Wisdom from Blazing Saddles

The Splendor brings Inhumanity
(h/t JW) Modern Man in the West enjoys prosperity beyond the imagination of the wealthiest pharaoh of the ancient world, or, indeed, the wealthiest plutocrat of the Victorian Age. Not just the accomplishments but their speed is breathtaking: man went from sailing ships to spaceships in one generation.
Further, he enjoys political liberty never seen nor imagined in ages when helotry and serfdom were ubiquitous, when caste was by birth, and emperors were called gods. Thanks to the free market, famine has vanished, save when deliberate; thanks to modern medicine, pestilence is unknown, save when deliberate. Two of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse are halted in their tracks, riding only when Stalin in Moscow or Xi in Peking applies the spur.
The Modern Man is obsessed with ingratitude for all these blessings. He merely neglects these blessings, nor merely takes them for granted. He hates them, and seeks without rest to undermine and overthrow all support for them.
All current political conflict, tumult, war, and genocide, have been created by ceaseless attacks on the ideals and institutions fostering the blessings of the modern-day bestows.
In this day, the press promotes censorship of the press, the entertainment industry condemns whatever entertains, capitalist corporations support socialism, politicians promote anarchy, academics abolish academic freedom, and the freethinkers condemn free thought. The church whores after pagan idols of fornication and abortion, blessing sodomy and scorning Christ. In sum, every major institution in the West joins in the undermining of its own foundation.
Liberty is called slavery, and slavery is called safety. Justice is replaced by social justice. Virtue is replaced by virtue signaling. Truth is narrative. Reason is dismissed as doubletalk, while doubletalk is upheld as unquestionable; doubts are hatespeech. Thought is thoughtcrime. Faith is spat upon.
Mental illnesses, especially neurotic and suicidal sexual deviance, is lauded as brave and beautiful, whereas failure to praise these perversions is literally called phobia, that is, mental illness.
Each of these various social pathologies, philosophical absurdities, satanic theologies, and mental illnesses has it own name: subjectivism, antinomianism, relativism, totalitarianism, socialism, pervertarianism, nihilism. Each has a false name used to hide its meaning, such as Progressivism, Multiculturalism, Liberation Theology, Critical Race Theory, or Gender Ideology. Each hides its meaning because each promotes the downfall of civilization by a different means.
Bullet Points:
** The Chinese Spy Balloon Program …Bulger-21 carried sophisticated surveillance equipment and circumnavigated the globe from December 2021 until May 2022, the NGA document states. Accardo-21 carried similar equipment as well as a “foil-lined gimbaled” sensor, it says.
A U.S. official speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss sensitive intelligence said the government naming convention for such balloons is alphabetical, from A to Z. It appears that the balloons are named after notorious criminals, including Tony Accardo, James “Whitey” Bulger, and Donald Killeen.
** Singing pop music in a Southern accent doesn’t make it country. Unless your old lady left you and took your truck and your dog bit you the day you were released from prison…

The Chilidog

Can you make a proper chilidog without cheese? I would say that you can’t. Likewise, there should be a drizzle of mustard applied before you put the cheese that melts on the dog.
Which is better, a chilidog or a corndog? I realize that they’re both applications of the basic hotdog/tube steak.

Identify the Tanks
All three were knocked out/damaged/destroyed, but there’s enough remaining for an ID. #2 may be the most difficult – a big, heavy.
Lord High Executioner Beans mentioned that when WW2 began the French had the best tanks, the most innovative, the best designed, the most advanced. And yet how were they employed in combat by the French Army? In some places very well, but overall, the story is one for the books.

Identify the Tanks:

2. Char 2C
3. Matilda II
Identify the Tanks:
1. T-60. Uncertain about this one.
Correct on 2 & 3. 1 is tough.
Vickers Light Tank Mk VIC
YES!
Easily identified by the Carden-Lloyd chassis and the typical British flash-hood on the muzzle of the machine gun.
I think Surly ingested some bad Chinesium memory chips.
Corn dogs are to chilidogs as bumper cars are to 1969 427 Corvettes. Cheese and onions are essential components.
Someplace is a wall with Vindman’s name on it. Milly’s too. Mis-spelling intentional. We’re gonna need a bigger wall if all them sumbitches they call friends are to join them. The goddam Army taught me two things, my left from my right and don’t never volunteer for nothin’, but, I’d be willing to make an exception to the latter in this case. I mean that in the most trans and LGBTQXYZ friendly way, of course.
Of course.
The only way to properly write their names on the wall is using blood, brain and other tissue covered bullets.
Prove me wrong.
Can you make a proper chilidog without cheese?
Define “proper”.
A Coney dog is a chili dog, but typically doesn’t have cheese, but mustard.
Unless you ask for it.
A proper chilidog has chili. Everything else is personal taste,eh?
Pretty much like pizza.
But pineapple on a chilidog would be weird.
Pineapple doesn’t belong anywhere near a hot dog. Neither do peaches.
I’m a “keep it simple type”: Bun, dog, chili, cheese, and a sprinkle of diced onions. Anything beyond that (save for mustard if you must) is just “more” and adulterates.
+1
What Paul M said.
But I take it to a weird level. Lay the buns down, split the dog lengthwise, slather with mustard, cover with chili and sprinkle onion chunks. Eat with a fork. Cuts down on the splatter and drippage factor. Doesn’t stop it, just cuts down on the damage.
And sometimes I do sprinkle some good Cheddar cheese. But it’s optional.
The other ingredients aren’t.
With the pro-level “elevated” chili dog we can now make a moniker adjustment: Chef Lord High Executioner Beans.
Nah. Still just good old HEB.
Cooking is a hobby. Man has to do something besides stringing up people, impaling people, drawing and quartering people, blood eagling people, slitting people’s throats…
It’s the simple things one does besides work that makes the world a happier place.
There is something of primal comfort in a properly done chilidog.
HEB…point taken, we all need a decompress “hobby”, and comfort food is right up there with blowing stuff up, or – as you suggest – being a “travel agent to God” (h/t LL) for the baddies.
LL…and requires little explanation or pondering, it’s goodness ‘just is’.
cheese is okay, but the mustard must be in contact with the chili. sometimes i mix the mustard in the chili and use it for dip. corn dog is more for mobile eating, dipped in mustard. yum….is bulger21 ours or theirs? i’ve seen some of those call signs on flight tracker. i know we have several in the air over the u.s. daily. more over us than over china…..i’m with beans. wall, bullet, leave the body as a message. but even if there’s a coup there will be an immediate call for “forgiveness” and justice will never happen. i wonder if those people have bunkers and boltholes or do they believe that nothing will ever come back on them.
Sometimes when eating just chili, I add a dash or two of mustard. It is a different type of spicy and compliments the spices of the chili.
I’m past forgiveness. If they get control, they will have no forgiveness to me and mine. So screw them. Preferably to a wall.
The first part of this was well said!
No way could I compare a chili dog vs a corndog, they are different! I do want a good chili dog far more often than a corndog.
As to the chili on the chili dog, I like the Wienerschnitzel chili dog sauce! Not enough to drive the 55 miles to the nearest Wienerschnitzel stand just for a chili dog but if I was going that way…
Haven’t had a corndog eons, haven’t been to the rodeo (that’s ‘road-ee-oh’ for those not from LA) in a while…or that corndog stalwart, a NASCAR race. For me it’s the beer pairing:
– Corndogs- Bud
– Chili dogs- everything else NOT from A-B
Spy Balloon- The Administration breached treason-level allowing this damn thing to fly over our military installations collecting data. But that was so “last weeks news” – quickly superseded by the next insane explosion or disaster or shooting or [fill-in-the-bank]. We’ll never see people hanged in consequence.
Southern Accent- Neither does a politician effecting a black southern Baptist preacher tone and cadence make them one.
If it’s But Light – paired with a corndog…well, enough said. Stick to Bud.
The Bud-Lite grad-school “foot shooters” missed an opportunity to paint the cans in a nice shade of periwinkle. Sloppy, very sloppy…just can’t get good help these days.
Line from the perfect country song written by Steve Goodman and made famous by David Allen Coe:
Well, I was drunk the day my mom got out of prison
And I went to pick her up in the rain
But before I could get to the station in my pickup truck
She got run over by a damned old train.
Classic stuff.
True Country.
The old joke: Play it backwards and you get all your stuff back.
A few years ago I drove through Nashville frequently and would tune in WSM. It was a weak AM station playing stuff I never heard elsewhere. Modern country leaves me unimpressed. Good bluegrass is worth listening to. My favorites are Junior Brown and his wife Tanya Rae Brown. New younger performers I like are Billy Strings and Molly Tuttle.
If you like a blend of bluegrass, folk, and country try Foghorn String Band.

I’ve heard this program…totally forgot about it. Thx Ed.
Good old Steve Goodman. Saw him a few times when I lived in Chicagoland…
Some years back I saw Goodman play in KC on the same bill as John Prine. Great show. Both are missed.
“Illegal Smile”….’Nuff said!
Ah, but why do the middle-class, successful, normal people buy into the self-loathing? The Deep State can’t build a competitive airplane, ship, helicopter, or rocket; their secret war progress reports were leaked by a 20 year old to impress his friends. If Daniel Ellsberg is tragedy then Jack Teixeira is farce.
All the frontier you could ever use is only 100 miles away, straight up. Saying that man will never be free of oppression is like claiming man will never walk on the moon because he never has in the past — except it’s the early 60’s and Project Mercury is reaching its goals.
Growing up while being bombarded with continuous advertisements saying that in order to be good enough you have to buy our product. So the developing mind gets set into thinking you are lacking in something. Since the products never fill the void they lurch from one self-destructive behavior to another. As the song says, “looking for love in all the wrong places”.
How about a chili corn dog with cheese, onions and mustard?

Wow—what a hybrid!
A chili cheese dog needs either English hot mustard or the Bavarian sweat hot mustard. And never put ketchup on any type of hot dog or corn dog.
Hmmm. I’d have to see the particular Bavarian they collected the sweat from….
Had wondered about the .org designation on Virtual Mirage. Just occurred to me, is LL a Reverend and I have been attending a church? Well, the sermons are comforting.
A digital temple for the un-woke? Maybe?
Great opening homily. Well said. Strange to observe Western Civ commit suicide, eh?
Suicide with considerable assistance.
Vulnerabilities in cultural (Christian) neuroprogramming were exploited. To be precise, both actual Christian neuroprogramming and widely prevalent misunderstandings of the same. To be further precise, yes I meant unhyphenated Christianity.
The Chinese do not have those vulnerabilities in their cultural programming (plenty of other problems, yes, but not those). Which is why “we” must have open conflict with China before the armed might and economic power of the West collapses. Who prevails in the end I can’t foresee, but the parasites will not gain control of China through their usual means.

x3…Spot on Mike_C (but you knew that)
WSF:
+1 on Junior Brown
