the construction site. Load up barges at the quarries, wait for the ‘spring’ floods to happen and float everything down to the construction sites. Remove stones. Drag stones into pre-position, cut and shape as needed, drag into position. Start in one corner, go all the way around. Finish one course, build a ramp around the outside until you finally get to the top, then start sheeting the outside and work your way down while removing the ramp. Weee…. No space ships. No massive cranes. Soo simple it’s unbelievable. And you do it on the off season when you’re not farming.

But then again, the same wonks who can’t fathom how the Pyramids were built are also the same wonks who can’t fathom how medieval cathedrals and castles were built, even though plenty of illustrations show how they were.

As to Stonehenge and other henges, duh. Mine, float, drag, emplace. It’s not that hard. Manpower intensive? Yes. Hard like building a Saturn V? No.

They’ve also known how the Easter Island statues were moved at least 80 years ago. They walked them using ropes and tugging. It’s why some Moa are lying in places between the quarry-carving station and the final locations, because they fell over and it was easier to make a new one than to try to stand the damned things back up.

It’s like Roman Cement. Once you make modern cement using the same materials as the Romans, then, gee, suddenly modern cement acts just like ancient cement. Hint. It’s the compressed volcanic ash that makes the cement so darned great.

I could go on, but, well, you catch my drift.

The worse offenders, of course, were the English Victorians (and others, like some French, some Germans, some Italians, some Americans) who absolutely believed they were examples of the best of the best of the best so any proof that ancient people had stuff as good or better than them had to be faked and that justified destroying actual evidence (like, oh, say, plastered rooms in castles and monasteries from the medieval period that showed vibrant colors and careful attention to detail in plaster shapes and such)(or like metal objects that were better than what could be produced at the time, like blown gold balls found on lots of ancient jewelry (I’ve seen someone do this with medieval tools, fascinating, beautiful.)

  8. You, and readers, do a better job than me with the ‘Big Picture’. Perhaps I can add a side note. Those prisoners held at Guantanamo demanded, and were given, special treatment. My source? A younger cousin, retired Master Chief, who worked there for several years as a guard.
The rag heads who flew those planes into the buildings learned how to fly at American flight schools. The instructors smelled a rat and informed the FBI, who did squat.

      1. X2…The FBI…”watches”…then do nothing…almost as if they want what happened to happen. Nah, couldn’t be.

  9. I lost friends in the Pentagon. Jack Punches, Larry Getzfred, and AW1 Joe Pycior. Never forget… Re Ryan’s ‘excursion’, he’s not the only one that has done that for the adrenaline rush, but at least he made it back.

  10. Boeing used to be what SpaceX is now, innovators and engineers who could shoot, move and communicate in a dynamic environment. Consider that in a short 20 years, they ginned up the B’s 17, 29, 47 and 52 and the Dash-80 that spawned the 700-series jets. The basic design of the B-52 was ginned up in a hotel room over one weekend using balsa wood, slide rules and sheer force of will. Now they “ain’t going.” What a shame.

    1. I had a boss who got fired at Boeing because of bad publicity. He created a canon to propel birds into windshields to simulate bird strikes. His canon worked well, might still be in use, but the bad publicity came about by him using live birds, mainly turkeys.

    2. Boeing used to be. Then they were taken over by idiots with MBAs and accountants working to reduce the bottom line. Which resulted in the elimination of old workers with lots of corporate knowledge.

Boeing’s final death move was building a nice shiny new corporate headquarters far far away from the people who actually built stuff. This ties in with most businesses that build ‘Taj Mahal’ style headquarters which is followed by the businesses then failing. Fitting, as the Taj Mahal is just a giant mausoleum, a literal death house.

The true cause? All those voting stock members who didn’t vote for the best of Boeing, but voted for the best return on their stocks at that time.
