** (h/t Claudio – Strategypage) Ukraine developed and used its new Palianytsia turbojet-powered drone. So far, this drone has been used in three successful attacks, destroying two munitions depots and heavily damaging a military air base. Ukraine is compiling many other suitable targets within 700 kilometers of the Ukrainian borders.
Ukraine revealed that each Palyanitsa cost about $100,000 and carried a warhead consisting of about 40 kg of explosives. Its range is 700 kilometers, and its speed is about 1,400 kilometers an hour. That means Palianytsia can reach a target 700 kilometers away in about half an hour. Palianytsia can fly low to avoid detection by radar, and so far, none have been intercepted by Russian air defense systems.
After about 18 months of work, Palianytsia was developed and is in production. It does not use exotic or hard-to-obtain components and can be mass-produced by Ukraine.

Historical Reflection
Sir William Marshal, often called the ‘greatest knight’ of his era, was an Anglo-Norman soldier and statesman who served five English kings: Henry II, Young King Henry, Richard I, John, and John’s son Henry III. Born around 1146, he rose from obscurity to become a key figure in the power dynamics of England. Known for his combat skills, he remained undefeated in tournaments, spared the life of Richard I of England in battle, and ascended to become Marshal and then Protector of the Kingdom. He was knighted in 1166 and spent his younger years as a knight errant and a successful tournament competitor. Stephen Langton, the Archbishop of Canterbury, described him as the ‘greatest knight that ever lived.’
In 1189, he became the de facto Earl of Pembroke through his marriage to Isabel de Clare. He defeated over 500 opponents in single combat, knighted two kings, ruled England as Regent, beat a powerful French army on English soil, saved the kingdom of England, and earned the respect of Europe. He was called “The Flower of Chivalry”. In 1216, he was appointed protector for the nine-year-old Henry III and regent of the kingdom. Just before his death, he fulfilled his promise in his youth while on a crusade by taking vows as a Knight Templar and is buried in the Temple Church in London. His deeds and titles are such that his claim of being the greatest knight still seems justified today.
A Landslide?
(Yahoo News) Denial is the reliable product of desperation: the realization, however imperfectly acknowledged, that the jig is up.
Harris’s numbers among men of all races are in the tank. The only exception is among the brittle ephebes of the media and the academy. They are there with their Chardonnay, list of pronouns, and aging Covid masks to plant Harris-Walz signs on their front lawns and warn against the dangerous tyrant-in-waiting, Donald Trump.
But this is a minuscule, psychologically insignificant cohort. That is why the Harris-Walz campaign has been driven to desperate measures. It has rolled out a pitiful litany of feints and diversionary tactics in the last week or two.
Some were unforced errors, as when the news program 60 Minutes ran a preview of its interview with Harris that prominently included one of her signature no-calorie word salad emissions. CBS excised that response when they aired the full interview, substituting an innocuous reply to another question. But the damage was done. The original response was widely mocked. The bowdlerized substitute sparked fury and contempt for the hapless, in-the-can-for-Harris behavior of CBS.
My favourite bit of pandering was the truly horrible “I’m-a-man-and-I’m-voting-for-Harris” ad. It was rightly derided as the “cringiest political ad ever.”
Like many people, I initially thought it was a spoof, an anti-Harris production designed to make fun of her and her running mate, Tim Walz. That certainly was the effect. But it turns out that the half dozen men in the ad were not random bearers of XY chromosomes who just happened to support Harris for president. No, they were B-list actors recruited to deliver their lines.
And what lines they were. One actor, who pretended to know about cars, said, “You think I’m afraid to rebuild a carburetor? I eat carburetors for breakfast.” I am considering offering a reward to anyone who can tell me what that means.
One enterprising commentator discovered who wrote the ad – Jacob Reed, who has written for the late-night talk-show host Jimmy Kimmel – and the real-life biographies of the actors. Let’s just say that none appears to be a poster child for masculinity. The comments have been brutal. “Zero testosterone was used in the making of this ad”; “A Real Man instantly realizes that there isn’t a single Real Man in this pathetic beta male cringe-fest of a propaganda video”; “From the party that can’t tell you what a woman is”; “As a man, I think I walked away from this ad with a yeast infection.”
Then there was Tim Walz’s “pheasant hunting” wheeze. I deploy the scare quotes because no pheasants were harmed in producing that farce. Walz and a handful of reporters accoutered in identical, brand-new hunting gear, are shown traipsing around a field without guns. Were they intending to catch the pheasant by hand and strangle them?
Eventually, Walz is given a shotgun, but it is the wrong sort of gun for a hunt – semi-automatic, not a break-action gun. Not that it mattered. As one commentator noted, Walz’s “gun handling skills make Dick Cheney look like the safest shooter in the world. Perhaps that is why Cheney endorsed him.”
Walz was alternately compared to the cartoon character Elmer Fudd and Governor Mike Dukakis. Readers with long memories will remember how Dukakis tried to act tough during the 1988 presidential campaign by riding around in an army tank and wearing a helmet that was too large. It marked the end of his campaign…
Let’s hope that it’s too big to steal.

If you are using three rounds your calibre is too small. Late in my army career I had a choice of 9 mm, 5.56 or 7.62 to take as personal weapon. I took 7.62.
The SEAL Teams in my era carried .45 ACP handguns and Model 66 (.357) revolvers when they had to be immersed in salt water. The M-14s (7.62) and the M-60s were highly modified variants that didn’t bear much resemblance to the originals. They were much lighter, much more functional, and far more lethal. M-203s and some CAR-16s (which morphed into the M-4) were carried for some applications. There are situations where the 5.56 works fine in military applications. There are no Swiss army knife-style firearms. The right tool for the job is the approach that worked best. Even today, I think that’s true. Small units can be more adaptable than large ones, but small units are very vulnerable operationally when they come up against large units, not just because of numbers but operational re-supply problems. You go through ammunition very quickly in kinetic combat so it’s better not to do that. Breaking contact with larger formations is essential to live out the operation. I read what people write these days and there is some implication that super warriors always prevail and that’s not the case when the bullets are flying. You stand a better chance of prevailing and surviving if you’re with well trained, equipped and experienced people, but the good ones are killed and savagely wounded too.
This would call for a divisional artillery fire mission, in an earlier era. Today we’ll just send in the drones.
AGREED.
Palyanitsa- Any photos of this drone?
I looked but couldn’t find any.
All I have seen are graphics, not photos.

I’ve always been a fan of the 6.5-6.8mm calibers. Higher sectional densities bring better penetration, good ballistics carrying more energy further down range, lighter than 7.62x51mm, and less recoil. Being able to carry more rounds for the same weight is a plus, if you’re in a situation where that matters (thankfully, I’ve never been there). I always thought Army Ordnance was too wedded to the past when they forced 7.6.2x51mm down NATO throats, reneging on an agreement already made to use the .280 British intermediate round. Then only a decade later, they decided that was too much round for the average infantryman (who hardly ever engages targets 800m away except to keep their heads down), and went to 5.56x45mm. Good round at high velocities, but not great penetration, and at longer ranges where velocity has dropped (especially the M4), not much more damage than in-and-out small holes. Too big, then too small, now going to a right size in an overly complex bimetallic round generating overly high pressures that has to have a lower-power training round to keep from burning out barrels too quickly. I’m not impressed with any of their decisions since WW2.
I shoot two wildcat cartridges: a 25 Souper (.257 on a necked-down .308 cartridge, fireformed to fit the chamber precisely) and a 65 Mini-Mag (.264 on a necked-down 30-06 cartridge). Both produce excellent ballistics, combining the best of both worlds. I also shoot .308, .50 BMG, etc.
Florida girl here – the Game of Thrones AI absolutely nailed it!
The tune is catchy.
The cholla? You need plyers to pull them out, tweezers will not do the job.
A regular comb works as well as plyers (sic) but you are right about tweezers no doing the job.
A hot poured “wax job” works quite well as well.
Ask me how I know.
How do you know?
two applications (each followed by ice water) of low-melting “sticky” dental wax “otherwise, it’ll be like plucking pin feathers off a live goose.”
I was 6.
Many children who venture into the desert have similar experiences. I recall my younger brother grabbing a chollo when he was about the same age. The needle-nose pliers came out. He was not amused.
Hearts and mind. Hearts is plural so there is two in the chest. Then one in the head. This is the result of using a caliber designed to wound instead of kill. The plus side of 5.56 rounds is that they are very accurate and have almost no recoil.
I learned about the teddy bear cholla the hard way by brushing against one with my left arm. It was a memorable day.

Not sure about those hand grenades hanging on the side of the Schwimmwagen and that unsecured anti-tank weapon. But, nice photo.
I wondered what the effect of small arms fire on them would be.
Not much.
The Potato Masher style of grenade requires unscrewing the base cap and reaching in to pull the ring. So it’s a very safe grenade to hang off of just about everything, like a Schwimmwagon.
–
The Panzerfaust is jammed between the two front seats so it is also pretty darned safe.
–
And, really, how many shortcuts do people in the military take after years of war? Lots.
–
Both groups of weapons are highly stable in regards to being hit by small arms fire. And if hit by HE, the crew’s dead anyways so any secondaries don’t really matter.
Old age is when you dream about/review/consider the good times you used to have/thought you had
and ask yourself, “Would I do it (the same way) again?”
Would you?
An enemy moving away from you may be going back for more ammo, or heading to where the heavy weapons are. Neither scenario is conducive to your own survival unless you perform a kinetic interruption. Men voting for Harris – surprised they didn’t bring back pajama boy.
Pajama Boy was a great ambassador for the ObamaNation, asking people to discuss hope and change during Christmas, or X-Mas as the Obama regime called it.
Gentlemen: That’s Pajama MAN. (or however xe chooses to identify, that is)
And Say Xer Name! How DARE you dehumanize poor Ethan Krupp? (Unless xe identifies as not H. sapiens, that is.)
Pajama person. Assuming masculinity assumes too much. Facts not in evidence.
Heli-water-barefoot-skiing: I was waiting for the tow lone to foul the rotors of

** Old age is when it takes you longer to get over a good time than to have it.
No, old age is deciding between a good time and a nap.
Watching Walzenbungler try to load a shotgun makes one wonder how/if he ever qualified with an M-16. I give him one point for keeping the muzzle point skyward. Maybe he was trying to load 3″ shot shells into a 2 3/4″ receiver? (I know diddly squat about shotguns)
I’m sure that Waltz used a 22 caliber pencil to qualify.
I watched the entire Carlson/Brand interview a while back and was super impressed. He’s got some doctrinal stuff to catch up on, but he’s got the zeal.
Amen.
.
All this talk about landslide. Either that refers only to Electoral College or the national voter polls are wayyyyyy offff.
EC is the only thing that matters. I’m praying. I never want to hear about Ho/Schmo® again.
Me as well…new Christians are like that…means I need to get myself more in gear, can’t let Him down by being lax..being on the bench instead in the game at the plate swinging away is part of the struggle.
“…and a landslide brought you down.” Trump needs to be playing Fleetwood Mac at the start of every rally.

Trans Models- No such thing as a Transwhatchamacallit, but hey, if it floats your boat to cross dress and tuck-n-roll your Estrogen fueled skinny frame then have at it (Gorilla tape for the secured…uhh…yeah…that). In the meantime, let Transwhatevers have their own runway circuit…oh, that’s right…because attendance would be so low they have to infiltrate the mainstream shows. Question: Why do certain industries work so hard to pander to every weirdo out there? (Yeah, sounds unChristian, but Jesus called those out who were astray, with compassion…but today many/most aren’t listening.)
***
Extremism- What people do in their spare time. I say go for it…more desserts for the rest of us.
I think neither of those pseudo females would need to tuck and roll as what they wore made it look as if they had the removal surgery.

Look at that rack of hammers, they must be collision repair sheet metal workers searching for the next vehicle to repair. […] I watched the movie “The Triplets of Belleville” in the theater, and only my buddy and I laughed in recognition when the old woman pulled out the potato masher to “fish” for frogs.
I’m not a very good water skier. I start doing my best impersonation of a bass plug heading for the bottom while the people in the tow boat are screaming “Let GO Of The Rope!”…..
.
I would have been telling you, “Hold onto the rope, DRJIM – we need another take for the YouTube video!”
And probably urging the boat driver to throttle UP…..
That AI is WAY too good! And there are that many trailers down around Zephyr Hills… Also, denial is NOT just a river in Egypt…
So NOW what? Are we still supposed to hate Columbus?
This is an intersectionality nightmare.

From the linked article: “Show organizer Ed Razek told Vogue in 2018 that he didn’t think “transsexuals” should be on the Victoria’s Secret runway. ‘The show is a fantasy. It’s a 42-minute entertainment special.’ He later apologized after facing backlash, but Victoria Secret’s brand continued to suffer. When Jeffrey Epstein was arrested for sex trafficking in July 2019, it was revealed that Epstein used his connection to Victoria’s Secret president Les Wexner to pose as a recruiter to traffic women.”
[Bold for emphasis mine.] Exactly. But I disagree with Ed Razek’s conclusion. (And, Ed? Never apologize to Them. Never.) Yes, it’s a fantasy. That means no one will ever meet, much less bed, any of those girls (or “girls”) because no one looks or is like the models on the catwalk. Not even the models themselves in real life. It’s all rather ridiculous, because it’s as fake as an animated character. I remember when Jodie Foster was sort of coming out of the closet and some men were furiously “defending” her on the interwebs. “No! She’s not a lesbian!” Stop simping and white knighting for some woman you will never meet, and if you did meet by some chance, she would probably have nothing to do with you. And her personal life is exactly that: personal. (And bless Foster for mostly keeping it that way instead of being all obnoxious-activist about it. She seems to be a genuinely intelligent woman, and she stands by her friends. So good on her, but I digress.)
—
Of course the horrible person de jour is “Diddy”. But people are increasingly mentioning Clive Davis in conjunction with all of this. Will they be the Rushmore of sex trafficking predatory perverts? Imagine the faces of Epstein, Wexner, Combs, and Davis carved in high relief onto some mountain of shame and evil. Or maybe not the faces, but the other end. Perhaps nuts-to-butts would be appropriate. It would be for Davis and Diddy.
First – GOT/SOFAI in Florida? Nah. Each ‘kingdom’ would easily be represented by the major cities and locals. Duchy of Conch, Kingdom of Mijami, The Tampa Bay Empire. The twin kingdoms of The Rat and The Whore(lando.) Land of the Dragon (Brevard County.) etc. The trailer park? Reminds me of the High Elves in Larry Correia’s “Monster Hunter International” series.

As to tranny models, that’s what happens when only gay men are allowed to design for females. Seems gay designers want their females to look like boys or skinny men. How to stop this? Simple, let straight men and straight women design clothing, or at least select the models. You’ll start seeing more rounded and sensual women models and all of this tranny crap would stop. But then again, magazines and clothing lines that openly buy into this crap tend to fail spectacularly, like “Sports Illustrated” which is dead. Once the go-to fap mag for those who couldn’t get ahold of Playboy, it’s now dead.

Regarding William Marshall, one of the tricks he used in tourneys was to have really big ‘squires’ (think US football players) run onto the melee field and yan other knights off their horses and drag them to the list barrier (fence) for the win. It was legal, kind of like skirting the edges of the rules of most motorsports. He also several times had to have his helm cut off due to being shaped to his head by so many hits. He was a really tough strong dude. And he helped smooth the stupidity of some of the crowns he served.
